Roxann831 says "Nothing noteworthy" about Ford Focus 2004

I bought a 2004 Ford Focus ZTS in April of 2004. I haven't really had any problems with it except for having unbearable bad luck with flat tires (the wheels that came with it bend up pretty badly btw) but I think that has more to do with bad luck and maybe the tires I kept buying. I find the pickup to be pretty good, but that might just be my lead foot. I have lately been driving my husbands 1984 caravan and let me just say it has made me truly appreciate the Focus. It is an easy drive, quiet, and roomy compared to other compact cars....

chick765827 says "This car is a life saver!" about Ford Focus 2004

The best way to describe this vehicle is it is a life saver. This car is great on gas, rides smoothly, isnt too expensive as long as you don't get all the extra's and most importantly it saved me and my childrens lives. We had a automobile accident in 2005 and according to the cops we should have been dead. We hit several trees and dropped down a 25 foot enbankment landing in front of a huge water drain. Needless to say I would definitly own another Ford Focus!!...

ORIONSATAURUS says "A real piece of junk" about Ford Focus 2004

I had to rent a Ford Focus while my regular vehicle was being fixed. I normally went with a Chevy Cavalier when one was available. I decided to drive the Focus, due in largely liking to test drive so to say the new kids on the block. First of all, I was horribly dissappointed with the color White. Second, the tires were really tiny. Third, the interier was so plain jane, and very cheap looking. Fourth, Ford didn't put an ashtray in the car. I was very upset about this. And this was before all the "No Smoking" BS started. I drove the car to work, then afterwards picked up a friend and we went to dinner. This was in the summer time and I had the A/C on (and not full speed). When we were returning from dinner, we went up a steep hill with the A/C on, and I had to literally put the gas pedal to the floor, and the car still wasn't moving anywhere. I almost got out and pushed the poor car. Since 2004, I haven't been very impressed with this car due to my previous bad experience. I am impressed......

bkovacs says "This is a surprisingly fun, peppy and efficient family car." about Ford Focus 2004

On a trip to California, I rolled the rental car dice with no idea what I might get. It turned out to be a knock-‘em-dead red 2004 Ford Focus ZX4 SE sedan, which was a competent little rental car.

Much about this car can be expressed in terms of four: four doors, four-cylinder engine and four-speed automatic transmission. Although we don't have kids to schlep around on trips, we appreciated the easy access provided by four doors. I had my doubts about the engine and transmission, however, as we intended to drive this car at high altitudes in the showy national parks in California. Not to worry... it worked out quite well.

The Car

The car in question was a basic runabout sedan, nothing fancy. The 2004 Focus boasts a two-liter engine rated at 130 hp and 135 ft-lb of torque. Coupled with its 2,600-pound curb weight and four gear ratios, this car could actually get out of its own way... and get good gas mileage in the process.

My rental Focus had air conditioning, cruise control, interval......
