codexnt says "easy to use, good suction but has some drawbacks" about Dirt Devil Kone Vacuum

This vacuum has good and bad qualities. Personally I really like it for what I use it for, but there are definitely some drawbacks that are good to know ahead of time.

It has an easy push button on/off but its kind of awkward to hold because of the shape. It has good suction but needs to be emptied quite often. Good for small jobs. I use it mostly to clean up pet hair. It has a nice enough appearance to leave out, and charges itself on its base, but it needs to be lined up right or it won't charge. I have no problem lining it up but other people have had some issues. Also there are the exhaust vents that if you're not careful will blow around what you're trying to pick up. They aren't on the bottom which should be facing the floor anyways, but because of the shape its easy to get it turned around. ...
...

ajclay28 says "Good Little Hand Vac" about Dirt Devil Kone Vacuum

I must admit that I purchased the Dirt Devil Kone for its looks - I like the modern, cone shape that looks so sleek and "clean" - I hated having to "hide" my other hand held vacuum and always have to "dig it out" when needed.

This vacumm is always ready and at my fingertips. It does the job it is supposed to do - that is - to quickly and efficiently pick up little messes/spills - This is not an industrial power vacuum that is going to suck up every little microbe - it is, however, great for its purpose.

I have a big house, a dog, 2 growing kids and a husband - there are always "little messes" that sneak up on you - the need to have one of these handy little picker uppers around is great.

It cleans up doorways in a flash, pet hair, little spills, etc.

It is an excellent value for the money and in my opinion comes from a company you can trust. The Dirt Devil brand has treated us wel in the past, and this product is no different!
...

sovalle says "Dirt Devil Kone is perfect for Kiity Maintenance" about Dirt Devil Kone Vacuum

The Dirt Devil Kone is the best thing that I have found for keeping up with my kitties' litter. I live in a condo with 2 cats, as you can imagine it's a kitty litter nightmare. I hate having to lug around a small plug in Dirt Devil back and forth in between weekly cleaning and vacuuming time. I needed something that I could use a couple of times a day to spot clean, because sometimes cats track kitty litter. The Kone is cool looking and is just plugged in next to the litter and the charging light is like a little bathroom night light. It doesn't have the best suction and the receptacle is small but it is great for spot cleaning which is really what I think it is intended for. I don't think it's for everybody and it definately cannot replace a full blown vacuum cleaner, but for small jobs it's great. Sometimes you tend to wait for a little bit of a bigger job when you have to take out and put away the vacuum this way it is just someting you can do in passing.
...

I got this Kone in deep Purple. It looks fantastic and most visitors ask about it because it looks like a modern piece of art when it sits in the corner awaiting its next use! Function is good and convenient. It stays charged (with a nice pilot light) and then it's easy to use. A bit loud and you have to be pretty close to/on top of bits you want to pick up, but it does the job of a handvac. Especially good for corners and cars....

Although vacuuming is not a fascinating chapter in my personal book, I must confess that I was intrigued with the Dirt Devil Kone Vacuum from the start. Finally, I caved in and bought one in a beautiful shade of gray from Drugstore.com. I still like the Dirt Devil Kone but I have come to realize and accept that it is what it is -- a handy appliance for small clean-up jobs. This is perfect for those occasions when somebody spills the popcorn but that is about the extent of what it will pick up unless you want to stop in the middle of the task and empty the receptacle. It also seems to have a small, focused pick-up area which tends to maximize the effort you have to put into using it but it does get small jobs done without having to get out and plug in the major vacuum cleaner.

Another drawback is that it took me a while to get used to the fact that the cone itself is its own handle -- it just seems strange to pick it up off of its base and use it like a wand. Somehow the handles...
...

I got the Dirt Devil Kone a few months back and it has all ready quit working. I sent an email to the company and the gave me two places that would reapir it. I told them I had not time, interest, or money for gas to go two counties over to a repair shop. SO much for standing behind your warranty, only if I do all the work. I threw it out and will never buy another Dirt Devil. The look good, mine was sleek and red, but do not hold up to use....

Long story short, bought it, used it, I think it's broken, and I didn't do it.

Details as follows:

I'm a messy person with a messy (new) husband, and a long haired cat. The three of us have lived together nearly 4 years, and up until a month ago, had not owned any vaccum. For a wedding present, we received a couple of Bed Bath and Beyond gift cards and decided to get a vaccum.

Until we actually arrived at Bed Bath and Beyond, I figured that we would bring home something that kind of looked like a bagpipe with a plastic handle and smelled very strongly of plastic... until I saw her- the Dirt Devil Kone. She was beautifully shaped- kind of like something a 70's cartoon character would use. If only I had read the fine lines... I actually still haven't, but I did try to clean with it.

After charging the Kone all night, I woke up, and was excited to use this bad boy... until I did. I started under the couch cushions. I had to go over those areas a couple of time, as the Kone does not...
...

With children around the house I was looking for something that could clean up small messes with ease. After having a Dirt Devil before I knew this was a product I needed to get again. When I took it out of the box I was happy to see the design and color, but found it to be larger than I expected. Seeing on TV I thought I would keep it out in the open, but now, no. Everyone at this point knows that this is a hand-held vacuum, so I will not put it on a table, despite it's good visual design. Instead, I have it tucked behind a table. When I went to use it I was disappointed to see how clumsy it is to hold. I cannot get a good grip on it. Equally disappointing is how annoying it is to put back into it's holder. It is not easily apparent how to put it back, so I have to twist it around every time until it fits....

SlinkyFries says "I should have stuck with Dust Buster!" about Dirt Devil Kone Vacuum

When I first saw the commercials for the Dirt Devil Kone, I was incredibly excited. I love cleaning products and I'm particularly fond of hand held vacuum cleaners. I was on my second Dust Buster and both that I'd owned had problems holding a charge after a while. Also, filters were increasingly hard to find. So I tossed my Dust Buster and bought a Kone.

Right out of the box, I disliked it. It looks beautiful sitting on my end table, and I really do love the look of the Kone. But it's very awkward to use without a handle. The suction is pretty good, but the nozzle is so small that it doesn't really pick up anything unless the hole is directly over your crumbs. In the end, though, it does get the job done.

Another aspect of the Kone I have difficulty with is the receptacle. It's small and fills up quickly. The vacuum part is sometimes difficult to take apart to empty and even more difficult to fit back together.

If I could find someone who wanted it, I'd give it away and get another Dust Buster!......

I love the look of this dustbuster but it just doesn't hold up. It is so loud and often things it sucks up come back out. It's also difficult to put it back in it's base properly. There is no indicator for how to align in and I find I am fidgeting with it to get it back in the right way. It's too bad, I was really hoping for something stylish and practical....

We needed a hand-held vacuum, so I immediately ordered a blue Kone. I loved the way it looked (very cool-looking) and couldn't wait to receive it. After using it for the very first time, we fell in hate with it. The shape is very asthetically pleasing, but nearly impossible to grab hold of for those quick pick-up jobs. At the very least, rubber grips should've been added to make it easier to hold. It's also very difficult to get into proper charging position. You have to keep playing with it and hope to eventually get it in the right spot (you know it's there when a small blue light turns on.)

All in all, we hate this product and wish we hadn't spent money on it. By the way, I've written to the company about this several times and have never heard back from them....

Our Black and Decker handheld vac finally decided to give up the ghost after something like fifteen years. It just stopped taking a charge. I was sick of the old beast anyway, so when I saw the Dirt Devil Kone at a local store, I started considering it. I purchased the champagne colored Dirt Devil Kone online for about $38.

About the Dirt Devil Kone
These days it's all about the pretty. Karim Rashid is apparently a famous designer, and he designed the Dirt Devil Kone, the first hand vac I've seen that's pretty enough to leave out all the time. The design is simple and streamlined enough to make Martha Stewart happy.

Using the Dirt Devil Kone
Getting started with the Kone is simple. Out of the box it had a strong enough charge to handle my initial dust-bunny chase over our hardwood floors.

1. Holding the thing: This vacuum is like our school's prom queen - awful pretty, but definitely not made for comfort. You have to grip the top of the cone shape as you vacuum. It's no problem for me, but it......
