I am a Big Dr. Suess fan and so when the kids wanted to watch Horton hears a Who, I was all for it. Cartoon and anime shows and movies to me are great, even as an adult. The movie was good for the kids, cute. It wasn't one of their favorites though. It was colorful and bright, and had some silly behavior in it. But for the younger kids, it almost wasn't enough sillyness. It bearly kept their intersest like some other movies I won't mention in this reveiw. My older child, 12yrs old, watched it and didn't like how kangaroo mom was mean to her child and commented on it. The characters were cute, and likeable, and it was a good clean movie. I give it a three, just because it was good and cute. I still am a big Dr. Suess fan,and problably always will be. Besides us readers know books always seem better than the movies. ;)
...

This movie was a little dissapointing. I expected a lot from Steve Carrell and Jim Carey, and although their energy was great, the movie wasn't really written well as a take off from the book. However, the characters, especially the elephant were very endearing and it does make you root for them to win. I just suggest that you rent it, and not buy it as my four year old was not really entertained and doesn't wish to see it again. SO if you are looking for a rental, it's a good four bucks. Not sure if it's worh it.
...

I am VERY careful about what I allow my children to watch. They don't see a lot of television, and what they do is PBS. Most movies have too much violence or name calling or other bad themes. This movie was okay. It did scare my daughter a little (she is 4 yrs old) and didn't keep her attention as well as Wall-E did. She also did not like the Kangaroo who treated her child very poorly and was mean to other characters. I also did not like that they made a crack on homeschoolers-- "Pouch-schooling"

I think this movie would be best for children a little older, maybe 6 and up. They need to be able to follow a lot of dialogue. I would also be aware of some scary scenes and poor treatment of kind characters, especially for children that are more sensitive.

Bright animation and lovable main characters.
...

I took my 3 year old to watch Horton Hears A Who. He thought parts of it was funny, he did get scared at the vulture, and there were jokes that little kids can't understand. It did have some adult jokes in it, but it was still okay. This movie had lots of action and it was very bright and colorful. It did have two different stories going at one time....

Horton Hears a Who is great for people of all ages, Dr Seuss would be proud. This movie is perfectly quirky as were Dr. Seuss' books. The way the characters talk, their weird inventions and things, absolutely brilliant. Stands up well to Disney movies ...

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, but I was highly disappointed when the movie shined a negative light on homeschoolers. Homeschoolers keep their children home because they want their children to have MORE opportunities to learn about the world around them, not less. The original movie was touching, but this remake was done in poor taste!...

I am a 26 year old teacher, so I went to see this movie because I love great kids books. I thought this movie stayed pretty true to the original book, considering it is an hour and a half movie adapted from a book that reads in 15 minutes. Their is minimal "potty humor" and adult content and the original message is remains in tact. I am single, so I did not take children with me, but the children in the audience seemed pretty captivated. I went with some friends, who also do not have kids. They did not seem to appreciate the movie quite as much as me. I think they were hoping that there would be more humor aimed at adults. However, they did feel that it kept them entertained and that it would be great to see with children....

Being that the move had Jim Carrey in it, I agreed to go along with my Mother and my children to see this movie. I was afraid the movie would be horrifically nasty like Jim Carry made the "Grinch" appear and many of the other movies he starred in. GRATEFULLY the movie was without any sexual or bodily function content, but it also nearly put me to sleep. I have never fallen asleep in a movie theater before, but this movie almost did it! My mother said the same.

...

I took my 5 year old son to see this movie. He has only been to 3 or 4 movies so I wasn't to sure. He was excited about the commericals so I was all for it. Well he lost interest about half way though. I myself kept looking at my watch. I just could not get into the movie. I usually like Dr. Suess movies. I read the book at a book store and the book seemed better then the movie. Guess that always happens. I hope others enjoy the movie. Good luck....

Horton hears A Who, is exactly that. It is a creative adventure of an elephant that tries to save a tiny planet that lives on a flower. During his adventure, he has to keep the planet safe from the evil, and unbelieving animals that live in the forrest, who try to take the flower away from Horton.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mayor, the Who that Horton talks to, tries to get the Whos' in Whoville to believe that their planet is in danger, and realizes that his only son is a genius, who saves their planet.
...
