Dell's revamped Inspiron E1505, an entertainment notebook, now includes an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Though still a poor choice for gaming, the E1505 is plenty zippy for any other applications, including music and photo editing, and movie viewing. The 6.9-pound E1505 also throws in pretty good speakers, dedicated media buttons, and a cushy keyboard with stylish white trim, giving you a great all-around choice for consumers who don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a desktop replacement.

Generously equipped for the price, our $1186 (as of 11/6/06) E1505 came with the Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system, a double-layer DVD burner, four USB ports, a FireWire port, an ExpressCard slot, and a three-in-one memory card reader. The laptop's 15.4-inch WXGA screen is great for mainstream work, but if you need to see more on your screen at once, a WSXGA+ resolution is an option.

Our review unit had a 120GB hard drive. You can get a 160GB hard drive, still a relatively rare notebook...
...

The Dell Insprion e1505 notebook is a great laptop, especially for college students. It works great, and has enough memory and RAM to meet the needs of your average person. It has lasted me three years thus far, and will be four years in June of 2010. It is starting to run slow, but that may be my own fault. If I were to change this computer, I would put a better graphics and sound card into this system. It is a little heavy to carry back and forth between classes, but if you attend a college were the students do not take their laptops as often, this is a great computer. If you do take it back and forth, I would suggest a smaller, lighter computer because it can be difficult to carry with textbooks as well. Having the disc drive to burn CDs and upload them to my iTunes is great. I would be lost without a disc drive. The wireless on my laptop is now starting to have problems and will not stay connected like it used to. It isn't a major problem, but I have to restart it...
...

subverse says "Windows Vista ruins the whole thing" about Dell Inspiron E1505 PC Notebook

Prior to purchasing this laptop, I owned a desktop PC from Dell, which I'd had very few problems with. When I was purchasing the laptop, the sales person advised me to choose Windows Vista, claiming that it did not have as many problems as I had heard and was very user-friendly. I wish that I had never listened to him. I have had multiple problems running Vista on this laptop. It frequently lags, freezes, or crashes all together when I am only doing simple tasks with it.

Vista's updates were causing me trouble, so I turned automatic updates off. However, I'm now unable to get their updates to work at all. Anytime I try to change system settings the computer freezes and crashes. It won't allow me to download popular software, like Apple iTunes, Quicktime, or Adobe PDF Reader, among others. I purchased a webcam and have to use it on my desktop, because I can't get the software to work on the laptop.

At this point, the only thing the laptop is good for is internet browsing, word processing,...
...

I got my Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook 2 years ago and still meets my needs. For a limited budget, (I got mine at $1100+) you get a competitive PC, great for web surfing, viewing videos online, playing, burning your DVDs, and also playing games (PC-based or On-line games). If you're a medium -level pc user, this is a good value.

Even with the advancement in today's technology, this PC is easily good for 3 or 4 years for everyday use. I admit, the design/built is ordinary looking, but it's what's inside that counts. There is however, a small glitch that happens once in a while (2 or 3 times) since I owned it. It's when I'm really overusing it as in playing video games, then watching a DVD movie, then watching TV series on-line, etc that when I try to turn it off, it freezes and gives an error message. But it looks like it can be bypassed just by pressing the start button for several seconds then it turns off.

The Dell Inspirion was my second laptop purchase. It has easy navigation. A very good buy for someone just getting started. Battery life is somewhat limited and gets very hot if use over extended time. Overall it has been an good buy and was worth the purchase price. I am considering a memory upgrade to enhace my useage. The Dell website was quite easy to navigate and had numerous choices at various prices ranges. It is quite easy to transport on trips. I did purchase a cooling mat which helped offset the the overheating issue. The screen is clear and bright. It only has 2 USB ports which was dissappointing because I couldn't perform all operations smoothly. I had to download photos then disconnect to connect to my printer. I did enjoy the DVD Player program . High quality palyback. Overall this is a good buy and I would recommend it but I would recommend the purchase of an additional battery, cooling pad and a memory upgrade.
...

This dell Inspiron E1505 was my very first laptop! I chose it because it looked fabulous and I thought it would be stylish in my room and would match my desk. It turns out, it was excellent! For the first couple of years, the laptop worked very fast and it was easy to download applications on it. I did get it when it first came out and had all the latest features. Even now the new laptops dont give me the same satisfaction this laptop gave me years ago. This laptop is still ahead with many features and qualities. NOw, it is a little slower but I still think it is a great buy!
...

I have had my Dell Inspiron for about seven months now, and I have had no problems what so ever. I came with Windows Vista, which in my opinion is a very good program. I have had no trouble getting into any web site or program. It has wifi and is very compatable. My Notebook fits in my shoulder bag with room for other things that I may need to carry. The card reader is excellent, it's pretty much reads anything which is good because I have three boys aging from twelve through two. They can watch movies and play cd rom games, and when they need to move to a different room my notebook goes with them. The battery power is excellent. What the whole family loves though, is the 15.6" HD widescreen. The color and difinetion is excellent. It's bright so there are couple of times that we dim the screen. The hard drive holds 160GB and 3GB of memory. That works well, because my boys download games and programs of the web. It has never crashed on us nor have we had to refresh...
...

I bought the Dell Inspiron e1505 for college and within one year, the hard drive died. I cannot turn on the computer, and you have to ship it to Dell for them to fix it. Dell has very poor customer service and it was difficult to get someone to talk to me on the phone. When it was working, the wifi was fast and easy to connect, and the programs loaded easily enough. However, the computer came with many unwanted and useless programs. I like that the power cord is long and that it gets a good battery life, but the computer was just too bulky, awkward and heavy, especially compared with the 13" macbook I currently use. The screen and keypad could be thinner. I also found it difficult to type on; the keys were slippery and formatted close together. A laptop is supposed to be just that, but the Dell model was just too heavy. It makes it unenjoyable to work on away from a desk and forget about trying to watch a movie with it on your lap. However, the wide screen is nice and...
...

I have been an avid Dell user for over 7 years now. I have purchased 5 computers from them in that 7 or so years. Always felt I was getting a good deal and a great computer. Until this one.

As for the computer itself it has a great wide screen, intagrated number pad, and for a laptop- pretty good speakers. It really ends there. Within 2 months of owning it the AC adapter went kaput. I called, they replaced. 2 months later, same thing, only this time the battery went with it. They sent someone out to look at it, replaced the motherboard and still nothing. Called back- they sent a new AC Adaptor and battery. In teh 4 years I have owned it I have had to replace the AC adapter 5 times. 4 of those times the comp was still under warrenty. This last time I had to pay out of pocket for a new AC Adaptor and Battery

I spent $1400 on it 4 years ago- yet I still seem to owe $1113 on it. Dell Customer Service has been completely unhelpful in helping me figure out why. ...
...

<p style="padding-left: 30px; text-align: left;"> Hi I Am Clay and I am writing about a great computer, a Dell Inspiron E1505 and I love to use this computer because it has a ton of memory, you can put hundreds of vidoes and thousands of pictures and it still works perfectly. It is very fast and the keys are very easy to press down. IT is also a pretty cheap computer in money wise because it IS NOT TOP OF THE LINE YOU DO NOT NEED TOP OF THE LINE DO NOT WASTE ALL YOUR MONEY ON TOP OF THE LINE, I REPEATDO NOT WASTE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS ON THOSE MAC COMPUTERS. Because if you do waste all your money on those computers thats all you have. The only bad thing about it is sometimes it gets these weird things that slows the whole computer. So overall It is a great computer to have!!!!!! ......

I have had my Dell Inspiron e1505 for 2 1/2 years now and it is still working like new! The only parts I have had to replace were the battery and the CD/DVD ROM after 2 years of use. I bought it at a great price and it included a lot of great features. I have since upgraded the memory. A friend had once told me that I would not be able to use it for gaming and although I do admit there are way better gaming computers out there, the Inspiron e1505 has not let me down. I used it at school and now I use it at work. I have 2 other computers at home but none of them get as much use as my e1505. It's just a great lappy!
...

The Dell e1505 is a pretty good laptop. I have had this computer for 3 years. I got it right before I started college. It has a 15.4 inch widescreen which has been great. It is pretty fast for what I need it for. I use it mainly for the internet and school work. I am not sure how it would be for gaming, etc. I would recommend purchasing the warranty because I have used it quite alot. I have had problems with the hard-drive, (I lost everything so I would recommend always backing up) and the motherboard. Both were replaced quickly and efficinetly by the dell support techs. Calling the support is not very fun, as I have always gotten someone who does not speak english. Even with these problems it has been a pretty good computer. It is not super light, so I would not like to carry it around campus all day, but you could if you didn't have far to walk. Overall, I have had a few problems (fixed quickly by Dell) but the laptop (Dell e1505) is a good computer, better than most!
...
