I bought this when it came time to carry my daughter on my back because the front was impossible anymore because she was too heavy. It was a wonderful relief! Now that I have a newborn I prefer the snugli. The Ergo with the infant insert is too bulky. I will use the Ergo again when I don't need the insert anymore.
...

I bought this carrier, because I had a boy and he outgrew the weight-limit on the other baby carriers by 3 months old. I read a few reviews and decided to give it a try.... so glad I did. I STILL use this carrier on a regular basis for my 30 pound, 2 year old son. He loves riding on my back in the store and it is so much easier than lugging out my 50 pound stroller. I give the designers an A+ on design and functionally.
...

I saved up my money to purchase one of these after my son was over 15 pounds and a typical front carrier hurt my back to much to use. The baby ergo is perfect for tiny ones up to toddlers! When he was 25 pounds I could carry him on my back for 2 hours and not be sore at all.

It takes a bit of practice to learn how to get it on and off, but you'll catch on in no time.

Also great for hikes, traveling, walks, shopping, etc! You won't regret buying this quality item!
...

As a mom of eight children, all nursed and baby-worn, I've tried several baby carriers over the years. The cheap ones are simply not worth the money, and after going through several of them I bought a Bjorn when my oldest was still a baby. I loved it and still think that it is a GREAT carrier, but a couple of babies ago I switched to an Ergo and never looked back. I had shoulder surgery between children, and even though three years went by before having the next baby, I found that the Bjorn hurt my shoulder once the baby was a couple of months old. I decided to try the Ergo since so many of my friends suggested it and I was truly amazed at the difference. I've had no shoulder pain and no back or muscle fatigue at all. In fact, I wore my 15 month old on my back while 7 months pregnant - I wore him all day long while canning 60 quarts of applesauce! I could never have canned while using a front-only carrier (never really cooked while wearing a baby in front) and certainly couldn't...
...

We have the black Ergo Carrier. We first used our Ergo carrier with our 1 year old on a trip to Hawaii. It was a life saver! we didn't need our stroller. My husband was able to wear her on his back during hikes with no problem. I now use it with our 6 month old to go to Disneyland she will sleep all day in it and don't have any shoulder pain like I do when I use the pouch sling. It's a little hard to use the back carrying option with no help, but once you get the hang of it, it's no problem.
...

and so do I! I started out with the Moby wrap and that worked fairly well for us, but it was a hot to wear, inconvenient to wrap when out and about, and tricky (but possible) to nurse in. I knew I wanted something else, but baby carriers are expensive and one could easily spend a fortune trying out all the variations.

We decided on the Ergo and we couldn't be happier. We've had it for six months now and it is the number one thing I could not live without as far as all baby gear is concerned. I too was worried about her only facing inwards, but she has never minded and she seems to prefer it. She holds on like a little koala bear as we go about our daily business. Unlike the Moby, she isn't flat against my chest, she's sitting, so that she can easily check out the scenery by looking to the sides.

When she was big enough--probably in the neighborhood of 5.5 or 6 months, I started wearing her on my back and that is great! Now when I do those glorious household tasks like cleaning toilets and...
...

I had an Ergo for awhile and it is a decent carrier. I think the big issue is what you are used to using prior to using an Ergo, if you've used other carriers, including wraps, Mei Tais, Buckle Tais, etc you might find it lacking. Those who are a bit intimidated by carriers sometimes find it a nice step into the world of better babywearing carriers.

I'd definitely put Ergo into the category of good carriers, unlike Snugglies, Baby Bjorns and Baby Trekkers who hold the baby in anatomically incorrect positions and put too much force on the hips. The fact that this carrier is widely known and carried in many stores is a definite perk as it breaks a really good carrier to a much wider audience than many other carriers.

My issues with the Ergo are that it has an extrememly short body, which is why it can't be used for infants without the insert. other carriers in a similar style have a long enough body to allow a new born to scrunch up froggie style against you and be snug in the carrier. Also,...
...

When I had my son three years ago, I knew I would be a baby wearer. But it took a long time for me to find the perfect tool for the job. I had a moby wrap, an ultimate baby carrier, a baby bjorn, a hand made mei tai, and a side carry sling. But it was not until a friend gave me an Ergo Baby that I finally figured out how easy babywearing could be. Don't get me wrong, the others were great for when he was an infant, but as my son got bigger, and fast, they were all too hard on my back.

The Ergo Baby Carrier puts the weight on your hips, not on your shoulders and back, so it makes it much easier to carry a steadily growing child. And this carrie will hold VERY large toddlers. Now that my kiddo is 3, he does most of his own walking, but in a pinch, he is still only 34 pounds, and will still fit in the Ergo, which is absolutely amazing. My son loved being carried on my back, and I am strictly amazed that I was able to continue carrying him for so long considering how heavy he got. Plus, it's...
...

I purchased my ERGO carrier when my son was about 6 months old. I wore him in the front postition most of the time until he was a little older. Initially it was tricky to get him on my back when I was by myself, but I got better with practice. This carrier is just so easy to keep in the car and have for those times when you really need it. I like that it easily fits on most adults without any major adjustment. My husband and I can switch off, even the grandparents can use it.

My favorite has been travel use. I throw my toddler in the ERGO on my back to easily get through the airport...even with luggage and car seat when I am by myself! I can wear him through security and even reach his feet to pop his shoes off to go through the metal detectors. I typically wear him from the moment we get out of the car all the way to our gate.

I have tried to use the hip position, but I found it didn't work well for us. I had trouble getting him out, including his feet getting caught...
...

I didn't want to give up running and hiking with my toddler in a carrier BUT he is only a couple pounds away from the 32lb limit on our carrier.

I looked into carriers and the one with the best reviews for comfort and etc that is a toddler carrier too (goes up to 40lbs) is the ergo. But these things are EXPENSIVE!!!

So I sold a couple diapers and cashed in some $$$ from a survey site I do and came up with enough for an ergo :) I went looking on diaperswappers (which had great prices but I never got to them in time) and ebay where I came across a brand new in package ergo buy it now for $100 and free shipping () from a seller with 100% positive feedback out of thousands.

It came about a week later :)

Here's a couple pictures we took before a family walk. They aren't really great ones of the carrier, but you can see that it fits and adjusts amazingly well for my porker toddler :) I really like the feel of it, it does put some weight on your shoulders, but you can feel...
...

Looking for a healthy way to carry your baby? Look no further than the Ergo Carrier! Although it's a little expensive, you'll get years of use out of it. When your baby is young you can wear them in the front. You'll have them close against your body, but your hands will be free to get thing done. As your baby gets older you can move them to your back if you like. They can see what's going on, and it's a great way to carry your little one long or short distances.

This carrier has been invaluable to us on many occasions. We take it anytime we'll be somewhere where it won't be easy to get a stroller in and out. I've used it while hiking in the mountains, as well as navigating the crowded streets of New Orleans. While a stroller would have been impossible to use in these situations, the Ergo did a wonderful job. Additionally, the ergo is much healthier for baby than many other carriers. Your babies bottom sits on a pouch rather than all of their weight being on their...
...

I bought an Ergo to use with my son when he was about 5 months old. I had previously used a Kelty Kangaroo, and loved that, but he was getting too big for it. I found that the Ergo takes so getting used to in terms of getting him in it easily, but the older he gets, the easier it is getting.

For wearing him across my chest, the Ergo is very comfortable. The straps are padded really well, so they don't dig. I never used it with an infant insert, so I have no idea if that makes it more or less comfortable. The only difficulty I have with using it for a baby in front is that it's really hard to do the strap across your back without someone to help you. I have no idea how people manage this by themselves, but it must be possible.

I love the Ergo for carrying him on my back. Especially now that he's old enough to stand up while I get him put together. I've carried a 30 lb toddler for 3 hours of walking around with no problems. The straps don't dig on your shoulders, the...
...

The Ergo baby carrier is the best of the best! I started with a bjorn and was always having to re-situate my baby, tighten the straps, or sit down because my back would hurt. Then my sister told me about the Ergo and let me borrow hers and I loved it. This thing holds the baby in place, can be worn more ways that the bjorn can, keeps the straps where you set them at and provides a thick buckle strap for back support. It's great! Unlike most baby carriers this can be worn front, back, or hip which is great! It is very lightweight material so it breathes very well and isnt bulky. The Ergo also can carry more weight that a bjorn which mean it can be used longer without having to buy several carriers in different sizes for growing babies. I worn my Ergo on our flight to Aruba with the twins and it worked amazingly, keeping the baby on me at all times (and my husband wore one too) and keeping them comfortable while also not being ackward for myself (or him) to wear, making it comfortable for...
...

Oh Ergo Baby, how do I love thee, let me count the ways. I am not quite sure what I would do without the Ergo baby carrier. It calms a crying baby, it is great for walks outside in the rain with an umbrella (no bulky wet stroller), it is gentle on my back, fits both mommy and daddy, super durable, practical, safe, and just all around praise-worthy!

I want to emphasize that waiting until baby is old enough is not necessary with this carrier, it is great with a new born and promotes the bond and closeness of parent and child. She is so happy when she is snuggled there, and at this age (2.5 mo) she pretty much falls asleep in five minutes even if I put her in there when she is wide awake. The infant insert is so handy, I use it sometimes to just lull her to sleep, that way she does not wake up when I put her down. It also keeps her from waking up when transferring from carrier to crib. Snuggly warm in the winter too.

With warm weather finally on the horizon I am excited to take her on trail...
...

We decided to get the Ergo baby carrier when our son was born a year ago after reading many reviews. At the time, it was relatively new and most of our friends had a different carrier. However, since I struggle with back problems, the promise of the Ergo baby carrier to be easy on your back was very appealing! We are so glad we got it as well as the infant insert and definitely recommend it to all of our friends.

Pros:

Great for variety of ages and weights-infant (with insert) to 40 pounds or so

The weignt is carried on your hips (like a back-packing backpack) and the straps are thick and comfortable. I have never had pain when wearing this carrier.

You can wear it on your front, hip or back depending on the needs of you and your baby.

There is a hood that covers the baby's head and is perfect for either protecting them from the sun or allowing them to take a nap when you are out and about.

Negatives:

I am petite and the shoulder straps sometimes slip off unless I tighten them very tight. ...

...
