If you aren't a heavy gas user, the Discover - Open Road Gas Card can save you an extra 5-10 cents a gallon on gas. You get a 5% rebate on gas and card repair purchases, but this only applies to the first $100 spent each month, so its not as great if you spend a lot each month.

The nice thing about Discover Card rebates is that you can get them as cash as well as getting gift cards, etc. For some things like movie rentals, you can get up to double the value of your rebate.

I like having a separate gas card because when you use it at the pump, the station can put a hold of $100 or more on your account and this can cause problems if you use a debit card....

This is a truly lousy card. Your rebates end after $100.00 per month or a total of $1200 per year. With gas prices as they are, you can only get rebates for about 1and a half tanks of gas per month. This is OK if you only go to the store and back, but worthless if you do much driving at all....

We got this card a few years ago and have never regretted it. We use this for our gas purchases as well as our car maintenance and repair costs. These expenses are as inevitable as taxes and death, and we might as well get something for them! We always use one of our Discover Open Road cards (we each have one) when we stop for gas, and even with trying to minimize our gas usage, we are pileing up the dollars fast. We get 5% back for our purchases, and we usually redeem them for gift cards for our favorite restaurant,Bennigans. If we take $20 in reward points, we can get a $25 gift card! thre are many different gift cards available with this sort of incentive, we just like Bennigans. Chili's is one we sometimes get as our grandson love to go there. We get to go out a lot with this plan, and it takes out some of the sting of high gas prices!

Don't waste any time getting one of these. Because we pay off the whole balance every month as soon as we get our bill, we don't pay any interest on...

The card has a 5% rebate, BUT it is only up to $100 in purchases per month = $5 monthly maximum.
If you realize that from the start, you have to remember to pull out the card just after your statement closes, use it for $100 in gas, then put it away until the next statement. If you do not drive much, you will be fine, otherwise it can be a hassle for just a few bucks....

When Discover (called me) and offered this card they told me I would get 5% rebate on all my gas and car charges like oil, tires etc. I ordered the card then found out I was only getting $5.00 rebate on $700.00 in charges. I called to see what the deal was and the lady said "ohhhhh they have changed it, now you only get 5% on the first 100.00 a month!!! Wow! That is one whole tank of gas now. I cut up my card and sent it back to them. No thanks. I don't appreciated "bait and switch tactics! So much for Discover Gas card......

When I went to cancel my card the representative told be because of so many complaints the $60 limit per year was changed to $60 per month. That was NOT true!! The limit is $5.00 per month. Big deal....
