A little over two months ago our family rescued a one year old Red-nose Pit Bull named "ACE". He had been left alone alot, attached to a tree by a 5 foot lead chain, received very little attention and was malnourished. The pics we saw of him broke our heart, we had to help him and show him the love that he so deserved. From the moment Ace laid eyes on us it was love at first site for all of us....He came right to us, then proceeded to go to the car. He took a 4 1/2 hour ride home with us and was a total joy the entire way. He has the sweetest personality of any dog that I have ever owned: Tail wags always, kisses galore and thinks he is a lap dog (all 58 lbs of him!) He doesn't know a stranger but always alerts us if someone is outside our home. Most pitbulls don't like to left alone very long and they strive to make their owners happy. They thrive on praise and LOTS of LOVE. Pits have a bad rap because of BAD PEOPLE!! They are one of the most intelligent, loving...
...

We have owned three American Pitbulls in the past few months and have met alot of people who do too. None of these dogs have ever been aggressive to a human or another animal. I had to do alot of reading and social studying before I considered this breed to be a great loving, smart, affectionate, faithful and obediant pet. We have had our Blue/red nose mix (still called 100% American Pit) for 4 months and has been the best breed of puppy I have ever had! We payed on the smaller side for him including travel expenses and we would not even think to give him back or trade him off to anyone. I would suggest for anyone to think about having these types of dogs in their family. They are so very loyal and they truely are the biggest of babies and just want your loving and undying devotion to not treat them as they are "Killing Machines". The whole main reason these dogs have had a bad rap is because careless owners have turned them mean just as any other dog has the tendacy to do if poorly mistreated....

...

the bashed breed pitbulls....i have owned and breed pitbulls and never one time had any issues with them attacking anyone or each other....i had a male and female that were my house dogs and were around my children all the time...when i had my youngest my male thought he was his and would lay at his swing or on a blanket with him and was very loving and caring with him....i also suffer from a seizure disorder and they would have a sense about when i was going to have one because they would follow me step for step everywhere i went and when i would have it my male dog would lay across me as if he was protecting me .... i do understand that some people do train them to be aggressive and to fight which i find very cruel and inhumane but if these dogs are trained right from puppies they can be the most loving, carring, affectcinate dogs you can have and yes as any dog they will be protective of there owners and where they live but not out right killers unless they are taught that by the owners...
...

I have a 3 year old male pitbull and i love him dearly! my fiance and i have known him since the day he was born! he is the best dog ive ever had! i know the breed has a bad reputation but its all in how the dog is raised. my pitbull would never even think of attacking someone unless he felt my fiance or i were in danger. everyone hears that hes a pitbull and the scared looks come across their faces. Will he bite? they ask no not at all! if you give him a treat hes gonna become your new best friend! the only problem with him is he HATES to be alone! he needs constant attention or another animal to play with! if he gets bored or is by himself he'll chew whatevers closest to him whether is a toy meant for him or a pair of shoes that got left on the floor. this breed needs to be able to run and get lots of exercise and they are pretty hyper. but if its brought up correctly there is no reason for the dog to attack. i think that people who are considering getting a pitbull need to weigh out...
...

ResponsibleOwner says "too strong, too aggressive, too much terrier to handle " about Dog Breed American Pitt Bull Terrier

The argument that pitt bulls are no more vicious than retrievers and that Chihuahuas can also be guard dogs is misleading at best. Comparing a pitt bull to a Chihuahua is like comparing a machine gun to a squirt gun. There may be aggressive retrievers, Chihuahuas or chipmunks for that matter, but that has nothing to do with the problem with pittbulls.

As the aptly named 'hug-a-bully' website points out, pitt bulls' "strong bodies and minds often get the best of them, and (they) can be known to be impervious to pain." This extreme tolerance for pain, their highly aggressive prey drive, and their extremely high muscle density and jaw strength is the problem. Like many dogs, pitt bulls can distrust and attack any animals or humans not viewed as part of their pack. Dog experts will tell you that when they attack a pitt bull generally won't let go, and the more you fight them off, the more they go after you. Experts also know that pitt bulls were bred to fight and that all the love...
...

I am the proud parent of two pitbulls and they are anything but killers. My oldest is 2 and we just brought his son home 5 weeks ago. Ive worked as a Vet. Tech. and in all my years Ive yet to be biten by a pitbulll. These dogs are what there owners make them and thanks to people like Michael Vick these dogs are given a bad rap. In England these dogs are used to care for children they are actually called nanny dogs, In World War II these dogs were sent onto the battle fields to drag back injured solders. I dont see any of thse soldiers who were saved by pitbulls saying how mean they were. People believe myths and rumors about the breed when the truth is they are so owner loyal and eager to please that they do whatevers asked of them. If they are taught that being mean and aggressive is what makes their owner happy thats what they will do. They dont have lock jaws and their is no bite test. Common myths! If you want a loyal dog get a pit!
...

Pittbulls' temperaments are how you raise them. Mine was raised by a greyhound and a pug. Interesting combination, but it works in our home. The pug beats up the pittbull, and he just licks her head. Was not a fan of the breed prior to my husband getting him (2 months before he met me), however, he has warmed my heart and changed my mind.
...

i am reviewing the dog breed pit bulls. it is such a myth about all the negative feedback on pit bulls. i owned one for 13 years, much longer than they live. he was the nicest dog you could ever imagine, he loved everyone and was so loyal. i've had dogs before him but i was closer to him because of his disposition. sadly he was put to sleep the day after christmas, he had arthritis and was in extreme pain, but he still tried his hardest to love. there were 2 owners of pitbulls you all would know, theodore roosevelt had pit bulls with him all the time. also on the little rascals, petey was a pit bull, and that was a childrens show. people need to know a pit bull before they make accusations and not listen to the bad comments on the people who bring them up mean. there are many other mean breeds from how they are raised.
...

I have 2 pitties and a pit/bullmastiff mix. When I was little, I believed the awful things about this breed, because I didn't know any better. Then, I got a job in rescue, and had to deal with this breed on daily basis. So many were abused and mistreated, yet were still so loving and loyal. I realized very quickly that this breed is so unfairly stereotyped, it's appalling. I have never dealt with a smarter, more loyal, affectionate dog in my life. I have tried to become a 1-woman army to educate the masses. I travel with my own pit constantly, and everyone that encounters her raves about how cute and good she is, and when they ask me what her breed is, and I say "pit bull", usually I get a response like "but, she's so nice". That's because they are! This breed wants to do nothing but please their owner. My babies all think they are cats and will lick you to death and lay all over you. All it takes is a good owner. Punish the deed and not the breed. I will never...
...

I work in an animal hospital and I think Pit Bulls are one of the sweetest breeds. I fell as though I am always defending the breed. I recommend them to families. There are a ton of pits in shelters. Give one a home! Almost every Pit Bull I come in contact with has nothing but kisses and tail wags for me. I love them....

I used to be one of those ignorant people that thought that all pittbulls were bad. I did alot of reading and saw alot of awful videos of pittbulls being abused, that really changed the way I felt about pittbulls. If you raise them to be mean then there will be a problem but if you raise them in a loving home and give them the training that they need, then they will be the perfect dog(family member). We rescued a pittbull when she was 2wks old, she's now 3 months old and I plan on giving her all the love/care that she needs. Please don't hate the pittsbulls hate the people that raise them wrong....

I'll get right to the point about why I feel this breed gets a bad rap most over any other known breed, media hype. I march yearly along with most members from Roverlution.org & concerned owners of all breeds in Brea, CA. I march proudly on behalf of my dog Sugar, and everyone else's dog labled, "aggressive breed". I only adopt Pit Bulls from kill shelters because they deserve a second chance at life. I have owned & trained this breed for almost 17yrs now. Never once have I personally been bitten or anyone I know. I will not buy a Pit Bull or promote sells from Back yard breeders. More information needs to be given out to the public on how this breed is really treated all together. Let them see first hand how many are beaten, starved, shot, fought and put down. People need to be made aware of the truth behind an American Pit Bull Terrior's sad existance and death. Please do your homework first by getting infomation on any dog breed you want to own & make sure that......
