From the beginning I have never received the channels I am paying for. In the past 10 months technicians have been out several times to correct the problems we are having as the signal is not strong enough. They have said there is nothing more that they can do. Techs have stated on two separate occasions that they should have never installed the equipment due to trees on the property blocking the signal.<br/><br/>I am still ony getting about 1/4 of the channels I am paying for. I called today to cancel the service and spoke to supervisor Natalie (operator ID DE8) who stated I will owe $140 cancellation fee as I agreed to a 24 month contract. I explained I agreed to 12 months not 24 months and I also never signed a contract. She said who ever was there at the time of the install signed it. Mon, 30 Nov 2009 17:33:18 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/Dish-Network-review-04990 texasbornn64 5 http://www.viewpoints.com/Dish-Network-review-54f30 <p>I decided to get Dish Network because it was a way to get HD channels without paying an arm and a leg.  When I signed up, I was told my total monthly bill would be $29.99.  I was excited because I thought this was a great price.  But, when I got my first bill, it was for $34.99 plus tax.  I called and talked to a representative who basically told me that my old representative was wrong but there was nothing I could do about it.  They wouldn't even waive the fee for me to break my contract, which in my opinion they already broke by not giving me the price they promised.  Whatever, I decided I still wanted the service for the extra $5/month, but that still made me pretty mad.</p> <p>But then I got a lovely letter in the mail (only 3 days after I got my very first bill) informing me that my bill would increase to $39.99 the following month because of Dish Network's increased operating costs.  I called customer service again, but still got no help.  So, basically I'm now stuck in a two-year...</p>... I was talking to one of the guys and he was not even ready to   listen to what I had to say.  The story goes like this:</p> <p>  When I was taking the connection, Dish had promised that the Cinemax will be free for an year  at a penny and also offerred HBO/Starz for 3 months. I called them after 3 months to disconnect  HBO/Starz, they took off the Cinemax along with that. <br/>   <br/>  I called after a month to check on the same and they said that the promotion was over.  I mentioned that I was promised Cinemax for an year however the Supervisor was not even   ready to listen to me. I enjoy Dishnetwork, but I am missing my Directv. The DVR with dishnetwork only lets you record one program and you cannot watch another channel while that program is recording, unless the 2nd dvr in the other room is set to the channel you want to record. With Directv I could record a channel while watching another channel at the same time. I really wish Dish Network had this feature. What I do like about it though, is my recorded programs can be viewed on either Television that has the DVR hooked up. And only one box is required for the entire home. I have 4 televisions with Sattelite tv and only one receiver. Not so with Directv. So they both have their pros and cons, but my preference is with Directv. I only switched because I am saving about $60 a month by combining my home phone, internet and sattelite services. If it weren't for that I would still be with Directv. Blame it on the...... Their customer service is the worse. Switched to HD service. Had Audio problems...every time you change channels..you have to adjust audio...some channels audio and vidio are out of sync. Sat, 24 Oct 2009 12:29:19 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/Dish-Network-review-7d7f0 kidbick 1 http://www.viewpoints.com/Dish-Network-review-35432 <p>We recently switched from DirectTV to Dish Network because of Pricing.  Overall The two are similar in packages, but Dish Network pricing is more in line with the common man.  The picture is clear and of a decent quality.  We do not have HD.  The variety of channels is decent, but I have little use for Sirrius Radio and find those channels to be more of a nusiance.  Our plan gave us Cinemax for 1 Cent for a year, but thus far the movies on it are pretty poorly rated by viewers.  So skip getting Cinemax if you have to pay more.</p> <p>Some of the cons to Dish Network is the guide.  It is pretty bland to look at and the remote is overly complicated.  The book is also a bit of a nightmare in trying to find out how to resolve an issue.  For example  the receiver changed to single mode and it took 15 minutes to find that the fix was to push a button on the receiver to change back to dual mode.   Once things are set up, it becomes second nature.  </p> <p>Overall I think Dish Network will be a...</p>... The customer service is much better than Comcast Cable which is why I made the switch. I have not been on hold for a very long time waiting for someone. Everyone I spoke with has been very nice and helpful. Other good things include the DVR service is much better than Comcast cable. I have yet to be told that I need to delete things I have DVR'd and I have recordings set up for all new episodes of several shows. It seems with cable I would get a notice that I cannot record something new until I delete something. I would say that after the initial reduced offer ended it is about the same price as cable. The worst thing is that the reception is determined by the weather. If there is a bad storm it can go out. The good part is that it has not been for very long. It can range from 5 minutes to maybe 20 minutes. Overall I am happy with Dish Network.</p>... Thu, 03 Sep 2009 20:04:30 GMT http://www.viewpoints.com/Dish-Network-review-af3a MAC446 3 http://www.viewpoints.com/Dish-Network-review-7266 <p>I switched to Dish Network when I moved to the other side of town.  It was a cheaper deal than cable, plus it seemed to offer many more channel options.  I am satisfied overall, but not to the point that I would consider myself an advocate.  I subscribe to the 250 channel option.  I had to get this package to include some channels that I watch regularly.  A large portion of the channels are shopping, religion or Hispanic.  There are 2 channels that I would be interested in receiving, but would have to upgrade to the next level.  Dish Network does not offer any channels that I didn't get with cable.  The inclusion of Sirius XM is a nice touch, if I want to have music in the house.  There are other music options, but I don't listen to them much.  Dish is easy to use, and the guys who installed it were very professional.  The picture clarity is great, and the included DVR is very good.  The signal does seem to go out quite often, if only for a minute or two.  I like that one receiver...</p>... On the third time we couldn't get signal I called and canceled the service losing faith in their ability to correct the issue. I canceled the service 05/19/09 with them owing me $48.98<br/><br/>I started getting phone calls on my cell phone from Dish asking for a payment of $61.02 charging me an early disconnection fee of $110.00<br/><br/>08/19/09 I spoke with a Dish supervisor and was told there are only 3 cases where the early termination fee is waived.<br/><br/>1 Death<br/>2 Active service <br/>3 Being put in a nursing home</p>&#13; <p>How many times should we take off work to let them try and fix it? 4,6,10??? For the most part I'm very happy with Dishnetwork. I get a lot of channels, DVR, and HD for not a bad price. However, I recently looked at charter again and foudn that I can get almost the same deal plus internet for the same price. When I called dish they made it seem like they had the best prices there were to offer. I jumped at the chance! I had to sign up for a 2 year contract. No big deal. Now that ive about a year and a half into my contract Im noticing while I have a lot of channels, half of them I never watch and there are many channels you get with Charter that you don't get with dish. I get charged everytime I want to change something and they over charge when you want to add something. While it looks and sounds good in the begining, make sure you really look at what you watch and see if its really worth it! Also, when they give credits for things they give you the credit and then charge you the next month which gets...</p>... So basically we are paying top dollar for the worst TV reception I've had in my life.</p>... We had dish netowrk wuth a DVR for 4 years. About one and half years ago our dish and DVR locked up for about 2 hours as dish network was sending a software update and when it finally responded again, the DVR was blank; all the programs that we had recorded wre deleted. When we called dish network they said that it was an equipment problem and they they would send a new DVR. They told us that their update was not the cause of our DVR getting wiped. We accepted that explanation at the time. Just a few weeks ago it happened again as they were sending a software update. They again said it was the equipment; we didn't believe them and told them that we didn't believe them. They told us that we shouldn't be so concerned about the contents of our DVR and should VCR tape record anything we want to keep for more than 24 hours.
