pitcherday says "Another As Seen On TV rip. It's easier just to buy more fruit." about Debbie Meyer Green Bags

I never have any luck with As Seen on TV items. These Green Bags are supposed to keep fruit and salads fresher than leaving them out or in a zip close bag.

First of all, they are small. Secondly, the bananas lasted maybe a day longer. Third, and the most frustrating: there's lots of maintenance involved in using these stupid bags!

They may make the ethylene gas go away, but they trap moisture in there. Every day I had to do "fruit upkeep." Get out paper towels, remove the fruit and wipe out the inside of the bags to rid them of moisture, fruit goes back in. Next day, same thing.

No rotting from ethylene gas, they rot from mold instead. If I got paid hourly for my fruit upkeep, I'd probably give myself more wages than it would cost to replace rotten fruit.

These things make more trouble than they are worth. Pass on these.
...

I had to give these Debbie Meyer's Green bags 1 star becuase there was no Zero. These bags are horrible and I would never recommend them to any of my firends. These expensive bags are just waste of money. They do nothing like the website or TV show claims for.Forget about reusing these bags for 10 times, you can even not use it for 1 time with satidfaction. I see that any produce (tried greens, vegetables and fruits) saved in these bags rottens much more worse and quicker than an ordinary plastic bag from any grocery store. I got a small pack of these bags from walmart and I have used only 2 of them. There is nothing on the pack that talks about product satisfaction to return these and get my money back.
...

JoBi73 says "Beware buying off of TV" about Debbie Meyer Green Bags

I saw an ad on television for the Green Bags and called the number listed, and after much number "punching", (there are many prompts) I purchased 2 sets of the bags. The bill came and I was charged almost $70.00 for 2 sets of the large bags with a zip lock style closure. What a rip off. Could not fit bananas inside of bag, would only hold 2 large bananas. I tried them with strawberries and found that the might have stayed fresh for 3-4 days, but no more than that. There is too much work involved with using them. All items have to be totally dry, the item cannot be large, or it won't fit. I would not recommend buying these items. It certainly wasn't worth the money I paid for them. I couldn't even fit more than 2 stalks of broccoli into 1 bag. They came with a "satisfaction guaranteed",but when I tried to call the number to inquire about a refund, all I got was the prompts to order the item, so I could not send them back.
...

Debbie Meyer Green Bags had been on my radar for a while before I finally purchased a package of them. About every two weeks we buy a large amount of produce for just the two of us, as we enjoy fresh veggie juice almost daily, and my husband eats a large salad almost every evening. As you can imagine, often by the end of the 2 weeks the little that is left is getting pretty wilted and soggy. But the only place around here to get true organic produce is an hour away, so shopping more often just can't happen. While we do supplement with some non-organic when necessary, there are certain foods we just won't buy if we can't get the organic harvest.

Naturally, the Debbie Meyer Green Bags would help retain the quality and therefore the nutrients, plus eliminate some of the waste. Or so we thought.

We tried it first with spinach, then with the variety mixture referred to as spring greens. Neither of us could see any difference in the longevity of these veggies - and we are so ingrained into...
...

I got these bags as a gift from my mother in law. Odd gift. But I used them to be polite. And now I will go buy some more. They keep bananas firm and yellow for up to 2 weeks. They keep lettuce from browning for 10 days. Grapes crunchy and firm for 2 weeks. Strawberries firm and ripe for 7 days. Potatoes and onions don't sprout for weeks. Etc. etc. Such a random product has saved me at least $50 already in unwasted food. For $10 I highly recommend giving them a try. I do wish they lasted a little longer. I've washed them out and reused them about 5 times each but they get less effective with each wash. And sometimes the produce sweats (especially after washing the bag a few times) and you have to wipe them out. But a small price to pay. For the price, they will pay for themselves quickly....

Yes.

I immediately knew why the Debbie Meyer Green Bags had been purchased for him. A. He loves fresh fruit and vegetables and healthy smoothies and he is the main shopper in our household for local or organic fruits and vegetables. B. The Debbie Meyer Green Bags were labeled as Made in the USA and anyone who buys for my husband knows that he checks the label for Made in the USA.

After visiting the "As Seen on TV" store in New York City, I am still intrigued but even more skeptical when I see the "As Seen on TV' logo. ( A gentleman tried to offer me a "down sizer" made for a size 6, in which case I informed him that if I was in fact a size 6, I certainly wouldn't be trying to down-size.) But back to the Debbie Meyer Green......

I thought the Debbie Meyer's green bags worked quite well. I have used them for brocolli and strawberries mostly. Both have stayed good quite longer than when I don't use the bags. Some of the strawberries that I put in the bag are still good after about two weeks. I have yet to use them for bananas. I did read the instructions and dried off my items before putting them in the bag. I do not redry them everyday, but do so occassionally. That is the biggest downside to this item- the frequent drying that is suggested....

Part of being a bargain shopper, is find products that help parishables, as well as other goods, last longer. This is why I'm willing to spend more on items, like Woolite for Darks, that will gently care for my items, so I won't have waste more nor to by certain things as frequently, thus saving money in the long run.

My husband picked up a box of Debbie Meyer Green Bags, hoping they would protect our produce longer.

Product Description:

Debbie Meyer Green Bags are supposed to work by:

Fruits, vegetables and flowers release ethylene gas while ripening after harvesting or picking. Ethylene gas accelerates ripening, aging and rotting. These Green Bags are suppose to absorb and remove this damaging gas, dramatically extending the life of fruits, vegetables and flowers.

They are supposed to save you money by wasting less food, are suppose to be reusable up to 10 times and suppose to keep fruits and vegetables fresher longer. They are also supposed to control humidity and discourage...
...

okay....these bags seem amazing. how great would it be to be able to keep fresh fruits and veggies longer? but really...they don't work. well...let me take that back. they work about as well as any other produce bag. they do not work miracles though. i thnk i'll stick to my normal produce bags. the only perk here is that they are really inexpensive. so even though they don't work...i'll keep using them. i paid for them...and they're washable. why not?...

Do I have a different type of Debbie Meyer GreenBags? I live alone and love fresh produce. But, most of the time, it spoils before I can finish it AND I hate going to the grocery to buy fresh every day. I tried these bags shortly after they were advertised and am quite pleased with the way they extend the life of my veggies! BUT, all the bags are so narrow that they could not possibly hold a bunch of three bananas or even a half a head of lettuce as shown in the listings! The zip strip closure at the top of the bag is so tiny, it is difficult to seal securely AND I've torn a few of the bags trying to open them! No one else has mentioned these issues. What gives?
...

I don't know if Debbie Meyer is a fictional character like Betty Crocker, but I sure would like to thank her for keeping my produce fresh. Debbie Meyer Green Bags may not be the miracle that is proclaimed on TV, but they do work surprisingly well.
I had seen the commercials for the bags for several months, but I was reluctant to purchase them simply because I wasn't convinced they really worked. And who wants to spend 10 bucks on something unless you're sure it's worth it? Recently, I received an e-mail from HomeTrends.com with a free shipping offer on any As Seen on TV product. The Debbie Meyer Green Bags were included in the special offer so I figured this was as good a time as any to give the product a try.

The set of ten bags arrived quickly in a plain envelope and when I pulled them out there didn't seem to be anything particularly special about them. The bags are celery green in color, transparent, and came in two sizes. I selected the larger size, and loaded a bunch of...
...

The Debbie Meyers Green Bags may not be a the miracle product they claim to be. The longevity of the produce doesn't really meet the extent they claim. But the product does actually help lengthen the life of your produce. Another benefit is that I take them with me to the grocery store and place my produce in them, instead of the plastic bags provided at the store. Less plastic for the landfill!...

The Debbie Meyer Green Bags work really good. They definately keep my fruits and veggies a lot fresher a lot longer. My favorite thing to use the bags for is lettuce. I like to buy whole heads of lettuce but by the time i get towards the middle of the head, the lettuce has already gone bad. When I put the lettuce in one of these bags, it keeps for almost twice as long! I would recommend this to all fresh fruit and veggie people....
