sjderry says "My GE Profile refrigerator is very noisy and can't be fixed!" about GE Profile EnergyStar Refrigerator

When I first got Profile Energy Star Profile refrigerator less than 3 years ago, it occasionally chirpped like a cricket. I didn't like it, but the book said this sound was normal and would happen for about 5 minutes whenever the compressor came on. Gradually the chirping got louder and longer. Now it chirps loudly almost constantly and is driving me nuts. I went on the Internet and noticed others are having the same problem.

I called the number GE provided to find a qualified service technician. They scheduled him to come on a certain day and they would not give me a window of time smaller than "sometime between 8 am and 5 pm." I basically had to take an entire day off work just to have this technician look at my refrigerator. He was at my home about 5 minutes and said the chirpping was related to the refrigerant technology and could not be repaired. He charged me $80. He said he would contact the factory to see if they could recommend a course of action, but I never again heard from him....
...

shipster says "Keeps freezing food in fridge,GE can't solve,AGGREVATING" about GE Profile EnergyStar Refrigerator

We bought this model PGSS5NFXCSS with hope of having a care-free fridge but the food keeps freezing in the fridge. We also bought a service contract from Sears. Between Sears and GE they do not know what to do to fix. We have asked for replacement but both are uncooperative. The top fridge is nice to not have to stoop down to get food. The 24.9 capacity sounds like alot but it seems small and the vegtable bins are tiny.

Anyone interested in buying this model or one like it should really look at these features and do your homework. Don't be wowed by the appearance, really look at the cavity of the frigde.
...

We were not in need of a new Refridgerator but my husband and I feel in love with this one. Which is the GE Profile Refrigerator Gold series. It has all you could ever need or want. Best part is the Door lock, you just push the button and the doors lock, great feature for those with little kids. It features Freezer on the bottom with 2 divided bins along with a long upper pull out tray for smaller freezer items. Double Doors on the Refridgerator that has a filterated water and ice dispenser, Night light feature and a Door Alarm that goes off if the door isnt closed or is open for over 2 minutes. It also has a place on the door that holds 12 packs of drinks and dispenses them from the bottom. There is so much Good I can say about this item but not enough time. I bought mine at Lowes Hardware on sale for about $1,700 and no interest for 1 year. I know thats alot for a fridge but it was well worth it. It is also the Gold series, energy star rated and Stainless Steel. Now if I can sell my other...
...

We bought a new GE Profile refrigerator without the ice machine just over a year ago. What a great addition to our home. No more bending over looking for items and the freezer on the bottom is a welcome addition since my husband and I both hate bending over. It keeps items cold, and there is plenty of room to keep everything in clear view. What a wonderful investment
...

WOW!!!!!

I needed a new fridge so my husband and I were procrastinating this large purchase at christmas time (not good ). We had been searching for a few months looking at styles, sizes, and stainless (the three esses). Well I had my eye on this french door GE PROFILE 25 cu. but was way out of our budget. I was hoping that the price would go down, so I wuold window shop often eg. online/stores, window shop. This one day I stopped in Lowe's ( I never go there but was looking for christmas decorations, they had already started to mark down. So I walked over to the appliance dept. and what did my wandering eyes see? The exact GE PROFILE french door fridge, it was the floor model ...had a small dent near bottom of the freezer marked down less than half price. Can you belive it? So I opened a Lowe's charge and even got an extra 10% off total price $1,350.00 delivered, free old fridge removal and a 3 year extended warranty,.. WOW my christmas present. So anywhoo,I am very much in love with...
...

Overall very satisfied. Beautiful inside and out. Has separate humidity controls for fruit and vegetable drawer. Only problem is that ice maker doesn't always shut down when ice tray is full and dumps extra down into the bottom of freezer drawer....

mdsckelly says "Great Use of Space, but a little noisy" about GE Profile EnergyStar Refrigerator

While researching new refridgerator models, I decided that the new french door model was what I was looking for. But I also wanted ice and water in the door. However, I found that you loose alot of fridge space with that feature so, I was interested when GE came out with their new water in the door model. I have been overall pleased with this fridge. Love the interior space. I have yet to pack it out with a family of 5! And I love the bottom drawer freezer. I can see everything that I have at a glance! I can organize by food type, or meal type and easily find what I have. I am dissapointed with the fan noise when it kicks on, but overall it is not too bad....

I love this refrigerator! It has lots of space. It even has an extra drawer for lunch meat. My vegetables last longer in the produce drawer. The ice maker is located in the top of the freezer, not on the top shelf. this allow an extra shelf for food storage. It also has a special drawer for quick cooling in the bottom of the refrigerator. I highly reccomend this product....
