Ariene says "Avoid at all Cost?" about FedEx

I was home, they didn't even knock and left my package in the middle of a multi-unit apartment complex driveway near the street. I never got my package that I had waited a month for, but I did get the runaround.

I would NEVER use Fedex by choice. NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!

They also said their employees have to pay for claims in full or in part - Is that legal?
...

MtnFun says "Fed Ex Rip-Off; Borders on Fraud" about FedEx

I ordered an item that was supposed to be delivered to my house. No phone call or appointment was made for delivery. I was given no tracking number and had no idea when it might arrive from the company I ordered it from. I get home from work yesterday and find a FedEx door tag saying a delivery was attempted but because nobody was home, a re-delivery must be made. I call the number on the tag and am told I can leave a signed note stating it's OK to leave the item. No extra delivery charges were mentioned. This morning I get a call asking to arrange a delivery appointment and there will be a $77 re-delivery fee. I ask, "Why is there an extra charge when no appointment was made for the previous delivery attempt?" FedEx claims they called me and made an appointment, however, that would have been impossible because nobody was home when they claimed they called and I never spoke to them. FedEx refused to waive the fee. I ask for a supervisor. That supervisor asks their supervisor and then...
...

sh012068 says "I did not think you were there" about FedEx

I paid $77.85 to have a package be delivered overnight by FedEx. Instead it took two days. Why the delay, the driver, who had the package on his truck on day one, decided on his own that he did not think we would be open. He failed to get to our business by 5 pm and so he decided not to deliver the package. I was at my business until 8 PM waiting delivery. The next day when he did deliver my package (at 3:30ish pm) he admitted that he did not think we were in so he did not stop. What reliability. My other experience with FedEx was when they delivered a package to my business and it was to go to a person in the next town over (not even the same zip code or town name). I had to call them and they had to come for the package. That driver on the delivery, could not even find the doorbell and the instructions to use the phone, which is right there, to gain admission to our offices.
...

Neville says "Pathetic service from FedEx" about FedEx

Have just put down the phone to FedEx. For three days in a row they have left a tag on my front door saying that "they missed me". I work from home; in fact only 10 feet from the front door. In todays incident I heard a vehicle outside, looked up and saw the truck driving away, No knock or ringing of the doorbell. I'm wondering if the driver either gets overtme pay if he has to do repeat deliveries, or if it is a way of providing job security in the current economy. If anyone has a better idea, please let me know.

I have had the same problem before (in Feb 09) when I couldn't understand how I could miss the doorbell. Ever since then I try to avoid FedEx whenever possible.
...

My business experience is not that great. When it comes to dealing damage parcels and claims, my business files small collections against them. Currently Fed Ex is not scanning in all the parcels and shipping claiming the items are not in their possession to defeat damage claims. They are schemeing to defeat claims. Instead of cleaning up or correcting their problems. From a business point of view that is bad business.
...

jeffhanson1 says "FedEx vs UPS" about FedEx

A package was delivered to me via FedEx. I've received packages from UPS too so I have some noteworthy comparisons.

Unless a direct signature is required, FedEx will often try to leave the package with the residence next door. If you aren't friends with each other, haven't met each other (sadly common these days), or on bad terms, that can spell trouble or make for an awkward situation.

FedEx made 3 morning delivery attempts at the same time of day. It hasn't occurred to them that they may have better luck trying other time slots like 12-3pm or 3-6pm like UPS. The policy states 3 delivery attempts must be made before it is held at the FedEx facility. What a waste of resources and energy. UPS policy is you can call the number on the door sticker to have the package held after the FIRST attempt. MAKES SENSE. UPS wins on common sense alone!
...

I was expecting a package from Cox Communications for a digital TV converter box. Cox did not tell me that they'd sent it, nor did they give me a Fedex tracking number. First mistake. The first delivery failed because I was not home (Friday, 2:30pm. I work, right? Plus, I was not expecting it.) A signature was required. The next day was Saturday. Wife and I were both home all day. Rainy/snowy. No doorbell, no knock. Didn't know the delivery had been attempted until I saw the door tag later that afternoon when I checked the mail. Thought this was strange. Checked the doorbell, it works just fine. Nice and loud. The next Monday I stayed home, expecting the package. Fedex website said estimated delivery was 2/23/09. I waited and waited. Two Fedex trucks went by. One actually delivered a package to my neighbor across the street. Two Fedex trucks came through my neighborhood in a three hour span, couldn't they have thrown my package onto one of them? Incomprehensible. At that point I called......

lisa72 says "Not always the best way to go" about FedEx

Fedex has it's good points. It's usually fairly reliable. Although their money-back guarantee is anything but. You know when it absolutely has to be there guarantee. Well, sometimes it doesn't make it on time. And it seems that once in a while when a claim is filed it gets lost in the system as if it was never filed. By the time a consumer discovers it's taking too long to get that refund, it's too late to refile. So be aware that if you need to file a claim, keep a close eye on it or you may never get your money refunded....

FedEx would not deliver today because of a "weather emergency" even though they were paid outrageous sums for "overnight" delivery and promised to do just that. Mind you the USPS and UPS both delivered much less expensively shipped packages during this same "emergency". My husband said his company doesn't even use FedEx any more because their customers were so angry about late shipments. FedEx doesn't hold itself to a very high standard and I would not recommend using them to ship anything if there is another choice.
...
