We had done some research but not a lot since our vacuum bit the dust on short notice. We settled on the <strong>Eureka Capture Upright Vacuum with Pet Hair Brush</strong>. We had also looked at some Dyson vacuums, which we had heard a lot of great things about but due to the cost we settled on a cheaper vacuum. This vacuum had a great suction power, which we both loved. However, it got clogged every time we used it! There were times when we would vacuum and not be able to get it unclogged without having to unscrew the hose from the handle and literally stick a long neck pliers or even a wire  hanger down the hose to get it unclogged. We also found that the contraption to the canister was constantly clogged, therefore, clogging up the hose, which would then get dirt all over the place b/c we had to unclog it. The entire vacuum was clogged on a regular basis. And, for it having a pet hair brush, I would have thought the vacuum wouldn't get clogged...</p>... BUT when others mention things like 'I have to clean the foam filters too often' isn't that a sign it is working and working hard to remove the dust from your carpet and your home, and maybe a good problem to have ?? After going online and checking out the pros and cons about this vacuum I decided to purchase it and have not been disappointed !! We have 2 kids, 2 adults and 2 cats in our house and I never question whether or not it is up to the challenge. I vacuum at least 3 times a week and it always picks up the cat hair, lint and whatever else it runs into. The tools offer great suction, and the power paw is a cool add on that cleans the stairs in no time. Just like anything else you buy you have to maintain it, I check/clean the filters weekly and change the HEPA filter by Eureka's spec (6 Months) and have never, ever had an issue. For an inexpensive vacuum cleaner, defiantly...</p>... Mon, 03 Aug 2009 23:01:58 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/Eureka-Vacuum-Eureka-Capture-Plus-review-33601 spidertodd 5 http://www.viewpoints.com/Eureka-Vacuum-Eureka-Capture-Plus-review-db8f6 <p>I bought this vacuum cleaner over a year ago and decided on this one mainly because of the "power paw" attachment.  I was hoping that it would make it easier to vacuum my stairs and couch.  Unfortunately it became quickly apparent that the power paw was not going to be a great accessory.  It gets clogged EVERY time I use it (but please note that this is largely because I have a long-haired dog that sheds) and it is not worth cleaning out every time.  I LOVE the washable filters, I have not had to replace them yet, but I am about to replace my second belt already.  I used to have a bag vacuum and I don't think I emptied it enough because it was hard to tell when it is full, so on the Eureka, I do like the bagless canister.  It is easy to empty and easy to see when it needs to be emptied (which for me is every time I use it).  The suction is still pretty good, but already not as good as when I purchase it.  The hose is not as long as I'd like (I don't use the attachments to clean...</p>... I have two long haired cats that shed all over my 1920's mohair sofa. The power paw hose attachment does a fantastic job pulling all the hair from the cracks and crevices without damaging the fabric. It's also great for stairs. The vacuum has a nice long cord and easily goes from regular wall to wall carpet to oriental rugs on carpet without having to stop and adjust. And I just can't believe how much gunk this thing picks up - amazing! I had to get rid of two other brand new vacuums because the cat hair would get stuck in the hose / filters rendering them useless. The Capture + has an easily removable filter screen that allows for quick removal of any cat hair that may collect. While it is a bit heavy, it's not a problem because it's easy to maneuver and the back wheels are larger than normal so getting up the stairs is a cinch. I have a dog and three cats in the house so have lots of pet hair. This vacuum is great for sucking up hair. I will vacuum and vacuum and it sucks up crap I can't even see. Its very easy to empty and its canister is large for lots of hair and dirt colleting.  They don't call this the vacuum the  Pet Lover for nothing. I do hate the hair balls that come w/having pets. The only slight set back is its a little heavu for carrying up the stairs but that doesn't even matter much. It has all kinds of attachments and a extendable feather like duster that u stick into the vacuum and it sucks the crap off of it to clean it for u. It even get up close to the wall w/the side brushes.... The vacuum is a mid priced vacuum and offers many features. The suction is excellent! The Eureka Capture + doesn't miss a speck of dirt. It works well with carpet cleaner and spot remover. The see through window to view the roller is an added plus. You don't have to wonder if suction is ever lost due to a clog. It would be visible. My only complaint is the length of the hose. It is a bit too short and can't get the corners of the ceilings. It does come with an electrostatic duster that can...I just prefer to suck up the cobwebs.... We ended up with the Eureka Capture and LOVE it. Because we wanted a true test of how well it worked, we vacuumed an area with our older Bissell(about 9 years old). Then we repeated immediately the Eureka. It was astonishing and a little disturbing how much pet hair and loose dirt were picked up. I have to admit, it makes vacuuming more rewarding when you can see the results right away, both in the carpet &amp; when you dump the container. We were so excited about the results, we took it over to my parents to repeat the test. They have a central vacuum system. The sand picked up from my neat freak mother's living room was enough to convince her to purchase the vacuum right away. In fact, they paid me for ours and we had to go get another! I recommend this for everyone, expecially with pets. We have been unable to find anything else to pick up as much of our very lab's......
