ericdhanson34 says "An above-average car that guzzles gas" about Ford Taurus - 2003

The 2003 Ford Taurus is a large vehicle with plenty of legroom, but boy does it guzzle gas. I went from driving a small, Nissan Altima to the Taurus primarily because my father handed it down to me for free. Boy, did I notice the gas mileage go down considerably. It's not that bad of a ride. On the freeway, it will do just fine. You can definitely tell it's a larger vehicle, and not meant to be a gas-saving car, but it does have a lot of great features. Not sure if it's standard in all Taurus', but the electric driver's side chair is a plus for those who are short or tall, thin or fat. I happen to be a taller, larger male. I can not only put the chair further back, but also tilt, raise it up, or go down. The trunk is very spacious for carrying cargo. The back seat is also wide enough for me to put a car seat, and two booster seats for my kids. My older daughters love driving it though, so there are a few pluses about this vehicle.
...

ahcockrell says "A darn good car." about Ford Taurus - 2003

I bought my 2003 Ford Taurus brand new. The only time it has been in the shop is when a deer decided that it wanted to ride on the front driver's side. My taurus is top of the line. it has leather seats, sun roof, etc. The only problem that I have had is that the blower motor on the air conditioner keeps making a funny noise. My husband has replaced it two times. On other sights I have read that this is caused from missind water plugs under the dash and the motor gets wets and starts to make a whining noise. Now I don't know about you, but my kids do enough whining in the back seat, I sure don't need any coming from the front of the car. This car rides and handles like a dream. I have the engine with the dual overhead cams and it will take off like a scalded dog - as my grandmother used to say. My next car will definitely be another Ford about the same size as the Taurus. It has been a pleasure to drive.
...

This has been a good car for us so far, although we have made a few minor fixes to it since we bought it a year ago. This car is spacious, comfortable and a great traveling car. It makes noises a lot, but when we take it in there seems to be nothing wrong with it. We have to replace all of the spark plus about four months ago, which should not have been a problem yet because it has not yet reached 90,000 miles, but it was a relatively cheap fix. The key to this car is to keep it maintenanced. If you are not a car person, I wouldn't recommend getting this car. You might be getting taken advantage of because of all the minor repairs that could turn into "big problems". Overall, weve loved it! The only thing we have regretted is the bad gas mileage. When the gas prices were very high last summer, we were paying about $50 - $ 60 bucks everytime to fill up on gas. We are frequent drivers so this was very inconvienient, but other than that it has been great.
...

When I test drove the Ford Taurus I was surprised on how comfortable it was. It seemed to fit like a glove. It also handled nice and being shorter I was able to adjust the seat to fit my leg length. The dash board didn't seem too big which is a common dislike for me in cars. I really think it is more of a personal thing. Fords have never been a good buy in my family but the car checked out and passed all the tests. I liked the color, blue and it was just the price I needed, after some haggling. So I bought it.

It is now three years later and it still fits me well. My dog has a lot of space in the back seat for long road trips and the trunk space fits my lifestyle well with room for my camping supplies or luggage if I am on a business trip. It still handles well when it is moving and my gas mileage isn't bad.

Here is where I have a problem. My blower motor for the heater and the air conditioner stopped working. Dead of winter I had to de-ice my windshield while...
...

maude says "not enough room for more than 4 adults/luggage in station wagon" about Ford Taurus - 2003

I have owned my current Taurus station wagon since 2003. . I have 4 grandsons whom I occasionally take on short excursions with me. It is extremely hard to fit everyone and their gear in this car. When I have to pick up people from the airport- there is a limit of 4 adults and not much room for luggage. After a month or so of ownership, I noticed what seemed to be a "slippage" when pulling out from a stop. I have had this checked out at the dealership and they cannot find anything wrong... . I have very low mileage on this car- 32000- and have a concern about the transmission.

My previous car was a 1995 Taurus station wagon. . Much the same look and feel at the wheel but more ample room and no problems...miles were so high on that car !

I do like the looks of the car -just wish there was more space inside of it. Remember the giant luxury cars of the 70's & 80's that we just took for granted?
...

If there is one thing i can say about a ford taurus its exceptionally great car very dependable and by far does not hold back for a mid size sedan. it has some get up and go....

We got this car after we had our second child. It has quite a bit of room even with cars seats and children's 'stuff' everywhere. We got it with only 16,000 miles on it and then i wrecked it when it had 63,000 miles on it. We never had to take it in for any repairs, just routine maintenance.

I'm a pretty tall girl (5'10") and my husband is 6'4" and had plenty of headroom.

One thing i love about it (now) is how safe it turned out to be. I rolled my car in a ditch a few weeks ago and me and both of my children walked away unhurt, with only me having a few scratches on my hands. One window busted out, the seat belts held up wonderfully considering we were all three hanging upside down from them.

We are currently searching for another taurus to replace it.

...
