Im going to make this quick and simple. My grandfather went to this hospital last year for a gall stone removal. Had to come back this year because, he complained of pain. Turns out the surgery they did on him gave him an infection!!! So this time around they said he needed surgery again! "Had to be done right away!" Ok so he went into surgery.. and they had to put a tube in him to drain out the puss of the infection. A week has gone by and it turns out they were draining the tube into HIS LUNGS!!! in addition after the surgery they had to run some tests my uncle said that he asked the nurse who tested my grandpa stool, and what was she checking for ..and she said she had "no clue". Then made a remark about the results, saying "great, it's negative" and my uncle asked "what does that mean?" she said "oh...wait one moment and i'll find out" OK wow!!!! i thought you were suppose to be educated to work here and not making remarks like that to scare the patients!!! ..... ok now are these...
...

The following is my opinion based on the care I have had and have personally seen.

I have been a patient at Frederick Memorial Hospital. My first child was born here. I have had to take relatives here at least a dozen times. It is by far the WORST hospital I have been in ANYWHERE!

The ER is NOT staffed by the hospital, but by another group. I have NEVER been there when they have enough staff on duty. They will not call more staff unless they are behind at least two hours - FOR THE EMERGENCY ROOM! If you go to the ER, expect to be there for AT LEAST 8 hours. If you are going to be admitted, 12-14 before you will be in your room. If you arrive by ambulance, that only means you will be on a gurney in the hall waiting rather than in the waiting room.

Parking. What's that? If I wanted to open up a 2,500 square foot shop across the street, I would be required by law to have more shopping than what they have.

Construction. It is ALWAYS under construction, but nothing is improving...
...

I'm a college student down here in the Frederick area. The first time I went to the emergency room was when I had taken a severe fall and cracked my back on the side of a stair. When I entered the emergency room, I had to wait three hours on a Tuesday night JUST to get a bed. I finally saw a doctor about an hour after I got in there. He had sent me back for x-rays, then said they were negative and to leave. When I went home, I went to my other doctor, who is based in Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philly, he had told me that I had three hairline fractures in a vertebrae and that if I had fallen again, I would have been paralyzed from the waist down. Thank god I decided to get a second opinion or I wouldn't be walking.
Another issue happened this week. I have been having stabbing pains in my side for two days, and decided to go to the emergency room to get it checked out. Thank GOD my boyfriend came with me, or I don't know what I would have done. The tech there had NO idea what......

My 19 year old daughter, Anna was pregnant and her due date was October 31, 2007. She had a wonderful pregnancy with no complications and no morning sickness. However, she was 6 months pregnant when she confirmed her pregnancy.
On the 29th, the health nurse stopped by for a visit. Anna kept going to the bathroom and complaining because she could not control her bladder. The nurse thought it was a normal thing because of the baby pushing on everything in side and left us with that thought.
On the 30th Anna had an appointment with her OB/GYN. Her control at this point was non-existent. We went to the doctor and he told us her water was broke and we should take her to the hospital.
As usual, the hospital staff was extremely kind and polite. Anna had pre-registered, so check-in was very quick, and soon she was settled in the birthing room in the birth section of the hospital. We had gone for a visit the Saturday before and I couldn't believe how things had changed in......
