I have a miniature schnauzer, his name is Oreo. He is the cutest little guy I have ever seen, he is very smart but also very stubborn at times. I think that this is a good family dog because even though they are small they are full of energy! My miniature schnauzer does not eat a lot. He is a great companion, very loyal, and he loves to play. Although he is smaller than a regular schnauzer he isn't too small that you have to watch out from having to step on him or anything like that. He is very energetic and there is no sweeter feeling than coming home from work and finding your schnauzer that is waiting for you, so you can both go to bed. I think it is what I like the most from getting off of work! haha. Oreo is different in color, he is a chocolate brown with a white strip on his tummy. He is too cute! This is the first family pet we have had besides a few fish, a hamster, and a turtle. There is nothing than the companionship of a dog. Oreo thinks he's one of the big dogs and acts just...
...

I love our dog Oscar, but he barks like crazy! (other friends who have bought this dog say there's doesn't bark as much as mine does).

We love him to death! However, be aware that they cost quite a bit for maintenance. Haircuts, vet appointments, and the fact that they are scroungers.

We wouldn't trade ours, but read up on the facts before you buy one!

A great family pet!
...

I had a Miniature Schnauzer for many years. She was an amazing pet. She hardly ever barked and I never once heard her growl or snap in anger. She was playful and loving. She was also very flexible about being taken in the car or to new places. She was great with children of any age. I would get another one! Also, I am allergic to dogs and never had one problem with her. She had to be cut as she didn't shed.
...

I am here to talk about my Mini Schnauzer Tucker. He is now 7 years old. He is salt and pepper colored and slightly overweight if I must say. They say the average weight of an adult Miniature Schnauzer is approx. fifteen pounds. Tucker however weighs twenty-seven pounds. We are working on that though because that is to much! Tucker loves to be petted but I will say he is not kid friendly. I have to watch him closely around my little cousins because he doesn't like the running around and other commotion. He has snapped at small kids before. I'm not sure if this is a normal thing or just his temperment. He is very head strong or stubborn if you will. If he has to go to the bathroom..he will decide where! Even if that means crossing the road. I can be screaming at him, worried he is going to get hit..and he ignores that he hears anything! He also has skin problems. He has to get a shot every summer due to skin allergies. He itches alot and can itch bald spots on himself. I am pretty sure that...
...

jld says "Miniature schnauzers...really this woman's best friend! " about Dog Breed Miniature Schnauzer

I have had miniature schnauzers my entire life and these dogs really are all I will ever own. In have witnessed three batches of puppies be born and watched many of those puppies grow up. I have a very smart female of which I refer to as a "lover girl". She is very much like a best friend, a companion. This breed of dog is very good for families. I like the fact that they do not shed and are a good watch dog even though they are not the "big dog". Those big brown eyes with those long eyelashses...what's not to love! I found this breed easy to house train; catch on quickly. The one thing that there is up-keep on is there grooming. I have my dog cut at least 4-6 times a year and that can get costly. The plus side is they lok very sharp if groomed on a regular basis. Truly all around a great pet....

Miniature Schnauzers make wonderful indoor pets. They are very playful and WONDERFUL with children. They do have a annoying high pitched bark. Ours easily house trained with only a few accidents. They need plenty of room to run and burn off some energy.
...

My house got broken into. I couldn't sleep for weeks. I decided to get a dog for my protection. I decided to visit the Jacksonville Humane Society. I looked at several dogs and came upon a miniature schnauzer. I wasn't sure he would be a good protector. However, he looked at me with those big brown eyes and chose me! We have been together ever since at the best of buds. He is very protective, loyal, funny, sweet, and just wonderful. I was told that he would be a one person pet but he loves all in our household. He even tolerates the cats unless they try to get into our laps. He will protect them, too. His name is Buddy and he is truly my little buddy! I've had many dogs in my lifetime but I have to say, he is the best dog I've ever owned.
...

I have had Miniature Schnauzers my entire life. I have not found a better breed to have. I am allergic to any animal that sheds or has dander and the miniature Schnauzer is one of the few that I can have. They are very smart and easy to train. They are loyal and VERY patient with children. They are truly a perfect match for any family. Since they are small, they can sit on your lap or share your bed and not take up much room. There is no other breed of dog I would want to own!!!!!!!!...

He was the best behaved dog on the planet. easily trainable, but they do have a mind of their own. they can be stubborn. they require regular grooming. a trip to the groomer approx every 4-8wks, and a good brushing every day. they are active and need regular exercise. and they are also very loving dogs....

Besides her health problems from being so purebred, she is suppose to be a show dog, her dad was a Westminister champion, but I didn't have the heart to get her ears clipped. Harley is very smart, loyal and has been a great family pet. My kids even refer to her as their little sister....
