Buggheart says "This mag for plus size women is not meaty enough." about Figure Magazine

I have only read two issues of Figure magazine but I wasn't too crazy about it. Like others, I got my issue of Figure at Fashion Bug while shopping for clothes. The cashier indicated that the magazine had a coupon inside so if I bought the magazine for around $3 and used the coupon inside I'd basically get the magazine for free and save about $8 off my total. I had been wanting to check it out anyway so I agreed.

The issues I read consists mostly of plus size models wearing clothes for the season. There were articles about choosing jewelry, how to be a good houseguest, and a lengthy article about actress Kathy Najimy but most of the content was simply fashion and not anything else that really interested me or prompted me to do much but flip thru and throw it out.

I do like that the models are plus size and the magazine's content appears to gravitate towards acceptance and happiness at any size/weight. However several of the advertisements in this magazine (and there were plenty...
...

jermak says "Great for the plus size woman!" about Figure Magazine

This is a fun quick read. Great fashions for plus sizes who aren't don't dare for the standard "matronly" styles. Also great coupons in each issue! The only downside is that it features clothing from only a few stores. The articles emphasize health rather than weight loss and emphasize being happy with your life. A good addition to your magazine stash!...

roserighter says "Self-acceptance at any weight." about Figure Magazine

I picked up a copy of Figure Magazine at Fashion Bug (my local plus size clothing store) and would not have even thought to buy it, except the sales women told me about the money saving coupons inside that I could use instantly to save on my purchase. Essentially, the magazine was free and I saved money on the clothes I was going to buy anyway.

Figure prides itself on "celebrating the plus-size woman" and that it does. It features plus sized models from cover to cover, and I'm not talking about the size 12 or 14 that the fashion industry typically uses for "plus size" models. These women represent a growing number of women who have weight issues. But the message behind the magazine isn't weight loss; it is about loving who you are at the size you are. It includes fashion tips, current trends and health advice.

What I don't like about the magazine is that there are very few articles and tons of ads and fashion photos. It is nice to get an idea of how you can get away with wearing different...
...
