I am a huge movie buff and I love a good laugh. If you watch this movie, you will laugh throughout the entire movie. I am a big Will Farrell fan and he does an excellent job in this movie. My daughter has recently begun watching this movie and she is 5 and loves it too. This is suppose to be a comedy but I also believe that it can help show the true meaning of Christmas as well as spending time with your family. It is a funny yet heart warming movie. Some of my favorite scenes are the snowball fights with the neighborhood children, when Buddy works at the toys store, when Santa visits the toy store and the ending of course! This a movie everyone should watch with their family, especially during the holidays. And if you need a good laugh, this is the movie to watch. The acting is good, the lines are written well and the cast is a good one. I also believe that the movie is on sale during the holiday season as well.

Elf is the best holiday movie ever. (Yes, it's a Christmas movie, but it dominates the entire season.)

Elf is joke after joke, simultaneously taking Santa's existence seriously, making it perfect for children, yet poking fun at itself, appealing to adult sensibility. Delivering entirely naïve drivel in the face of adult cynicism is Elf's specialty formula for humor.

The casting of the main characters is inspired.

Only Will Ferrell could pull off Buddy credibly, delivering child-like phrases believably, for instance the scene in which he makes small talk with the little girl Carolyn in the doctor's office waiting room.
James Caan is fantastic. He has a certain facial expression which makes him look perpetually skeptical and pissed off about everything while still cracking a suggestion of a smile. His acting grounds the entire movie in believability.
Zooey Deschanel as Jovie is as delicious as a vanilla ice cream cone, and she carries a believable sincerity necessary for the role.

I was not sure I was going to like this movie when I saw the previews. I thought it was going to be way to silly for me. But I am so glad I watched it anyways. It was funny, clever, cute, and had good actors in it.

Elf is one of my favorite movies of all time! I can't get through the holiday season without watching Elf at least once. Although sometimes I watch it a few more times than that. Will Ferell is hilarious and I could watch his movies all day long. Elf has that "dumb funny" attribute. "Buddy the Elf" is so serious about everything. It's not like he's trying to be funny.

"Buddy the Elf" is a human and has always believed that he was an elf until "Papa Elf" has to sit down and explain to Buddy that he is not an elf. He then travels to New York from the North Pole and tracks down his real father. He tries to convince his family that he really is an elf, even though they think he is crazy.

It's a hilarious movie for the enitre family. Kids will love it! It's full of clean comedy. I would recommend Elf to anyone. Also I would recommend any other Will Ferell movie out there. He is so funny!

I have watched the movie Elf several times. I usually watch it around Christmas and each time it is as funny as the next. The great thing about it is it is appropriate for the family and its a good movie for people of all ages. Will Ferrell is very funny in this movie as he is in most of his movies. Will's character Buddy was an orphan until an elf took him in as his own and raised him as his son. Buddy is raised in the north pole with elves and as he grows he begins to realize he is different. His father then tells him that he is really a human and that he is not is real father which send him on a search to New York to find his real father.He finds himself in a totally different world and it is just hilarious all of his strange likes and habits. I wont tell the rest you will have to find out what happens to Buddy the Elf. I recommend this movie to anyone looking to have a good laugh or anyone looking for a good Christmas movie.

What else can I say about Elf except, amazing. This is a classic Christmas movie. Will Ferrell nails the part in this movie and that is what makes it so much fun to watch. This is a movie that we pull out every single Christmas season. We love sit down with a cup of "the world's greatest coffee" and enjoy the ride. The best part about this movie is that it is totally appropriate for pretty much all ages. It is great to have a truly funny movie that is not filled with a bunch of vulgar or inappropriate trash. One of the other reasons that this is such a great movie is because of the castings of the characters. Not only is Ferrell perfect, but the father and the character that play Miles Finch are classic. One of the greatest parts is Buddy's interaction with Miles Finch and the ensuing battle that takes place. Good, clean fun that really does tickle your funny bone. This is an uplifting movie that will cheer you up and bring warmth during the cold Christmas season!

this is one of the best christmas movies of all time. this boy is raised as an elf, decides he's no good at tinkering and goes to new york city. he finds his dad, a huge publisher and tries to become instant father and son, the hilarity starts from the beginning and never ends. Will Farrell is amazing and keeps you laughing the whole time. The cast was great, and I have to see this movie at least 5 times during the holiday season. Not including the times it comes on tv. If you are looking for a great message, this is it.

By far one of the funniest movies ever made, classic vintage Will Farrell at his best. Will Farrell doesn't stop making you laugh in this christmas movie, where he convinced me that he might just really be an ELF in real life. Just Kidding. Very believable character Buddy goes on a journey which can only be described as funny, amusing, entertaining, fun for the whole family, easy to bring you holiday cheer, packed with enough laughs to keep you giggling for hours at how Childish Will is able to portray himself as. Awesome movie, that I must watch every time it is aired on television, I own the 2 disk DVD special edition, which is loaded with plenty of extras for those huge die hard Will Farrell fans like myself, with enough laughs to keep you smiling for days after watching with plenty of memorable scenes, quotable lines and anyone of any age can watch this comedy classic that will be a movie that is watched by generations and generations to come!

We love ELF. This movie is great .it doesn't matter what time of yeaar it is, we watch it year round as a family. My kids love seeing the reindeer flying over NYC at the end Wil Farrell is great as the son looking for his father. He lets you see things almost as if he was a child being in New york City by himself. He seems so innocent. The trouble he gets into is great, but nothing to far out there. it is kept real, well as real as a movie with Santa Claus in can be. I almost find myself believing in sant Claus myself sometimes. it is amazing ewhat you can do if you just have faith and believe and this movie makes me want to believe in lots of things. you life can turn itself around if you try. nothing is impossible even in New Yoirk City. However finding his father did seem just a liittle bit too easy in New York City.He finally finds his true love and starts his own family. Will Ferrel's best movie. It is a feel good comedy. I watch it every year and still laugh the whole way through. Elf combines 2 things i love - comedy and christmas - couldn't ask for a better holiday movie. During the holiday season, this movie is on tv alot, and I watch it every chance I get. Will Ferrell is hilarious. Zooey Deschanel is great too. I love her and don't think anything she's been in was bad. Just thinking about parts now I am giggling to myself. I have to admit James Caan is not one of my favorite actors adds to the cast nicely. I love all comedies. I am notmuch a of a Will Ferrell fan but this is one of my favorite movies of his. I guess maybe because I have a crude sense of humor. Even my kids love it, and the humor in this movies is kid friendly. This is a movie that you don't have to watch just at Christmastime but you can atch it anytime of year and it is still just as funny....

I had always assumed that Elf would be a film with some crude humor. Not that I would have minded, as I've definitely been known to enjoy that type of movie, but I just don't want it mixed up with my Christmas movies. Christmas movies are supposed to be warm and full of spirit with a message about believing in the end. Once I finally couldn't avoid it anymore, I was shocked to find Elf as exactly what I always wanted in a Christmas movie.

Will Ferrell plays Buddy the elf. He wasn't born an elf, but a human, and was raised by elves at the North Pole. It wasn't long before he was outgrowing everything at the North Pole that was elf-sized, including the lap of the man that had acted as his father, Papa Elf (Bob Newhart). Buddy learns he was adopted and that his real father is alive and well in New York, and leaves Papa Elf, Santa (Ed Asner), and the other elves behind and heads to the Big Apple to find his dad. Raised with the elves, he's still very childlike, and just wants to play games with......
