I was incredible impressed with the suction power of this, considering the price. Just purchased a larger vacuum and the Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets will pick up better than the new one. The Dirt Devil picked up a lot of fine dirt (live in the desert) from the carpet that we didn't know was there, plus it picks up cat hair really well, too. I want to buy another one! I just don't like how quickly you have to keep emptying the chamber. Have to empty it after each room, so it doesn't clog.

I bought this little vacuum cleaner at Wal-mart on sale for $48.00. What a deal!!! It is fantastic for cleaning up pet hair from my two little white papillons and a white cat who shed constantly on my dark green carpet. I do have to keep the little sponge filter cleaned. I sometimes do this by rinsing and drying it. Sometimes, I have another little canister vacuum cleaner and I vacuum it clean. I try to do this every time or two that I use it and it works great! The hepa filter (the thing that looks like an accordian folded white paper fan in the black plastic) also needs replaced or cleaned. My husband has taken it out and has blown air through it the opposite way with his air compresser because we haven't ordered any new ones. It has worked amazingly well for over a year. I am finally breaking down and ordering some new hepa filters. Over all a great vacuum that gets up pet hair better than my upright bag vacuum.

The Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets M140000 from Wal-Mart seemed like a good deal - only $79.99, picks up pet hair, no bags, just use a filter...After using it 2 times, the brush roll melted on the ends and the vacuum won't work anymore. I thought - OK, defective roll, so I bought another one online for $20, in the meantime, I got a hand-vac for about $20 to clean things up while I was waiting for the part to arrive (we are up to $109.99 now).

The part arrived, and I replaced the old brush roll with the new one. Well - after only 1 use it stopped working again - this time the brush roll melted on the ends, the belt tore up, and the part leading to the belt melted in the middle. OMG! Who makes these things? I am seriously considering making it a purpose of my life to educate every single consumer on how useless, impractical, and a simple waste of money it is to own one of these pieces of a you know what.

We have quite a large pack of 8 dogs we love them all but we hate the hair. Even though they are all short haired Pointers and Dachshunds it truly is amazing how much hair can get all over everything. I hate that our home has rugs which seems to act as a magnet for the hair. I have spent years looking for the perfect vacuum. One that would be easy to handle, economical, and be a bagless system. You get all that and more with Dirt Devil Purpose for pets M140000 The best things about this vacuum is that the filter is removable and washable and the cup that catches the dirt and hair is quite large. We have a rather large livingroom and there are 3 other rooms that the dogs go into and this vacuum is put to work alot in our home. Because the Dirt Devil Purpose for pets M140000 is as light weight as it is and because the power is so efficient the former chore of vacuuming is no longer really a chore. It only takes a few minutes to de-hair the place ! I highly recommend the Dirt Devil Purpose...

I have 2 dogs, one is longer haired. The hair gets caught in the roller assembly. This causes the roller to melt into the PLASTIC brackets that hold the roller in place. This Happens VERY Quickly, as soon as you smell the rubber burning smell, its too late. This renders the vacuum useless. The roller assembly replacement is NOT covered in the " unconditional One year Guarrantee" When I tried to purchase a new roller assembly, the part was back ordered, probably because EVERY ONE that has one of thses "purpose for Pets Vacuum has burned it up. The manufacturer blames "owner Abuse". Expecting the vacuum to pick up unusual amounts(of dog hair). I do not recomment buying this product. I would say it SUCKS, but that is one thing it is supposed to do and it doesn't!

The Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets was given to my husband and I for Christmas in 2008. We tried it out by sweeping all of the rooms with our old sweeper (not for pets), and then we went back over it with the Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets. We picked up TONS more hair and dirt than before. The little attachment for fabrics works well too and gets the pet hair off of the furniture. We have six cats so we know about pet hair!

I would recommend this vacuum to anyone with pets. Cats or dogs. Especially if you multiple pets who shed lots of fur, often. It would also be good for people without pets because it seems to get all the dirt way down in the carpet too.

The only thing I don't like about the Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets is that we have had to replace the belt on the vacuum about 4 or 5 times. I don't know if that is our fault or a fault of the companies, but it has still had to be replaced numerous times. The good thing is though, that you can get two belts for around $3. I just moved into my new home. I have hardwood floors, three dogs and 1 cat. I bought the Dirt Devil Purpose for pets taking it at it's word it was for pet hair. The first couple of minutes it was great then it didn't suck anymore but the light didn't go on to say it was full. I pulled the canister out and it was not full. I opened it up and hair wraps around a plastic piece inside the canister stopping it for sucking. The piece is easily removed so I removed it and cleaned it. I started to vacuum and it does the same thing. I unwrapped the hair and left the piece out but the vacuum has no suction without it. I put the piece back in and literally 3 times within 5 minutes. I packed it up and went and got the broom. You will spend more time unclogging that piece than vacuuming....

i bought this vacuum thinking that i was getting a great product but i was wrong... it didnt even pick up the cat hair on the bare floor. i really wanted to make this vacuum be something great but it really sucked. the best thing on it is the attachment to vacuum the couch. that worked good. but i am sorry to say that i dont recommend this product....

The dirt devil purpose for pets vaccum was my first non-bag upright and I was excited to pick it up with my wife to clean up our new house. Cat hair had been a huge pain for a long time and I was ready to get a vaccum that I could just pick up, go, and empty instead of going on bag runs.

Well, it worked like a dream for the first month or two and then I noticed the suction dying out. Eventually, the motor started overheating. Now, if I were clueless, I would have left it at that and thought that it was a bad machine, HOWEVER, I like to find the problems with my machines and I figured if there was some sort of blockage, I could fix it.

I opened the dirt cup, cleaned out everything, but the problem still prevailed. Finally, I took a look at the HEPA filter - more accurately, the small piece of foam that sits on top of the hepa filter - it was covered almost an inch thick with dirt. I bought the Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets upright in April of this year. In June, the ends of the roller disintegrated into tiny pieces. I contacted Dirt Devil about getting a new roller. I was told that the roller was not covered under warranty and that I would need to purchase a new one. I was also told that I needed to remove the roller each time I vacuumed and clean it after every use! I had cleaned it once since I purchased it, and let me tell you, it is so difficult to remove to clean! You would think that if Dirt Devil makes a roller that needs to be cleaned after every use, they would at least make it easy for the customer to do the task! But you have to remove the bottom plate with a screwdriver and it is extremely difficult to put back together afterwards!

Given that it was still new, I tried to purchase a new roller directly from Dirt Devil, but it was on backorder until November! The customer service rep gave me listings of two dealers in my area from which...

Just purchased a new Dirt Devil for pets 140000 today at Walmart. My former Dirt Devil Vision vac finally 'bit the dust' after 5 years as the handle broke off and cannot be repaired [although the machine still works]. Having looked up vacuum cleaner reviews on every website imaginable I remained totally confused since there are SO many brands, models and prices around - $60? $300? Bagged? Bagless? Cyclonic? Dual Cyclonic? Upright? Cannister?, etc., etc., etc. I looked on line at EBay, Sears, Circuit City, BestBuy, BJ's, Sam's Club, Walmarts and other 'direct sale' websites. Fact was I needed a new vacuum cleaner ASAP and had no patience to continue researching feeling I was entering the Big Black Hole. I went to BJ's Wholesale Club, Walmarts and Sears to compare brands/models/prices. I loved the Kenmore Progressive vacuums - both upright and cannister but did not enjoy the +/- $300 cost. I came upon the Dirt Devil Purpose at Walmart for $58 - not even a model on display and wondered...

The Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets is an amazing machine. My dog sheds constantly and leaves a trail of hair all over the house. The Dirt Devil picks it up! You can see how much dirt is being picked up in the canister so you know that it's doing it's job. The only downside that I have found is that when the filter gets too dirty, the machine shuts off too protect from overheating. Not really a downside except that you can't continue sweeping until you clean the filter and allow the machine to cool off completely.

I love it!
