I purchased the dryer balls after some reviews online to see if they were worthwhile. I decided that to be more effective, I probably needed two packages, as that is what most reviewers suggested. I purchased the packages (4 balls total) and took them home with high hopes, but wary none the less. I am happy to say that I have been using my dryer balls for almost 1 year, and have not purchased dryer sheets or fabric softener in that time. I don't notice ANY difference in the softness of my towels or other clothes that would indicate that I didn't use any softener. I love the fact that they are a green product and I can save money by not buying the softeners that I would normally use. The one thing that I don't enjoy is the static buildup that comes from silkier fabrics and my microfiber cloths. Other than that, I love them!
...

LoveisJoy says "Throw a Couple of Balls in the Dryer for Fluffier Laundry" about Dryer Max Dryer Balls

My husband was complaining that our towels don't seem to get soft enough, even if he throws in an extra fabric softener dryer sheet. Rather than using more chemical softeners to achieve fluffier laundry, I asked him to bring home a package of Dryer Max Dryer Balls from the corner drugstore. I had seen the commercial and catalog ads for some time, and it seemed the perfect excuse to give them a try.
The dryer balls cost about $10, and come two to a package. The rubbery balls have little fingers that massage your laundry while it tumble dries. The package claims that laundry will be softer and static-free, and will dry more quickly - all without chemicals. After using the Dryer Max Dryer Balls for several loads, these were my results:

Shirts and jeans were somewhat softer

Sheets and towels took up more shelf space because they were fluffier

No discernable static cling

No damage to laundry

The drying process wasn't any faster, but it was noisier; and

One of the balls went missing (I later...

...

AWESOMEMOM88 says "It sounded like a super idea at the time" about Dryer Max Dryer Balls

I bought these things to eliminate the need for dryer sheets ( which have been reported to cause build up on lint screens and potentially result in fire hazards) or liquid softener ( which builds up in fabrics overtime, can make some fabrics discolor or seem sticky to the touch) and generally to save money. The idea isn't so different than when our mother's used to throw a clean tennis shoe in the dryer to fluff up towels and blankets when we were little kids....so I forked over my $9.99 and took them home to start using immediately. Yes the clothing was nice and fluffy and yes, I wasn't spending money for additional softening products....but the silly things fell apart after about 15 loads. Looked my dogs had chewed them up-first they split in half after about 9-10 loads, and by 15, I was picking bits of rubber off of everything in my dryer and wondering if the rubber fragments weren't a fire hazard as well. Also wondered if the pieces would melt onto the clothing and ruin it. ......

This product did not live up to my expectations. They did not cut drying time, and my clothes were full of static if I did not use a dryer sheet along with them. They were also very loud. I do not use them anymore. They were a waste of money....

These things worked ok for say about two months. After that I didn't see any difference in laundry, was still using dryer sheets and that annoyed sound of them bouncing around the dryer was starting to get to me and my family. Then one of the dryer balls burst apart.! they suck in my opinion. very displeased.
...

I must have left a tissue or two in the wash. We all know what a mess it makes. I needed something to get the particles of tissue off of my clothes so when I ran across these dryer balls I had to get them. I was amazed that they worked so well! I now leave them in the dryer to handle the next load. It cuts drying time and reduces wrinkles too. I would recommend them to everyone!...

For Christmas last year, I received a set of Dryer Max Dryer Balls as a gift. When I first saw them, I just kind of stared at them blankly. I had NO idea what they were. It was actually quite funny because just the look on my face was all that was needed to create a roar of laughter among my family members. Come to find out, these dryer balls are no joke. They work great!

The Facts

Softens fabrics naturally

Cuts drying time

Hypoallergenic

Reusable

Set of 2

2 Year Performance Guarantee

My Experience

After the laughter subsided, it was explained to me exactly what this product was for. I read the package and realized that if these dryer balls really worked like everyone said, then I would save a ton of money. I would no longer have to purchase dryer sheets or fabric softener. I have many allergies and the fewer chemicals I have to add to my laundry the better. All I have to do is toss these two dryer balls into my dryer with my wet clothes and start the dryer. ...
...
