I have started changing all the bulbs in my house to these. I first started changing them out about 18 months ago and only have about 4 more to go before I will have only these kinds of bulbs in my home. I still will not just take the others out and change them, I wait until one is out and change each one over as they go. I can already see a difference in the power use in my home. It is also brighter when the lights are on with these than it is where the older style bulbs are still burning. So far I have only had to change one of the newer ones back out, even though they are supposed to last three to five years, I suppose that you can still count on getting a bad one every now and then. But the older ones were that way too, right? Main thing though is that I have already saved the price of my bulbs back in the power bill. I did not get mine at the retail stores though. I went to the traveling tool sales that go through the area every once in a while and paid about a quarter of the price......

I had used a couple of these bulbs in living room because I was tired of changing them all the time.I have since removed everyone for fear that it would start a fire.My daughter and I were in the kitchen and she was scared because she said someone turned the light out in the living room after closer inspection I realized there was flames and sparks shooting out the light bulb.I am thankful it happened while we were awake because I always leave at least one light on at night in case she gets up.Had it been at night who knows what would have happend.I have inspected the lamp and replaced w/ a normal bulb and all is working fine. The old t3 bulb has brown scorch marks on the top and still has a strong oder of being burnt. This could be an isolated situation but I plan on contacting g.e about this to see what there response is.I can find no other people having this problem so hopefully there will be none but I choose to go back to my old ways......

We recently started replacing all the bulbs in our home with the GE Soft White Spiral bulbs. The difference in the light is amazing, and they don't get nearly as hot as the traditional bulbs did. We've had some of them in place for around 6 months and so far none have burned out. We were replacing bulbs before every time we turned around. These bulbs seem to really live up the the manufacturer's word....

These bulbs are great and I have noticed our electrical use going down since we switched to them. The big issue we have with them is that they take 20-30 seconds to reach full brightness.....the bulbs are not a good choice for a location where you turn on a light briefly (like a closet or a pantry). They are great for use in a kitchen or living area.

Better yet, Costco had deals on these not too long ago where our power company picked up about 90% of the cost of these making them a great value.
...

This is one of my favorite household products. It is energy efficient, and I have definitely noticed a reduction in my electric bill after replacing all my old light bulbs. I have saved about $200 overall... no joke. I use them at home, and at work for a more green lifestyle....

I have been replacing all of our bulbs with these. At first, it was a little expensive so I only did the ones we use often, but lately at my local Walmart, they are very affordable.
I only have about 2 old bulbs left in my house.
I bought a little meter that I hooked up in the cellar to just my lighting circuits, and I have noticed savings already. (Of course we don't use out lights the same every day, but it's enough savings to know that it's real)
They don't burn nearly as hot either. (Although you still don't want to touch them)
A great way to save money AND the environment!...

OK says "Great green, eco-concious lighting alternative" about GE Soft White Spiral T3 16254

I purchased several of these lightbulbs in an attempt to 'make the switch' to an alternate source of lighting that helps the environment, saves money and is energy concious. I was not overly impressed with the color of the lighting and do not like the cumbersome manner in which it needs to be disposed of once the light has burned out. I believe there are better alternatives to CFL's that offer more realisic lighting coloration and are not a hazard to dispose of...nonetheless, bravo to all those folks making a change for the better by seeking out this type of lighting energy source!...

Great on your electric bill, energy and earth. They are more durable than regular light bulbs. I have them in every light/lamp in my house, but often miss the cozy/warm feeling of a regular light bulb. I have tried and do have natural sunlight bulbs and as much as I NEED the sunlight, I do not especially care for the lighting.
...
