mfinger says "I have the foodsaver machine and am just satisfied with it" about Foodsaver

We are big gardeners, and put most of our produce in the freezer. We stripped about 400 ears of corn, Green Giant eat your heart out. But to do this takes a lot of time. The machine sealer gets hot and freezes up, so long waits happen till it cools down. Also, we are retired, and the money is not flooding in. The bags themselves are not a cheap item even when bought in bulk. So, Foodsaver manufacturer, if you could solve these few snafu's, you'd really have something!
...

silvercreekgirl says "Everyone wanting to save money on food costs needs a Foodsaver" about Foodsaver

The Foodsaver vacuum sealer system is a must have for every household that is interested in saving money on their family's food costs or just keeping food fresher for longer periods of time. I have vacuumed packed everything from meat to spices to dehydrated fruits and vegetables to fresh fruits and vegetables for the freezer. With the foodsaver vacuum sealer system I am able to buy bulk meats (I just bought a 3 whole pork loin for $1.29 per pound, had the grocery store slice part into boneless chops, part into roasts, and part they ran through the tenderizer for me for no charge), I then brought the meat home and packaged it into packages of 5 for my family and sealed them with the Foodsaver vacuum sealer system. I just took a great buy and extended its freezer life to up to a year. You can also take bargain frozen vegetables, dehydrate them--and you just extended a one-year freezer life to up to ten years.

Take the time, save the money, pay yourself instead of someone else.

Like the Vitamix, my Aunt gave me my FoodSaver and this is one of two appliances we keep on our kitchen counter and use every day. We love fresh fruit but seasonal fruits can be very expensive if not in season. For instance we love blueberries so at the peak of blueberry season this year we picked 18 pounds of blueberries. Now mind you we gave some away to our elderly neighbors but for the other 16 pounds we kept I laid them out on a cookie sheet and froze them, then sucked them down using my FoodSaver. We now will have blueberries throughout until next season. I do this for peaches and pears, mangos and papaya and then for Xmas I make bread using different fruits in it to give as gifts. By using "fruit fresh" on the fruit before I freeze it, the fruit does not discolor so it looks just as fresh when I'm thawing it .. if I would want it for dessert instead. We purchase our meats in bulk and separate them to individual portions and freeze them (marking what it is and the...
...

We rcvd the Tilia Foodsaver V2840 as a gift, Dec. 2007.

This was to replace our older wearing Foodsaver Unit from years prior.

I often take advantage of sales on whole ribeyes, whole beef tenderloins, whole pork tenderloins, ground round, chicken sales, sausage sales, etc.

I'm a Price per Pound, Price per Ounce, Price per Item type shopper. I like my meats cut to order, which usually has no price for cutting, then I go home & vacuum seal & freeze according to our family's individual needs. I cook some foods in bulk & freeze in family or individual portions.

Great item for saving left overs for your college aged kids with little fridge/freezer storage & only a microwave for cooking. Home cooked meals instead of fast food. Also a great idea if providing individual meals for elderly family or friends.

We love the new features of the quieter operation, easier upright counter storage capability, bag storage built right into the unit, removeable drip tray for easier cleaning, two vacuum...
...

I had the food-saver now for about year, and it's worth the money to by this product. The food-saver is easy to use and keeps all food fresh. Yes, it's a bit pricing, but no more throwing out food because of freezer burns or that food is stale. Highly recommend this product. ...

Sometimes I suffer from instantgratificationitis. Like I feel that I have to have something right this minute even though I'm fairly sure it won't live up to my expectations and I'll end up returning the thing. But sometimes the products turn out to be great and I'm happy to keep them. One of those products is the FoodSaver food storage system.

We shop at Costco about once a month and utilize the FoodSaver as a result of buying their inexpensive but good cuts of meat. We grill almost every day in the summer so we like to have chicken, pork, and steaks on hand. We buy them in bulk at Costco then seal and freeze small packages of meat suitable for just the two of us. We especially like the New York strip steaks which are high quality, delicious, huge and reasonably priced. I bring them home and freeze each steak individually so we can pull them out of the freezer when needed. This saves tons of money and makes eating steak much more affordable than buying it on a whim.

We have...
...

This item is very functional. Great for when buying in bulk. It is a little extra work but at the same time you can make bags in portions you will need in the future. Then you can just pull it out of the freezer and defrost it in the fridge in time for when you will use it. Yeah it is more work for you but it is pretty quick and saves time later....

We had this product years ago and sadly wore it out. It was several years before we decided to get another one, why I'm not sure, but after we broke down and bought this newest one we can't do without it.

If the bags were big enough I'd put my kids in them to help their allergies :) but on a serious note, we always buy in bulk and alot of it was being thrown away due to staleness, mold, deterioration, with the Foodsaver, we haven't had that problem, so the cost of it has been recouped just in our food bill!

Would love it if it came with more canisters, they are great for everything! and in the long run, green for the environment as we aren't using all those bags (which are quite pricey) and the marinater canister should be bigger just for those of us who cook more than a 2lb roast.
...

I LOVE the Food-saver! Actually, LOVE is not a strong enough word. This product changed our lives, and life style.

I bought the product thinking that it would allow me to save money by buying more items in bulk at my local warehouse store. At first it was merely for keeping frozen chicken more fresh, and bulk blocks of cheese from turning moldy. Over time I started freezing left overs in the bags, and eventually built up a stock of items in my freezer. What a difference it has made as we now find our selves turning to frozen meals that taste as good, if not better, than the day we cooked them. No additives, no processed meat parts, just good home cooked food.

We have now changed our cooking habits completely, and intentionally cook double or more of what we need for each meal. I now cook an average of 2 times each week, but we manage to eat a different meal every night of the week.

Imagine opening your freezer and finding bags of pre-cooked rice, pasta, and sauces, prepared...
...

I love this. I mean I absolutely love this. I just got married so it's only two of us. But no one sells beef and other products in small enough servings and when they do, the prices are outrageous. This helps me buy bulk paks and freeze smaller servings so that I can take them out and use them without freezer burn. Yes, you got it, NO MORE FREEZER BURN. YAY! The only bad part is that since it's just the two of us and I haven't gotten the containers yet, I don't buy enough to use it every week....someday :o)...

I finally purchase a Foodsaver about three years ago after hearing how wonderful they were. I'm one of those people that will buy pretty much any "gadget" out there, so I definitely had my doubts. But I also had my receipt, so I could return it.

Well, three years later and I'm on my second Foodsaver. Pretty much wore the first one out. I literally can't image being without it for more than a week - I use it that often. Not just for freezing meats, either. They sell canisters for cookies, crackers, etc. and I have a large collection of those and boy are they wonderful. And my kids are now "trained" to seal the canisters closed when they open them - ahhh - such good boys! Actually, they like doing it, so any chore I can get them to do without being told is a step up for me!!
...
