We bought the Evenflo Secure Step Metal gate because it looked sturdy and it looked easy for us to use. After installing it, we practiced using it for a few days. It took us a few minutes to figure out how to unlatch it and then discovered it was VERY difficult to open with one hand and you cannot just swing it closed. We decided to take it back and invest a little more money to buy a gate that we love (Evenflo Home Decor Stair Gate)....

This child gate is horrible. My two year old son figured out how to open it within an hour of us installing it. We now have to strap a belt around the bars of the stairs and th gate to keep the baby from opening it.

We have since installed a half-door, this is the most safe secure and child-proof method i have ever seen. Childgates are a joke to any parent with a slightly curious or mischevious child.

Dont waste your money.
