When we first got the Dicvover card customer service was wonderful. The interest rate was good . They were always willing to help. I missed on payment in 5 years. So I got on an automatic deduction from my checking account. For a year that went well. Then without notice my deduction date changed by four days. So that went on for awhile till i noticed that one month they didnt take the normal amount out. I called them , and they said every year you have to call up and retart it. When I signed up for this the gentlemen said that if I got atomatic deductions I would never have to worry about late fees again. So because I didnt restart by calling them before the year ended I had to have 28% interest for one month till they could straighten it out. Well we decided to pay the whole thing off. I called them to say we had been havin financial difficuilties could they settle for 75% which other credit cards offered us. They said no there is nothing they could do. So...

I tend to use my Discover Card for large purchases where I can take advantage of the cash back program. I like that this card gives you several options to redeem your points--you can take cash, credit towards your account, or my favorite, gift certificates to numerous merchants. The gift certificates are great because $20 worth of rewards can often be traded in for a $25 gift card.

The only negatives about this card are that it is not taken everywhere and that it does not have extra rewards for certain purchases. With my Master Card I get 3% back at gas stations and grocery stores but the Discover is 1% across the board. Still, this is a good card and has a very user friendly website for checking balances and paying on-line.

The Discover Card Cash Back Rewards program is awsome. I utilize it to pay bills, which I get cash back (1 percent), but the quarterly 5 % cash back bonus are great. Currently they have travel, which includes hotels. If you have a family member who travels alot, they can use the card (with authorization) for the hotels, which Discover will credit up to 5 percent on 800 dollars, thats 40 dollars, which is posted to your account. I also use it for groceries, and write a check at the end of the month. Once a month my cash back is put into my account. You can earn extra money on gift cards, spend 20, get a gift card for 25. This was wonderful for the Christmas gift giving, teenagers. The customer service is above and beyond. Of course through using my Discover Card, the trick is pay the full amount off at each billing cycle. Make you money work for you..............

I signed up with the impression that you get 1% cashback on all your purchases and 5% on certain categories during each month. The 5% is true and is a pretty good deal. The 1% is a lie however. You only get 1% if you spend a certain amount each month, which is totally lame. Do not like at all....
