It's a great app for doing 2 things: tracking what you eat and what you burn (exercise) and those 2 things are key to losing weight, getting in shape, and living healthy.

Things I like are: the quite extensive database is offline, so I don't have to be connected to use the app (I have an iPod Touch), the interface looks nice, it doesn't try to do too much (it has it's function and does it well, no need to bog it down with useless functions). It's free! Other apps that don't do half what this one does, charge for their apps. You can add your own foods, recipes, & exercises.

Things I don't like are: no desktop syncing version, when selecting a food that's specific (like a Nature Valley Oats 'n Honey granola bar) is displays as a generic name, "granola bar," in the food log and in the favorites list, so if you have more than one type of granola bar, it's guesswork to pick the right one (hint: the last item entered is usually on the top of the list). It only supports one user, but it's on...
...

ChicagoTarra says "application that holds you accountable for your daily intake" about FitNow, Inc - Lose It! App for iPod Touch/iPhone

Let me first start off by saying that I am new to calorie counting and maintaining a food log.

Lose it! Application for iPhone 3GS is effortless to use. You'll always have your log because you always have your phone, battery life remaining of course.

I started this program about 1.5 weeks ago and am already down 2 lbs! (woo hoo!)

The reason why I think it's working is because keeping track of your daily intake makes you more self aware. I have been under my calorie budget most days. Keep in mind, you must be honest with yourself or you won't see results. If you had some candy, (ok, ok the whole candy bar) you need to log it accordingly.

Also, I find when I excercise there is something great about seeing it as proof!

This Lose it! App also keeps me on track with calories. I was at the movie theater to see Harry Potter and was debating on movie popcorn, after typing in a small one with a coke I quickly decided that being over 400 calories for the day was NOT worth it.

Great app...
...

MartinHdez Reviewing LooseIt for iPhone

My weight has been increasing slowly, but steadily over the last 30 years. It peaked around 195 Lbs on December 2007. I finally decided to get serious about it early 2008. I re-joined a Gym and started a routine on my own. I probably lost 5 pounds in 5 months. I was not happy with progress so I incorporated 3 times a week sessions with a personal trainer. From July 2008 to January 2009 with the aid of the trainer, I lost about 20 Lbs. I was much happier with those results, but I was stuck around 170 lbs for few weeks. I decided then to use technology.

I got the LooseIt application for my iPhone. I tried other applications in past and I even got the Wii Fit program and balance board to help with the weight lost, but my best results came from the LooseIt program. With the aid of LooseIt I have lost 13 Lbs in the last two months.

LooseIt is a great simple program that allows me to keep track of all the calories I consume. I am very...
...

UPDATE: August 21st, 2009, 10:10pm: I have been using this app for awhile now and so far I have lost 40 lbs! Yay! So it really does help - you just have to stick to it and add in an exercise regimen. I recommend it to everyone who needs to lose weight. I'm still using it to help keep me in line.

***

I decided to try out this app because it's free and I'm still trying to lose the baby weight from having my daughter 19 months ago (ugh!). I figured, "What the heck - it's free!"

Well, this is the best free app I've ever downloaded! It tracks everything - your weight gain/loss, your calories, exercises and the calories they burn, and even your nutrients such as minerals and vitamins! It also tells you the percentages of carbs, protein, and fat you consume everyday and also weekly at the end of the week.

It has a large database of food that is supplied via http://www.esha.com. You do sometimes have to enter in your own foods but it's so easy that it's no big hassle. When you enter in an item...
...
