scorpio834 says "Not impressed with durability" about Fisher Price Elmo Live

We bought this original Elmo Live last year for Christmas for our 1 year old daughter. She loved him in the store and even more when she had him home. She loved that he talked to her and she could interact with him. From that aspect he is great. But she also likes to carry him around--what child wouldn't. That is where the problem began. Elmo started a clicking noise when he talked. My husband calls it "stripped out". Elmo now clicks (his mouth) whenever he talks. My daughter doesn't seem to notice and still likes to play with him, but I would think for the price and the fact that he is for kids, he would be a little more durable or come with a warning not to carry him around. We are disappointed in the quality from that aspect.
...

I bought Elmo Live for my daughter who wasn't even 1 yet. I showed her how to press the buttons on his tummy, toes, back and nose. she had had/has a great time with Elmo. It is so life like its like having the real Elmo from sesame street right in the house with us. She truly loves playing with it. Elmo tells her stories and dances with her. Then he tells her jokes and laughs. When she she presses the buttons and Elmo starts up its like you just gave her the moon. I like that its real easy for her to operate and keeps her entertained for a while. the only down side is the batteries don't last long because she plays with it so much.
...

steph80 says "Elmo Live was a great present" about Fisher Price Elmo Live

Elmo Live was one of the best toys we received. My baby was 8 months when he got it and he likes it a lot. It makes him giggle and makes him listen. Elmo has a lot to say, you push him foot or his chest or squize his nose and he says different things. My baby loves to answer back too and dance with Elmo, I think that's his favorite thing actually, when Elmo dances he goes crazy and strats to clap his hands. It uses batteries and quite a lot actually, that's probably the only bad thing I can think of but besides that it's a cute toy and it's enjoyable for babies of all ages up to 2 or maybe 3 I think (not there yet). It also a good toy to leave him alone with for those few seconds that you have to leave him in the playard do go get the door, it's light and has no sharp corner, it's ovviously soft and cuddly but with hard parts of plastic inside so need to be careful. Overall one very nice present to give or to receive.
...

8) Elmo Live from Fisher-Price is a great toy. It doesn't cost a lot in terms of the joy it creates for both the child and family. It keeps your child entertained for hours, and also your grown up guests!

My child loves to play with Elmo everyday as it's her favorite character. When her friends come over, everyone fights to play with Elmo, so they have to take turns. Children of all ages love Elmo so the charm doesn't wear out.

My child learns to say all the expressions that Elmo does, as well as tries to copy all the moves of this toy. The battery has a really long life, so you don't need to worry about it running out. This toy compares favorably to other expensive toys as it is very reasonably priced and of great value.

I initially watched a preview of Elmo Live from Fisher-Price online, and just had to rush out to the store to buy it. I recommend this toy to all my friends with kids of all age groups.
...

lizaud says "Scared my son but I loved it!" about Fisher Price Elmo Live

Elmo Live

As soon as I took this out of the box my 2 year old son was fasinated with it until it started talking, moving and singing. At first he just stared at it sort of frozen but then he started screaming. I thought maybe he was over stimulated from opening presents so I put it away. He LOVED this toy at the store. Maybe because it was on a shelf in a box. I tried to break it out 3 more times and let my son see it slowly. Each time he would scream, NO NO NO NO! I have no idea what he found so scary about it because he still loves watching Elmo on TV. My only thoughts was it was too life-like.

Now all the adults LOVED this toy. We would break out Elmo after my son went to bed and laugh, and laugh and laugh. He sings, tells jokes, dances, sits..ect. He even has his own little stool. My favorite part is when Elmo falls down (which he will on carpet) and says, "Elmo fell down, will you help Elmo up?" Too funny. I think this toy might be more age appropriate for 3 year olds.
...

reitos says "My little niece is now terrified by Elmo" about Fisher Price Elmo Live

I bought this Elmo toy for my little niece who was just turning two at the time. She had tons to soft stuff Elmo toys, and would watch the show all the time. This Elmo Live toy scared her to death when it was on and she would cry uncontrollable. She would tolerate it when it off, but never much cared for it as it was hard and she couldn't even hug it or carry it with her.

Now I am not completely sure if this toy was suppose to be accidentally left on the floor so the dog could get it, or if my sweet little niece left it there on purpose, but my dog felt that it was worthy of chewing to pieces, and I will admit I am not sad to see it go.

Besides my nieces obvious terror and my dog's hunger for the toy, you have to admit that it has no real educational value. It is a toy meant only for entertainment and makes it no better than sitting your child in front of the television. Because of this toy I've had to help completely change my niece's entire room(as it had Elmo wallpaper and Elmo blankets)...
...

Elmo Live is great! I recently bought one for $30 on sale at my local Target store. My husband kept wanting to get this for our son, who just turned one on 3/26/09, every time he saw it. I didn't want to pay full price for it! After purchasing it I can say that it probably was worth the investment. While our son is still too young to really interact with Elmo he does enjoy watching and listening to him. He especially likes the music and songs. He will bob up and down with delight, "dancing" with Elmo. That would be my only complaint, is if Elmo had more music. I think he only sings two or three songs. He tells two different stories among various other things. You can "take" Elmo's noise and in a funny voice he will tell you "If Elmo doesn't get his nose back, Elmo has to talk like this all day!". Overall we are very pleased with Elmo Live thus far. We have many, many Sesame Street toys and this is the favorite right now. He (we) also really enjoy TMX Cookie Monster. It's a good companion...
...

My son just got Elmo Live for his birthday and loves his new little buddy. My son puts Elmo in his shopping cart and pushes him around the house. I like Elmo Live because he says a variety of phrases not just two or three and his body moves. The only bad thing is that he's a little loud. Overall, great product. I would definately recommend this to my friends. ...

I purchased Elmo Live for our son this past christmas and he loved it. He is almost 2 now. I think it was great that he had a toy that spoke to him. He liked that part of it very much. Having Elmo Live speak to my child in a way that was not you typical "baby talk" can also help him learn a few words. The only problems with it really was when he tried to sit down if the stool is not just right behind him he falls over. Also because he says the same stories over and over again the kids tend not to pay attention to it for too long. But overall I would say it is a very nice toy for children at about 1 1/2 years old....

My son got Elmo Live for Christmas from my aunt and he just loves it! His favorite word is Elmo. When he first opened it and I turned it on he was kind of scared but when Elmo started dancing there was no stopping him. I even had fun pressing his back, foot, and stomach just to see all the things he did. Downside is he doesn't sit well on the chair (way to small) and he just falls over and has to start his joke or whatever over again....
