pitcherday says "My GE Potscrubber 800 portable has been INSANELY reliable!" about GE Potscrubber

i got my GE Potscrubber 800 portable dishwasher from a used appliance store in 1999. I used it for a year, and then it spent the next nine years being moved all around the country and not being used. It spent all the time in a garage or shed or wherever else, as long as it was out of the way. I never got rid of it because portable dishwashers are really expensive and i wanted it in case I moved to a place with no dishwasher.

Well, January 2009, we moved to a newly constructed apartment complex where they cheaped out and didn't put dishwashers in. So, Potscrubber came out of retirement.

It works just as well as in 1999. Portable dishwashers never do as good of a job as the built-in ones. This one is pretty average for being so old. The dishes need to be rinsed, and in mine you need to use gel detergent and not powder, but all things considered, I got some good value from this thing! I think it wastes more water than a newer, built-in one.

Pitted against today's models, it's probably not...
...

taylor32368 says "this dishwasher is one of the worst products for GE" about GE Potscrubber

The diswasher does not clean very well. it shoots alot of the dirt back up onto the dishes. I'm sorry to say that. I pretty much was the dished before I put them in the dishwasher and they come out worse than when I put them in. I've gone back to washing my dishes by hand. at least that way I will know they are clean. I'm very surprised by this machine. Usually GE is a good name and usually has good products. I dont know if maybe the water here has anything to do with it. Maybe it doesnt get hot enough to clean the dishes well. this dishwasher seems to have blow back lately. whatever is on the bottom of the dishwaher seems to end up on the dishes again at the end of the cycle. so I have to take the dishes out and rewash them again. it has made alot of work for me lately. that is why I went back to washing them by hand. at least that way I only have to do it once, not three times. it gets old fast.
...

nh10s says "have to wash dishes manually before hand and extremely NOISY." about GE Potscrubber

I basically use it as a dish rack because if I have to wash manually anyway why waste the water in the dishwasher.

Hate the fact that it is so NOISY, and even the economy/conservation cycle runs for 50 minutes -- I can do it by hand in half the time....
