I did alot of research after my Dirt Devil bit the dust! :) I needed something with a lot of power and contain the dirt and dust. This machine is great although it is bit on the heavy side. The hose attachment is easy to use but the attachments tend to fall off the back of the machine. The cord is super long and great to use but a retractor would definately help! The HEPA filter and bag system work well to contain the dirt and allergens while vacuuming. Great machine.

The Eureka Boss Smartvac Bagged Upright Vaccuum Cleaner has many pluses. It cleans well and it picks up pet hair well. It's very durable and lasts a long time. I once had to replace a belt but you can expect to do that with almost any vacuum cleaner. It has a nice headlight feature and replacing the bulbs is quick and easy. Most of all, it's inexpensive. I got mine on sale for less than a hundred bucks and it's still going strong.

There are a couple of points that might not make it right for everyone. The vacuum is heavy so if you are older or have a physical disability, you may want to investigate lighter model vacuums. The stretchy hose is not long enough for many tasks but most vaccuums in this class don't offer a hose at all so that's a minor point.

Are there better vacuums out there? Sure but they'll cost you three or four times as much. If you're looking for an inexpensive vacuum that cleans very well, the Eureka Boss Smartvac Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner is an unusually good...

We were at our wits end with the dreaded "Pet Hair Takeover". We had purchased a bagless vacuum from another store and it it was horrible. I thought the days of having to stuff things into a vacuum were over but that's basically what happened. Well, just before the holidays were to start up, I knew that I could never have people over if they were just going to end up wearing our pets home so I called a freind to borrow her vacuum and on the day that I was going to go pick it up, my fiance said "we may as well just go get our own". He said that since K-mart and Sears were merged that K-mart would probably take his Sears credit card so I called and sure enough, they do!!! Off we went after checking both Sears and K-Mart websites to see which had any sales on vacuums and decided we like the choices at K-Mart better. We got a Eureka "The Boss" "Smart Vac" with the "Pet Lover" system. Scott, my fiance, had already made up his mind that we would never own another bagless vacuum so that really......

I got my Eureka The Boss Smartvac a couple of years ago. I have been through a series of vacuum cleaners, and grew progressively more cynical about the claims about their powers and durability. whe I gave up on my old vac, I decided to go online and see what others I chatted with on various forums had to say about their vacuum cleaners and what they recommended. I finally decided that this one sounded like what I wanted. an upright with lots and lots of vacuum power, a wide track, easy access to the use of the hose for getting cobwebs etc. and easy to push around. I have allergies to the max, so I also liked the idea of the MicronFilter.

This baby was everything I had hoped for and then some. I found that my carpeting, already several years old, looked and new! I was pulling out dirt from deep down that had never come up before. It is easy to handle, and I don't go into sneezing fits while vacuuming. The bag is verrrrry roomy, I am not changing it all the time, and the Micron Filter is...

I love my Boss Vacuum by Eureka with a bag. I had a Hoover bagless and it didnt work like the Eureka Boss. It picks up dog hair and I like the on board attachments, it is east to go from floor to using the the attachments.

I could use the vacuum all day.

for the price this is the best vacuum cleaner around bar none...it is easy to use and easy to take care of and it never has a problem...

Eureka Boss Smartvac is great with kitty litter--I used to have a bagless vacuum and had to empty it at least three times while vacuuming, but with the bagged version it is just so much easier...

I have owned a Eureka Boss Bagged upright vacuum for probably the last eight years and it has been one of the best vacuums I have ever owned. I just recently finally had to replace it but I wish I could have found another one just like it. Even the last week I owned it it still picked up anything that came near it just as good as it did when it was new. I have never had anything more than a few clogged hoses the entire time I have owned this vacuum. It has always picked up items on the floor with ease ( even ones it wasn't suppose to) and has never let me down. Other vacuums I have had in the past usually only lasted a year or two and stopped picking up as well after a few times but the Eureka Boss has never had any of them problems. The nicest part is that it is one of the cheaper vacuums on the market as well, a real surprise of quality. I would love to own another one of these in the future....

The Eureka 4870 is amazing. The machine is solid, and I was afraid I would have a hard time handling the Eureka 4870 . No way, it moves forward with a touch. And it does a great job picking up cat fur also. The Eureka 4870 also comes with cleaning attachments. The nesting wands make cleaning up after spiders almost effortless....

I bought this vaccuum from Costco because it was listed as a Best Buy in Consumer Reports...and cheap! Turns out that it is great at picking up pet hair, as the review suggests. The most common negative that I saw when researching this vaccuum was the heft of the product. People reported that it was heavy. I guess I feel that a heavy weight lets me know it's "gettin in there". But I don't think it weighs too much at all. Good luck and I hope that all dog owners get this vaccuum. I've used the attachments a few times, but I honestly think the basic vaccuum works wonders on this product!

This is a good bargain. I've been happy with it's performance and feel it was well worth the money. Only had one problem and it was completely covered under the warranty. Just took it to an authorized dealer near my home and it was fixed without question. Consumer Reports rates this model high. ...

I have an earlier version of this vacuum but I just love it. I researched online until my hands were crippled and thought I would not be able to afford a really good upright until I found this one. It tops any I have ever had for suction and ease of use. I will never own a vacuum that is bagless so this one suits me. I hate the mess of empting a bagless and my dust allergy hates it too. The floor or hose feature is easy to switch and there is great suction on both. My daughter is wanting a Dyson and can't really afford it. I am hoping to talk her into this one....
