LisaCarey says "Saves me time reading labels in the grocery store!" about Eat This Not That!

Sure, I love reading fiction, and I honestly didn't pick this book up thinking about "reading" but about saving myself some time trying to figure out what our family should and shouldn't be eating. With the book Eat This Not That I can find out how to make better choices for myself and my family while dining out, cooking at home and even packing lunches.

This book is divided into easy to read and reference categories that help me choose what I should be eating at many popular restaurants or what I should be ordering for my children. Popular restaurant ideas are offered for Ruby Tuesday's, Applebee's and many fast food restaurants.

Eat This Not That also helps you determine what foods you could use as a substitute for your holiday cooking and treats as well as saves you tons of time standing in the aisle of the grocery store. I think that is one of my favorite parts of the book is that after a few times consulting the grocery section I can automatically decide which cereals, breads,...
...

I watch the show Biggest Loser and I saw this book on that show. The author David Zinczenko was on the show. Really caught my attention. I bought it one day and I love it. Gave me some great ideas on how to eat more healthy. And in the book it points out the difference in calories with all the kinds of food. From dairy to chips to frozen. I had been buying the Weight Watchers frozen ice cream sandwiches until I saw them in this book. I now buy the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. I know there are 2 other books and I want to get the one with all the restaurants in it. Helps to know what to order and what not to.
...

I love this book. It breaks down the reasons why certain foods are a better choice. Also it gives tid bits of info about different foods on each page. When it comes right down to it most of us already know the right food choices, we just don't always make them....

"Eat This Not That" is a great quick refrence book for eating out while still being able to control calorie and fat intake. It is amazing what you think is a healthier choice turns out to be the wrong choice. I have flipped through this book numerous times just for filler reading or when I'm trying to decide what to eat at what location. All the major food chains are listed in this book as well as favorite types of snack and deserts, the book shows the comparison of calorie, sugar & fat intake in quantities....

Do you hear it? You know, that little voice inside your head that's screaming at you not to eat the second bowl of ice cream or to put down your third piece of pizza.

Eat This, Not That is, in essence, the guide you need to eat better in the REAL world. The real world -meaning life outside of careful kitchen measurements and pre-packaged food. It's a world filled with greasy, fatty food.

Didn't you ever wonder why you suddenly put on 20 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas?

This is a book that is made for us, the real people of the world who are trying to get back on the healthy track.

A few things I would like to point out first about Eat This, Not That:

1) It's not a collection of diet recipes - it never was meant to be a collection of food for you to make at home. Not shopping lists. No recipes. Just ways to improve poor eating habits, like eating out.

2) Not a dieting fad - this isn't a way to just lose weight. This is a lifestyle change.

If you're like me, you know...
...

Dieting is a popular pastime in the USA and most every person in the land is either on a diet at present or was dieting at some point in the recent past. Many businesses have come forward with what they feel is the perfect diet plan: One that promises results in only a matter of weeks while requiring little effort on the part of the dieter. Most of these fad diets and instant result diets don't do what they say and many people gain the weight back in a short time. But one weight loss method that has been proven to work is the simple concept that you need to burn more calories than you consume. One book that promotes this traditional approach to weight loss is Eat This, Not That!: The No Diet Weight Loss Solution, a book by David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding.

Book Commentary:

Eat This, Not That! Is an amazing little reference guide that brings back the often forgotten method for weight loss: The simple concept that you can lose weight without any special formulated plan and without any...
...

What a novel concept - bright colorful pictures of "bad" and "good" choices at popular restaurants. Who knew that Chipotle's burrito is over 1000 calories!?! And that in many restaurants, the salads and turkey burgers are worse options than some of the more daunting menu items?

This book makes it easy to choose the right food to help meet your goals. Not only does it include calorie information, but also data on trans fats, sodium, and other nutrients you might want to keep tabs on.

There is also a section that takes a deeper look at menus from neighborhood restaurants - translating the common phrases seen on Sports Bar, Diner, Mexican (etc.) menus so you know what to steer clear of and which are better choices.

The book also does a good job of giving "splurge" options - items that might have a "bad" element, but also have a really "good" benefit as well.
...

This book has the in's and out's of eating. Instead of saying that you must eat this type of bread or this type of cereal, like other diet books, Eat This Not That is a book for those in the real world, as in those that do not have personal chefs. Instead of boycotting fast food, this book shows you what you could eat from McDonalds, Jimmy John's, Pizza Hut, etc that won't kill your diet. Along with showing the calories, fat, sugar, and cholesterol from the best four items and the worst four items, it gives you tips on what brands to buy at the grocery store. A must read for anyone who not only wants to lose weight, but wants to become a healthier person....

Eat This Not That! is a terrific little book that is a restaurant guide for saving hundred of calories per meal. Author David Zinczenko shows how to swap food choices to save calories and lose weight without feeling deprived. Unlike most diet books, Eat This, Not That! doesn't have a meal plan to follow, nor does it ask you to cut out certain food groups. The goal of this book is to get dieters to make better food choices to save calories, making weight loss a reality.

Eat This Not That! includes helpful information on:

Lower calorie fast food choices

A holiday survival guide

Best and worst foods

Advice on what to buy at the grocery store

Advice for foods kids should eat

Tips on when to eat

The Book's Design
One of the reason's I like this book so much is how it is laid out. It is easy to read, fun and colorful. Every page is filled with pictures of food so you get a clear visual on the foods you are swapping. The 'Eat This' foods have a big green arrow, while the red arrows indicate the' Not That'......
