Dreft laundry detergent is so wonderful for the washing of babies and children clothes. It is also good to use for delecates. This is what I use to wash my son's clothes, blankets, toys, ect. All of his items keep that soft baby small and know that using Dreft there is no residue or allergans on my son's clothes to bother his skin. Children's skin is so tender and easily irritated but this detergent elliminates that fear as a mother. Evey time I was my son't clothes I feel I'm doing something extra special for him thinking ahead about how fragile and special he is. Also I find that Dreft is no more expensive than other detergents and it goes such a long way. I feel I am always washingthings for my son and it still seems that I never have to buy his detergent. It is nice to feel that you are getting you money's worth and protecting your child's skin at the same time. I will use this detergent for all my children.
...

I absolutely will only use Dreft when washing my children's clothes and mine's as well! Dreft is on the expensive side for detergent, but it's worth it, especially when it comes to your little ones. Dreft is known for their detergent and laundry products for babies and children. They are my favorite and many other's as well. I love the scent as well. We buy the huge squeeze top container from Sam's club and it lasts us a couple months at the least! You can find and get coupons every once in awhile for Dreft products as well, which i enjoy finding and using being money conscious!
...

When I had my daughter two years ago everyone told me I had to use Dreft laundry soap on her clothing to keep them clean and to protect her skin from irritation, however; after using the product a couple times on her clothing I could not figure out why she had bumps all over body, it looked like a raised heat rash.

The doctor recommended changing soaps to see if that made a difference, and sure eneough the bumps went away, I tried the soap again a few months later and the bumps returned.

Dreft laundry soap is definately not for everyone and can cause irritation to certain people.

dndd says "Dreft laundry detergent cleans thoroughly and gently" about Dreft Laundry Detergent

Dreft laundry detergent is such a gentle cleanser. I used to use it when my daughter was a baby and all of her little clothes would come out so soft, clean and fresh smelling. I rediscovered it recently and decided there was no reason I couldn't enjoy the same results. When she was young I used the powder detergent (I'm not sure liquid was available then) but use the liquid now because I think it rinses better.

My one criticism of Dreft is that it is so expensive. I've not closely analyzed the ingredients so I'm not sure that there's a clear or good justification for its priciness. It was a real stretch to afford it when my daughter was little. I can afford it better now, but I still think it's too spendy, and I'm not sure that the end results actually justify the expense. The jury's still out on that one. For now, though, I'm going to keep using it until I can think of a compelling reason not to.
...

I love Dreft. i have been using since my son was born and absolutly love the smell. I found it takes out stains perfect and made the clothing look and feel great! The only problem is I have a High Efficiency washing machine and this formula is not made in HE format. I contacted the company to see if there was one available or if they planned on introducing one soon and they told me they were not, a huge disappointment. They did recommend I use Tide Free in place of it, it is available in HE and is safe for use on all the baby's washables. I have since switched but I really miss that great baby smell that I got from Dreft. Tide Free does pretty good at cleaning his clothing and linens and towels but there is no scent which I guess in the long run is best for his skin but Dreft had a safe scent. I told the company they need to have an HE version because after i spoke with Maytag as to why I must use an HE version they explained it makes to many suds and that makes the pump on the machine...
...

jennypenny2005 says "Smells great, but does not always do the job!" about Dreft Laundry Detergent

I have used this product before with my two children, and Dreft Laundry Detergent deffinately is one of the most popular detergents for infants. I will say, it smells fantastic! I love the smell. I do not like how it does not always get the stains out, though. Babies do get messy, they poop all over everything and spit up, etc. , but the stain does not come out about half the time. The detergent is EXTREMELY mild, which is good for your baby, though, and that for me outweighed any staining issues that I had with this product. Also, it is EXTREMELY expensive, and a lot of the other "off brand" detergents have worked just as well for me, and even some worked better. I would suggest soaking any stained clothing individually before you wash your babies clothing with some OXY Clean.

Also, if you are like most parents, you look forward to stocking up on items while they're on sale. I have never seen this item on sale, unfortunately, and I have only seen 2 or 3 coupons since I had either of...
...

Dreft is the only detergent that I used for my kids until they turned 2. I wanted to use something that I knew would not be harsh on their skin and cause any irritants. Dreft leaves the clothes smelling wonderfun and extremely soft. I tried other baby detergents and I prefered the fragrance that Dreft offered....

I used to think Dreft was only for washing baby clothes, but I now wash our whole family's clothing with Dreft.

If you have sensitive skin...

After a few bouts of major rashes with regular laundry detergents, even those that claim to be hypoallergenic, "free," and the like, I have resorted to using Dreft exclusively for washing our clothes. It is the only laundry detergent that I have found that does not flare up eczema around my house.

How does it clean?

This detergent works well for our normal laundry needs

I usually wash in cold water unless I am washing bedding. I use hot water to kill dust mites in sheets and other bedding.

I tend to use Shout if I have challenging stains rather than pre-treating with Dreft

According to the website, the powder (which is what I normally use) is better for cleaning mud or clay. The liquid is better for cleaning oil and grease and pre-treating stains

Safety and Static Issues

Since I do have children not only with sensitive skin but also needing flame-retardant...

...

I have very sensitive skin. There are lots of detergents, soaps, perfumes and so on that I just can't use. Fortunately only one of my three children have the same problem. I used Dreft with all three and I loved it. It smells wonderful, left their clothes feeling so soft (I love to use it on my towels too) and they make a Dreft stain remover too that does miracles. It even got blood out of my husbands shirt after an accident involving a certain four year old and baseball...(It was hilarious but don't tell my hubby I think so! lol) I have used the detergent in combination with the stain remover and have been able to resell most of my children's clothes. It is a little expensive but the money it saved me by being able to pass things down or sell more than makes up for it in the long run....

Dreft Laundry detergent was an automatic for me. When our daughter was born we had a lot of problems with eczema and I tried our normal detergent and she would break out from it. Dreft would always be gentle and not irritate her skin. Wonderful product - I miss the smell when I get to cuddle with her....

Dreft laundry soap was the first soap I bought to do my babies laundry. I just "knew" it would work better than anything else and since sensitive skin runs in the family I was really worried about hurting him. I used it and it did work great. His clothes smelled nice and he never got a rash or anything. The next time I needed soap I was at a store that didn't have the big jug and I didn't want to pay about as much for a small one, so I tried the store brand. It worked exactly the same! The scent was the same, it cleaned and no rash for my baby! I learned my lesson that you don't always have to pay premium prices to get a quality product. I will buy Dreft if it's on sale or I have a coupon or something, but it's not my go to brand that I HAVE to have. I would say if you are on a budget or like to cut costs any brand of baby soap will work because I have now used several store brands and they are all the same.
...

I love this product for the reliability, smell, and overall ability to wash the clothes. I will load the machine with our baby's clothes and fill in with the rest of our laundry (9 and 5 year old boys, and a husband who does a lot of household chores). Granted we have a fabulous high end machine now, but previously (with son #1) we did not, and this product worked to get out all the baby goo. Plus, for me, having two pediatrician's suggest using this I felt more confident. Now on baby three I not only use Dreft but also the Dreft (Oxy) stain spray. The combo really does work to get out the tougher (blow-out diapers) stains. Now available at Costco (or was anyway)....
