Every time that I go there, I get the veggie plate called Garden of Eating. Their mashed potatoes are great. They usually have great specials too. Everything is reasonably priced. The service takes a little bit, but the food is definitely worth the wait....

I have eaten at the Five Star Day Cafe on the Eastside of Athens several times and enjoy their salads the most. Friends who have accompanied me really enjoy their southern meals with the greens, potatoes and macaroni and cheese. I don't eat there too often because of the large portions. The restaurant is quite busy nearly each day I pass it. They are also opened for breakfast which is quite good. Our family had their eggs and biscuits. My son, who is a huge pancake boy, was disappointed they did not have pancakes. Would encourage you to give the restaurant a try. They have a nice variety of food items....

I've been eating at 5 Star since it opened. I loved the food and the eclectic atmosphere. After I graduated UGA, I only visited occasionally. When I stopped back in to 5 Star years later, the food just wasn't the same. I don't know if ownership changed or the chef changed, but it just didn't taste as good to me....

Five Star Day Cafe, Athens, GA

I absolutely love the Garden Veggie sandwich at Five Star Day on the east side of Athens. I would vote it best sandwich anywhere! It is absolutely wonderful and reminds me of eating in places in Italy. The veggies are cooked just right and the balsamic vinegrette dressing that tops the sandwich just adds to it and tops it off perfectly. I always pair if with the fried potatoes that comes with homeade salsa and sour cream. I enjoy mine with a Dr. Pepper to drink. It is the most perfect dinner if I am trying to think of what to eat and cannot decide. End your meal with one of Five Star Day's wonderful dessert bars! A restaurant must try!
