This laptop was my first computer and my first major electronics purchase; it replaced the family computer for me, and since I got it with 250 GB of hard drive and 2 GB RAM (well, it seemed like a lot to me), it does pretty much everything our desktop does. More, actually, since it has more resources. I have no problems with the laptop physically; the keyboard is good and the layout is fine, and I like the extra buttons for volume. I got it refurbished from Dell, too, which was especially great since it cost about half as much as it would have to get the exact same specs on the exact same computer new.

The problems...well, I'm not sure whose fault they were. It came to me broken, and I had an insane amount of trouble getting it just to function. It sometimes wouldn't start up and would give me a blue screen of death completely randomly, usually after five minutesor less of use, so I really couldn't do anything with it. Troubleshooting on my own did no good; calling tech support was worse,...
...

This computer has been quite a dissapointment to me. First thing, it automaticly comes with vista which works far worse than having xp on your computer and there is no way to get this computer in xp. virus's easily attached my dell inspiron and I do not go to many unigue websites. I stick with yahoo facebook and mypoints. All three very secure sites and yet y computer has received virus's from some place. Whether using firefox or wondows explorer, my screen is guaranteed to freeze. It is constantly asking me if I would like to update things and I am forever clicking no and do not ask me again, but I am still asked practicly hourly. The computer is very slow. And it was only with in weeks that I started having problems with it. The computer also will no longer charge but will work if plugged in. This machine just has too many problems for the price that you pay for it. I would not recommend this computer for anyone. I am a student and was very dissapointed. Please...
...

I like this laptop except it's a bit heavier for me compare to the Dell 700m had. However, I really like the keyboards and how everything is laid out in front of you. It has a desktop feel for a laptop size. Overall, it's a good, solid laptop.
...

Bought my Dell Inspiron 1520 back in 2007. I originally went to have one built, but when I got done with the bells and whistles, it was going to cost me $2500.00 at least. Well, I almost gave up on getting one, but then i went to the Dell Outlet store, and except for one very minor issue, they had a 1520 listed that totally matched the one that I had built. And the list price was a whopping $1150.00. Then I called and spoke to the outlet rep, and he said the laptop that I was going to buy was basically brand new; they had just finished the building of it, but the customer had changed his mind and decided against buying it. So they stuck it in their outlet store. He said that unlike the regular 1520's, the one that I was about to buy was custom built with the highest quality components. And judging by my 1520's performance, he was correct. Here's why:

My 1520 is built to last. The build is the sturdiest I have ever seen and felt. The connection is...
...

My Dell Inspiron 1520 is exactly what I need and use. I went onto the Dell website and created the laptop myself, picking and choosing the features that I wanted and only those features. This was perfect, becuase I didn't end up paying for tons of features that I didn't use, many of which I wouldn't even have known what they were for or how to use them. This computer has all the functions i need, which includes the basics - internet, email, music, photo capacity, and microsoft word and functions for school work. It is as fast as i need it to be and rarely malfunctions. I have had it for more than a year, and it still is working like it is new. I have never had to have it fixed, and i have no viruses! It is a perfect size, becuase I was able to choose the size and also quite attractive, because I was able to choose the color from a variety of options. (it is PINK!) My former laptop was constantly shutting down and breaking down on me, and as of now i have had almost no problems with this...
...

I have been using the Dell Inspiron 1520 for over a year and love it! It has tons of storage space is fast and lightweight. It came with plenty of options to allow me to customize the software and other features to benefit my web design business. I carry my laptop with me to work and back every day. It is strong and can handle the excessive use. The screen is bright and large enough to allow me to view what I need to see. The system is also able to handle me having multiple programs open at the same time without slowing down. On a normal day, I will have Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, MS Publisher, Internet Explorer and Dreamweaver open at the same time and switch between programs. The computer does not lock up or slow down. It also comes built in with an excellent support system that monitors the performance of the computer, alerts you of any updates, and connects directly to Dell.com for tech support. I would recommend this computer to any serious computer user that needs to take their...
...

This is by far the very best laptop that I have ever used or owned. I also have a Fujitsu Lifebook T1010 laptop/ tablet pc that ranks side by side with this one. But moving forward with my Dell Inspiron 1520 review. This is one amazing piece of machinery!!

I bought my 1520 back in September, 2007, about a year and a half ago, and it still works and loks as though it just came off the assembly line. The only difference is that, being that I have had it for a time period, it is just freshly broken in. There are no signs whatsoever of wear and tear. It has stayed in excellent cosmetic condition al this time.

My 1520 has 4 gigs of DDR2 667 MHZ memory inside. It also has an almost brand new 200 GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive installed, which I merely upgraded from a 5400 RPM hard drive. Also, it has wireless n network card, AT&T mobile broadband card inside, a webcam and dual array mics built in. It also sports an outstanding DVD burner, and the battery life is still exceptiona,...
...

We bought our Dell Inspron 1520 about 2 years ago and at the time it was great with the highspeed internet. After filling it up with pictures and videos from our digital camera and mp3 files, it's gotten a little slower, but it still performs all the necessary functions I expect of it. Plus it holds a battery charge for a decent amount of time and does not get too overheated. This computer has plenty of storage space but if you use it for several years you might want to invest in an external harddrive to not only back up your files but also clean up some space. I find that it is compatible will any device I've bought - digital camera, ipods, and flash drives. Dell had a great site to purchase it through as well, with many step-by-step customization options. They also provide excellant customer service ... or so I've heard - I've never had to contact them about any issues so far. Overall it's a great product for everyday family use!
...

My boyfriend owns a Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop and he hashad it for about 1 1/2 now. He loves his computer and uses it everyday! I love the laptop to and use it whenever he is not on it. When we ordered the Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop it took about 2 weeks for the computer to come in and we were able to choose from several different colors and my boyfriend chose red. We have only had one problem with the computer where the keyboard went out and the computer locked up and would not turn back on. Dell sent us the replacement equipment free of charge because of the warranty. Along with the Inspiron 1520 Laptop we ordered a carrying case that matched the color of the computer. I love that Dell is able to have so many different colors and styles to choose from and the Dell Inspiron 1520 is definately an inspiration! The keyboard is a silver color which goes very well with the red top cover. Whenever I decide to buy my own laptop computer I will purchase a Dell Inspiron 1520!
...
