ruchichawla02 says "Dell XPS M1210 - Not worth the cost" about Dell XPS M1210 Laptop

Dell XPS M1210 was good to start with portable compact laptop. But its price tag is not its worth. It is bit bulkier than counterparts in similar category. With 2gb of RAM and Windows Vista home premium its performance is not upto the mark. Its probably a bad strategy of Microsoft to force through Windows Vista to home users, which doesnt have much of takers. The screen normally burns out in 2 yrs time frame. The video graphic adapter (VGA) card which bundles comes doesnt offers a good output. Also, since its in build in board ita hrad to replace it. Mine laptop one day suddenly died. It didnt came up. After doing POST non power test and based on the LED error code display combinations, it seemed up it was video card error. Now, since the card is on board I am screwed. I cant do anything without changing the mother board. Had it been bit lighter, it would have been nice. Well at the same cost other would have been better
...

YoursTruly09 says "Outstanding performance for two years. After that, it's horrible" about Dell XPS M1210 Laptop

I bought my MP1210 XPS Dell laptop back in 2006 because I needed it for school. For the first two years, the performance was outstanding. I had no complaints. It was fast, effective and efficient when I needed it to be. However, after the first two years, I started experiencing a LOT of problems. At first, it wasn't as fast as it used to be. It kept freezing on me. I could go online for 20 minutes tops and then it will automatically shut down on its own. I have asked someone to reset all settings, and reprogrammed everything - and it worked for a good two days, and it went back to its horrible performance. I went to the Dell website, and I saw a lot of bad reviews regarding their batteries. To top it off, I bought a brand new battery, an external hard drive. I transferred literally everything to my external hard drive and guess what? The performance is still horrible. I've already spent way too much just to fix my laptop to no avail. My sister bought a Mac about the same time that I did,...
...

This review is for the Dell XPS M1210 laptop computer. I purchased from the Dell Outlet for around $1400. I don't believe this model is being produced anymore. It has a 12 inch wide screen display, which is smaller than the 13.3 which I believe is on the model that replaced this one. I specifically wanted a small laptop that I could take around with me easily. Now that Netbooks are becoming so prevalent, I would probably have gone that route. But, this does offer the DVD burner built in. So, in a very small, portable size, you basically still have a full, working computer. I like the four USB ports, but having them on each side, instead of having some on the back, is sometimes inconvenient. Since the battery is at the back, there is no room for any ports (except the power cable), meaning you'll likely have wires visible coming off one of the sides. I also like having the audio controls on the front, where they are much more accessible if you're watching a DVD (when you're...
...

The XPS M1210 Laptop is perfect for anyone that is lloking for a mobile system that can be used for working or surfing the internet. Its small size makes it easy to carry and move, and the built in wireless adapter allows for easy internet access anywhere that there is a wireless connection available. The system is also easy to use.

ricojonah says "The XPS m1210 is a fast, sturdy, portable powerhouse." about Dell XPS M1210 Laptop

After purchasing my Dell XPS m1210 almost two years ago, I am still very satisfied by its incredibly well-though-out design and usability. I originally decided to purchase this system after deciding that my old (but nice) 15.4-inch HP notebook was a little to cumbersome to carry around with me. As a college student who's pursuing a degree in computer science, I needed a system that was powerful enough to handle everything my computing-intensive could handle, while being able to fit it into my bookbag ALONG WITH the rest of my books!

The m1210 model I purchased came with 2GB of memory, a 100GB hard drive, an intel core 2 duo (centrino) 1.83 GHz processor. I was also fortunate enough to have two batteries with it--a standard 6-cell battery and an extended 9-cell battery. After nearly two years, I'm still getting close to three hours of life on the standard battery, and nearly 5 hours on the extended battery!

Cosmetically, this is one of the best-designs I've seen in a laptop. While it's...
...

I never thought I would ever own a laptop and I decided toget this Dell for school work. That was the best decision I ever made. My Dell XPS M210 laptop is a multifunction pc. I can burn DVDs, watch movies, listen to CD's, etc. The preloaded programs are awsome. I have a desktop computer, but I am always usingmy Dell because it is portable and lightweight. I have built in Wifi which makes it so much easier to get on the internet and I do not have to buy anything else. I like to play games and use the laptop for writing my resumes for a job. The preloaded Microsoft Word program made it very easy to create the resume or any wriiiten material I need. Another great feature of this Dell XPS M1210 is the four USB ports I have a camera, priner ad reading ight I hook tomy computer and it makes it much easier having multiple USB port access. I would recommend this laptop to ayone that asked me about it. I believe that the ease and portability of a laptop are only the first reason why a person would...
...

I love my gadgets and this is one of them. It does have a few cons but then so does most everything. For it's size it has almost everything one needs.

Pros:

Built in Camera & Microphone

Upgradeable Batteries & Hard drive

Lightweight

Has buttons on the front to play DVDs without booting computer

Uses same power cords from older models

Has four USB ports

Has a widescreen aspect ratio

Cons:

Integrated sound card - can't play tunes in a chat room

Has the newer PC Card slot so my old cards don't fit

Standard battery is to small (splurge on the extra long life and you won't be sorry)

Small keyboard for large hands (probably not for you if you like a standard size keyboard)

...

The Dell XPS M1210 laptop is small and light. Mine has an 8x CD/DVD-RW drive, and a 120GB hard drive. The Intel centrino duo processor is enough to run the programs I always use, including music and movie editors. The battery life is good at first, but then it decreases continuously to the point that it only lasts 15 minutes now and I've only had the laptop for a year. Other than that, I've enjoyed this laptop as a PC, but if I could go back and buy a Macbook I would....
