Ferris State University is a small town college with all of the resources, facilities, faculty, and equipment of much larger colleges and universities. Classes, on average, are composed at most of about thirty students. Small classes allow for more teacher-student interaction, and the professors actually know your name for more than just the time you have that professor.

Ferris has many top ranked programs, such as the pre-pharm and pharmacy school and many of the technology programs.

One of the drawbacks of the college is the surrounding atmosphere. Because ferris is based in a small town there isn't a whole lot to do around town. There's a movie theater, and some bowling alleys, a disk golf course, and there are some bars down town.

I had a great experience attending Ferris State University. I entered into an actual program straight from high school. I took a full year's worth of classes on campus, and then spent an actual 9 month internship working in my field. The professors were very helpful and easy to relate with. The experience from my internship was priceless. I learned an extraordinarily large amount on campus, and got to actually use it in an internship set up through Ferris for nine months. Upon my graduation I was presented with several job opportunities, and at very competitive wages for my field. I met friends of a lifetime and honestly good people the whole way through. I enjoyed every aspect of my experience at Ferris, and I am proud to be alumni of this great University....

If you want a smaller class size and a more community college like experience with more one-on-one interaction with your professors consider going to Ferris instead of going to a community college. The Pharmacy and Optometry programs are exceptional, and even in the smaller liberal arts programs, the professors are some of the most intelligent and experienced people who are respected in their fields of study. I learned invaluable lessons about the world and about myself in my four years here....
