We bought this machine 5 years ago and we really stretched to afford it. I had heard nothing but good about this machine. What really sold me was the fact that it uses less water and spins the clothes really dry. From the get go, we noticed that it was really loud. And 2 months after the warranty ran out, a plastic part broke, and the water wouldn't spin out. It cost us over $240 to get that replaced. The techinician told us that this was the one part that always seemed to go. We asked about the noise and he couldn't explain it. We still have this loud machine, and I am ready to move on. I am now looking into a front loader, and there seems to be more and morr of them that spin out at almost the rate as this one. Every type of machine has problems, but this one didn't deliver what it promised. I had even thought I would buy the dryer to go with it but will now save my money and buy a matching washer and dryer. For those of you who are satisfied, I am happy for...
...

Was quiet and washed well at first, but the water pump started giving out after 2 1/2 years and now the coumputer is shot after only 3 years. guy at the store said these are very touchy with ground fault outlets. IF you buy make sure you buy extended warrenty and plug into a non Ground fault outlet. I would be much happier having spent 1/2 as much if I knew it would only last 3 years.
...

My old washer was starting to act up, so decided it was time to replace before I was left with no washer. I used to work at large store selling appliances, so took advantage of the sales. I wash at least 1-2 loads a day, and this washer seems to really be very economical in water usage. Though it's digital, it's still simple to read. I bought a F&P dryer and both together I consider to be one of my best purchases. Highly recommend this washer.
...

candleslady says "The Fisher & Paykel Eco Smart Washer is Awesome!" about Fisher and Paykel Eco Smart Washer

This machine spins out the clothes on the spin cycle so that so much less time is necessary for drying. Realistically, the dryer is used less because my towels and sheets spin out to barely wet when they come out of this washer. It is wonderful to have an "auto" on the fill capacity, because it only uses the water needed due to the size of the laundry which you put in at any given time. It also has a "Soak" feature for my husbands hard to clean work clothes. This feature is also great for removing stains. It also does not spin out of balance, as it has an "auto-balance" mechanism so that if your clothes get out of balance while spinning it will beep so you know it is out of kilter. I also love the "Delay-Start" as I can put laundry in the machine before I leave for work and they are ready to put in the dryer when I get home, so I don't have to worry about the sour smell you might get when doing laundry and leaving it. I would highly recommend this machine to everyone.
...

debbiebf says "Great Washing Machine" about Fisher and Paykel Eco Smart Washer

The Fisher/Paykel Washing Machine is unique. It runs with advanced battery technology instead of a transmission. It sounds like a small jet engine and frequently people will look at me funny if they are visiting and it starts a spin cycle. But it spins much faster and the clothes that come out are so dry they don't have to stay in the dryer very long at all.

I had four teenagers when I got this. It has a huge capacity and does a great job. Clothes are very clean. It is simple to use. It is extremely energy efficient. I have never regretted getting this machine three years ago.

My husband grossly overloaded it once and knocked the basket out of position and it started bumping and grinding and knocking against the outside walls. Oh, my! I pulled the basket back into position, and just ran normal smaller loads for a few days. It has been fine and that was a year ago. The only problem we ever had and it definitely was abuse.
...

Not very handy. The washer just quit working and it is only 7 yrs old. Also has a foul odor when sitting empty. Would rather stick with a main line brand these off brands don't offer helpful user manuals....

My only suggestion for this product would be to change the way detergent is added. You pour it down the center of the spin tower, but there are holes in the tower, so detergent often leaks out onto clothing....

When we first looked at Fisher & Paykel machines I thought "this has to be a joke, right?" A washing machine with a plastic exterior, it won't last a day in our house. Boy, was a wrong!! Not only did it last, but now I would never go back to a traditional washer.

This is our second Fisher & Paykel washer. Our first machine died after 4 great years of service only because our new house was not grounded properly. (I highly recommend using a surge protector with this washer.) We loved our first Fisher & Paykel Eco Smart washer so much that we had to get another one. The Eco Smart does a wonderful job at getting our clothes very clean and does not send our electric meter into overdrive.

This washer is clearly the product of great engineers that were not satisfied with the status quo. Not only did they create a washer that uses significantly less water and electricity than most machines, but they also managed to squeeze a super capacity tub into a neat and compact shell. ...
...
