Dark Prince was one of my favorite books of the whole Dark Series by Christine Feehan. I was not sure at first when I was introduced to this series if I was wanting to read the this series. I had read her previous books, the Drake Sisters and the GhostWalker series and was a a bit ambivalent. I decided to go ahead and read this first book anyway. I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about this series. To my surprise, this first book was amazing. Dark Prince tells the story about a race of immortals who have to rely on human blood in order to survive. Dark Prince was Mikhail's story. He had been living for quite a long time and was ready to let his life go. His race had this thing about turning into vampires and he did not want to be one of them. Since he had not found his lifemate, he was wanting to end his life.

Then to his amazement, he made a discovery that was going to change his life. He discovered that his lifemate was out there and calling to him. Once he found her, he was surprised...
...

peggyh says "Christine Feehan will, once again, not disappoint her fans" about Dark Prince

Dark Prince is the first novel in the Carpathian series by Christine Feehan. This book makes an excellent read for those who are paranormal, or paranormal romance, lovers. This book is the beginning of a series that tells us about an unkown race, (to most), of people who are struggling to survive as they are slowly killed off by those who see them as demons of the undead (vampires). Since most of the surviving species are male they must find thier life mate before they end up turning into the undead (vampires), or walking into the sun (they live and work at night because the sun is deadly to them), and welcoming the eternal sleep. This is an attention grabbing book that holds your attention from the beginning to the end, and it makes you want to continue reading to see what happens in the next book. Eventhough this is an excellent book series I would not recommend it in any form for very small children (possibly those under 13) because some material may not be suitable for those children.......

Christine Feehan starts out her Carpathian series with this book. It is a good read, although a touch on the dated side. It provides a lot of background information, and the series is fleshed out in later books. Dark Prince is just the beginning.
...

I found the whole different species and type of existence created by the author different, entertaining, and was quite frankly admired her imagination. The males are alpha, which some may find offensive or insulting. The author went through great effort to explain that the Carpathians are a different "species" - not human; Carpathians are primal, they even shape-shift and run as and with wild animals (including wolves) - remember, humans are supposed to be civilized; their principal instinct, main objective, and most actions (it appears) are based on their need to protect their lifemates and children on a primal or animalistic level - keep in mind, humans are "more evolved." Their "alpha" mentality and behavior, while off-putting to some, adds to their wild-animalistic, whole-other-species nature. It may be difficult for some to view Carpathians as another species and seek humanize them; however, doing so detracts from the creativity involved in creating a whole other species, culture,......

I picked this book at random and I must say that I absolutely love this book. I am totally hooked to the entire series. If you love vampires and romance you will love this book. She is a very discriptive author so it really pulls you in if you have a vivid imagination. I must however say that if you are a femanist you will probably be annoyed with her heroines. However I dont think that her heroines are that different from the women in any other romance novel or women in real life so......I think that if people were honest with themselves they would not be so critical about the women in the stories. Also she does make it a point to reiterate the premise behind the Carpathian race (vampires) in each book. So, that if you read say book 12 first you will understand what is going on without having to refer to the first book in the series to get the background. (Some people are annoyed by this). Anyway all I can say is that I am totally rivited and engrossed once I start any one of these books......

Dark Prince by CF was so good. not only the romance but some good action. the detail in which the author goes is amazing i cant wait to read the rest of the series. The detail of having their own language and spells and hierarchy with also the history of all the characters. With all the the suspenses it was breath taking. Even thou am a slow reader i loved every last minute it took me to read this book. From the very beginning of the book i didn't want to put the book down. i was a little turned off from the book at first because i told my grandmother i needed something to read and she said there's a book on the coffee table that you can have but my opinion about the book was all right by the end of the first chapter....

Christine Feehan has created a wonderful and intriguing world with Dark Prince. She has gone one step further in portraying the vampire.

I really enjoyed this book, and got so into it, I read it in one sitting. The characters draw you into their world and story, and you cannot get enough of it!

This story is about a Carpathian prince. at first glance he seems like a vampire, but surprisingly he is a hunter of vampires. The Carpathian males live to find their "soul mate" and if they find her, they are saved. If they do not, or if they do not wait long enough they may turn into a vampire. The entire race of the Carpathian is based on true love, whereas the vampire is only selfish. Though the Carpathian and the vampire have many similar traits, the Carpathian are the heroes. Both have mind powers, strength, and drink blood, but the Carpathians are able to live side by side with the humans.

The characters were very well written, and well defined. The book was very descriptive...
...

After chasing some of the monsters that live, psychic Raven Whitney decided a vacation to someplace secluded was in order. Wanting to forget and get over the horrors in her mind, she tried to block others thoughts and feelings until a heartbroken mans feelings broke through to her and she had to respond to him, giving him comfort and finding he had a psychic ability of his own, only stronger. All of the Carpathians had psychic abilities, but Mikhail Dubrinsky was surprised that a human women was the one that heard his sorrow and despair in the night. She was strong and compassionate and he needed to see and hear more from her. Ravens presence in Mikhails life had saved him, been the light to his darkness and in turn had saved his people from Mikhail himself, he wanted to protect and be with her, he just hoped that Ravens compassion was enough to accept what he really was, the monsters that she had chased in the past not may be the only monsters in her life and thoughts. If Raven...
...

I take a vacation everytime I pick up a Christine Feehan book. Dark Prince starts a series that I hope will be endless, just like her characters. If you like intense, sexy, funny, fantasy with great plot and characters Dark Prince is a great place to start. When you fall in love with her Carpathian's you can pick up the next book and the next for many delightful mini vacations. They make for great rereads too, I usually read them so fast the first time it takes two or three more reads to catch all the undercurrents and "coming attractions" if you know what I mean. Keep them coming Christine.
...

Then you have the drama of them as they get to know each other and yet help a race that is almost exstince. The flow of all the books that follow are just as good....
