ok, so i finally decided to see why so many people watched dexter, went to my local library and borrowed season 1, i was expecting it to be like csi, or other crime shows. but i was wrong. i got hooked after the first episode, and watched all of season one in about 5 days. i like how it has one case throughout the whole season but still focused on other cases and all of the characters. off to borrow season 2
...

I don't watch much T.V. However, when I friend told me about Dexter, I was intrigued. Her son had purchased the 2nd season, and I had no idea what I was in for. I watched one episode, and suddenly I had my fiancee, his daughter and several people excited about watching it. I had to buy one season after the other. They're addicting! Twists, turns, intriguing, and before you know it, the episode is over. So, you have to immediately pick up the remote, fast forward through the credits, and start the next episode. The difference in this serial killer series and all others is, Dexter had a code by which he selects his prey. You will never know how enjoyable this series is, until you experience it for yourself.
...

I happened upon Dexter in a brief conversation with a roommates girlfriend who couldn't remember the name of said television show. I instantly IMDBed Dexter and was intrigued. I added "him" to my netflix cue and was streaming live, episode after episode after episode.

I simply can't stop. Dexter is my drug. I am no mass-murdering machine - I am in love.

Netflix has been suggesting for a while that I need to check out Dexter. I finally broke down because I've been hearing from friends how addictive the show is. Within a couple of episodes, I was hooked! It's so interesting, seeing into the head of a sociopath! He's a serial killer, but only kills bad people... murderers, rapists, etc. I love when he starts going on about his inability to form relationships with other people. And every so often you get a flashback to his childhood, which is really great for insight about his personality and why he does what he does.

I highly recommend this show to others!!!
...

this show has so many messages that it realy doesnt target a specific age group but instead appeals men and woman from 18 years old and beyond. this show has action and suspence, the will he get cought and wow didn't see that comming thrills make it so unperdictable and delightfull to watch. you cant wait till next week to see what ill happen next and you cant stopo thinking bout it all during your waiting period, yeah thats how good it is. it shhows how a young man grows up with a censation to kill but as tought by his step father (a police offecer) if you must kill, do it to some one who deserves it as a rapest, killer, drug dealer and so on. he works hard to controll his urge and also maintain a low key so that no one suspects of him, witch is a hard thing to do as he works in a police department with his sister. every day problems as with a love intrest and the struggle to over come challenges as close ones get hurt or ill make all ends tied in and makes one relate to his struggles...
...

Dexter is a horrible tv show. Its so unbelieveable that they never seem to realize that the killer is really one of their own team members. It is also extremely gorey all the blood and hacking up of people. No one knows that it is Dexter doing all these murders. It is just so unbelieveable. And then he has this girlfriend who is so sweet and he's going to marry her.My husband really liked this show but I did not. And he watched every episode and wanted to but it on dvd when it comes out.
...

I first watched Dexter on my home computer on Netflix. After the first episode, I was hooked. I went out and bought both of the first two seasons. My wife is also hooked. Dexter is a blood spatter expert who works for the Miami PD. He goes to the scene of homicide investigations and determines how and where the killing took place. Then he takes on the role of judge, jury, and executioner by tracking the murderer and exacts his revenge for the victims. Add to this his troubled social life, and the colorful characters at the police dept, especially his foul mouthed sister, and you soon forget that the show is about Dexter. I didn't think there was any way possible that they could top season 1, but both season 2 and 3 were equally rewarding, giving the viewer clues to Dexter's past. Just when you think you know all there is to know, the series throws you for a loop. Wonderful fun, but not for the weak stomachs.
...

I am really trying to save money with the recession that is currently upon us; However, I will pay 12.99$ a month for Showtime so that I can watch Dexter. I absolutely love that show. I have managed to get my husband and son hooked on Dexter also. I think Dexter is one of the most well-written shows on TV. The comedy, drama and irony are a perfect blend. The characters on Dexter are both entertaining and believeable. All of the characters on Dexter really make that show. I am not much of a TV watcher. I have 3 shows I will not miss, and Dexter is one of those shows. Dexter is always exciting and interesting-I am always waiting for the next episode. My son got me all of the previous seasons on DVD for Christmas. I look forward to adding to my Dexter library next Christmas. My hat is off to Michael Hall for writing and producung such a well thoughtout TV series. I am wondering when Hollywood will come out with a movie-sounds like a great idea to me. I bet it would that would be a most profitable...
...

FreeSpirit says "If you can't handle a little gore, don't watch Dexter" about Dexter

I love the show Dexter. Unfortunately I don't have Showtime so I have to wait for the DVD.

I rent the entire season and make a weekend of it. If you are not familiar with the show, Dexter is complex to say the least. Watching his mother be chopped up by the drug dealer she stole from and setting in her blood in a storage contianer for days will do that I suppose. Dexter works for the police (believe it or not) and only kills those who he thinks deserve it. It's not for everyone, ecspecially kids but it has a fan base thats for sure. Second season is on DVD.
...

Dexter is soooooooo entertaining. I have watched every show and am eagerly awaiting season 4. I can't wait. Dexter is a blood splatter analyist that works for the police department and he is also a serial killer. But hes a different kind of serial killer because he only kills bad people who for some reason or other that couldn't get put away by the police. He was trained by his adopted father so he wouldn't end up in prison. His father was a police officer for many years and he knew Dexter would be in jail if he wasn't trained the proper way to do things so he wouldn't get caught. He chops the bodies up and wraps them and dumps them in the ocean. He has come close to getting busted a few times but he always seems to be a step ahead of everyone else. I wouldn't recommend it for kids cause it is violent and has alot of bad language and sex scenes. But for adults who like to be entertained and a little on the morbid side will like this show.
...

kadz1 says "Great show but 3rd season was uneven" about Dexter

Dexter: I love this show, I own season 1 on DVD (which most watchers would say was the best) With the 3rd season, the ending of the third season bugged me, It was weak. The Skinner and Miguel die & low and behold it turns out Ramon was the "good brother" all along...THE END..WHAT

But then again, I shouldn't be surprised at the decline, I notice whenever the power structure changes behind the scenes on TV shows. like it did at Dexter, the quality is usually..NEVER the same.

One of the big mistakes I think was killing Doakes at the end of season 2....

The season finale of Dexter was like a deflated balloon. All the tension built throughout the season reached its high point and popped in the episode before, and left this week to let out the rest of the hot air. For those who have not seen the Showtime cable drama, Dexter is about a blood splatter analyst (played by Michael C. Hall) who works at the Miami Police Department during the day and at night kills criminals that the justice system failed to convict while trying to appear normal to everyone he knows. The show is based off a novel by Jeff Lindsay called Darkly Dreaming Dexter. According to wikipedia there are certain parts of the show that are different from the book. The overall plot of first season was similar to the book, but the storyline for the second and third season is different from t he books that came after Darkly Dreaming Dexter.
This season followed Dexter as his life went for a loop again.
