I really love my new washing machine. Its a General Electric with the front loading door. I am rather short, and have had to stand on my tippy toes in order to get the clothes. But after a hernia operation It hurt to bend over the washer to get the clothes out. And beings it was a older washer we went looking for a new washer.

We came across a furniture store that was going out of business so we stopped there. Before we left I had a new washer and dryer to match. The washer has a extra large door, and is very easy for me to put clothes in now. The washer actually washes longer than the older one, but dosent matter to me about the time. The door stays closed untill the washer stops. I also like that you can put your bleach, softer and soap in at the same time and the washer dispenses it at each cycle. They are all put in on the top of the machine.

It is a very quiet machine, when we first used it I had to go in and see if it was working because I didnt hear it. I really like that feature....
...

I bought a GE large capaticity GE Front Load washer 3 years ago. 11 months later I was having problems where I would wash one load and the locked light would stay on the display for 24 to 48 hours later and would not let me was another load until that light went off. They sent a repair man out 4 times. They replaced the mother board twice and tried switching out a couple other things which didn't resolve the issue. Then my warrantee was out & I had to fight with NFM for a couple more months until they finally replaced it. The next GE Front Load washer lasted a little longer ( about 14 months) and is now doing the same thing the last one did. Don't buy one you will regret it!!!!
...

This front loader is decent for the money. You should know that water can collect under the door seal, and its a good idea to wipe it out after use, as this water can start to smell musty. I didn't know this for a long time, and was frustrated about the odor. Then leave the washer door open between uses, if possible, so inside can dry out. You MUST use HE detergent so as not to void the warranty!
...

Purchased in November of 07. Motor Drive is broken in less than 2 years. Out of warranty. Called GE at 1 800 call to nowhere, after calling several different onumbers, finally spoke to someone only to hear the dreaded words...sorry, you must hire a GE Authorized Repairman to diagnose the problem, we already have... they will not accept that and regardless of how new the appliance is we will have to pay over 300 for the part, plus labor.

Seriously, we will most likely go buy another brand and do everything in our power to be sure to get the word out there NOT to buy a GE Appliance!

My washing machine died last year so my husband and I went shopping for a new one. We ended up buying GE front loader with all the gadgets. I love the washer because I have saved on water and detergent. I've also saved on clothes because I don't have to worry about my shirts getting all stretched out because of a wringer. I have one problem with it and it's when I do a load of towels. It doesn't matter if I put one towel in or 13 in my washer starts doing a little dance and then it really gets to dancing wild if I don't pause it and sort the towels out. I called the dealer and they came out to make sure it was balanced and it was. That is the only problem I have with it, all of my other laundry does fine it it. So when it comes time to do the towels my patience runs pretty thin so I have my husband do them, lol! If your wanting a front load washer thats good for the money and very econmical this GE is the one to buy. I'm very happy with it and I'll be thrilled with it if I can figure out...
...

I love my GE front loading Energy Star Washing Machine. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made. I find that my clothes are cleaner and that my electric bill is happier. I can even put delicates in and they come out none the worse for wear! My kids love the super fast spin cycle and that's the only time you're even aware it's working. The only time we have a problem is when we forget to clean the filter. I love it!
...

If you are concidering the GE Front Load Washer...think no more. It is the one for you. Great and efficent wash machine. Gets a little loud in the spin cycle but hey it does spin at 1000 RPM's. Uses less soap and really rinses it all out. Lots of great cyles for even your most delicate of clothes. Highly recommend and great price also. Sometime you will need to leave the door open so the drum can air out. Otherwise you will get a little bit of a mildew smell. Works great with liquid fabric softener. No stains...ever!!
...

We moved into a brand new house 11 months ago and in this two story, 4 bedroom place we have an upstairs and a downstairs laundry. Our NEW GE pair was installed in the downstairs laundry for the exclusive use of my wife and myself. Over the past 11 months, the washer has "eaten" at least 4-5 items of my wife's apparel and a couple of mine.

This is tragic, as my wife is a "size 0," and has great trouble finding clothes. This past weekend, it totally shredded a pair of $70 dollar pants of hers ! It also ate one of my t-shirts. Something is clearly WRONG with the interior of the washer, and we have had one service call to try to get this fixed, but obviously that was not successful. We have a new LG washer-dryer upstairs and no problems with those. In our old house we had the Maytag Neptune front-loader pair and they NEVER had this problem !

YIKES !
...

This washer doesn't have all the bells and whistles that other more expensive washers, but for the price of $699, it's a great value. It sometimes has trouble getting up to speed in the spin cycle with large loads, but works well with medium size loads. The fabric softener tray seems to not flush out completely, but if you just put more it works fine. Overall, I'm satisfied. I've owned it for 3 months now....

My wife and I replaced an old GE Top Load Washer about 1-1/2 years ago. Being a Navy Submarine Vet where Front Load was all we used, I suggested that we get a Ge Front Load Machine. "BIG MISTAKE"!!! The water conservation feature does not allow enough water to fill the machine to be effective. When the clothes finish washing, there is a stagnant odor that suggests the clothes are not thoroughly clean. Our white clothing are systematically turning gray. My T-shirts are literally dark (almost black) in the underarm part of the shirts. This is probably due to residual deoderant not coming out during the washing process. We paid a substantial amount of money (per our income) for our machines- Washer & Dryer with stands. We are now shopping for a Top Load Washer because we are so frustrated and dissatisfied. I have offered to give away my Front Load in exchange for a Top Load. I went to Home Depot a few days ago and spoke with an appliance salesperson and explained the...
...

My Ge Appliance Front load washer has so far (only 2 months old) SAVED me so much in water, electricity, time and energy. I love that I can have my clothes dried, folded and almost completly put away before my next load is ready to come out of the washer. The washer works so hard, yet it barley makes a sound, there is little to NO vibration from it while it's adjatating or spinning out. My clothes have never been treated so well. I am in love with my new washer and it's matching dryer....

I am a housekeeper for a family that owns this washing machine and they also have the dryer. The have seven children so the LARGE drum area can hold lots of clothing! It uses very little water and does get the clothing clean. However, the running time seems rather long unless you use the Quck Wash cycle. The only other negative is that the rubber seal around the the front door area sometimes gets socks or clothing down under the seal and then you get dirt, black mold growing in there and it begins to smell. The seal has also on one occasion become twisted and then the machine went into stale mode where nothing would work. After unplugging the machine it started back up. After the repairman came the machine again hummed along and is in constant use so it does its' job and is a good fit for large families like this one with seven children....

We bought the GE washer/dryer combination having a wash load of 6 people in our household 3 being teenage girls.

At first the washer kept up ok and lived up to it's claim for having the best wash cycles and cleaning results. About 3 months after heavy use the rinse cycle was not finishing the spin out so the clothes were wet when the cycle was finished. We called for service the repair man said that the filter was dirty with lint and hair (3 girls with long hair). The filter is not easily accessible, a repair man must come out and clean the filter. This is not feasible or logical from a heavy use standpoint.

The plastic fill tray for detergent, bleach and fabric softener is very flimsy and breaks easily.

Overall, after 1 year of use, we are not satisfied and are seeing continued degradation of the machine. GE does promptly come out and clean, however, it is very inconvenient.
...
