With the Cuisinart ICE-20 Automatic Frozen Yogurt/ Ice Cream Maker having frozen desserts just the way you want it is what this appliance is all about. It is incredibly easy to use. The most difficult part of the whole ice cream making process is remembering to chill the vessel ahead of time so you can make dessert on a moment's notice. You don't really have to make ice cream from scratch either. If you like, you can use store-bought yogurt with the addition of your favorite fruits, nuts, chocolate or butterscotch chips or even cookie and candy bar pieces. You simply add the base, which can be cream and sugar or yogurt, stir until thickened, add the flavorings and other ingredients, stir a bit more, and then serve it up. What is especially great about this ice cream maker is that you know exactly what is going in to your dessert. You can make it as healthy as you want, or incredibly rich. The best part is enjoying the fruits of your own creativity.
...

The first time that I used this cuisinart ice cream and yogurt maker, I had an unmitigated disaster. I thought that lemon sherbert would be a light dessert for my company dinner. For some reason, the slushy mixture never froze. I turned it into a container and put it in the freezer. It then became as hard as a rock and difficult to serve. There is definitely a learning curve to working with the machine.

I have since tried recipes that include instant pudding and they work quite. well.

The cuisinart ice cream maker has a very small capacity. The recipe book comes with only a few recipies, so it is necessary to work with recipies that were designed for a regular 4 - 5 quart ice cream maker and reduce the quantities. Good points include the fact that you do not need to use the salt and ice pack as the product is freezing. Of course, you do not need to hand crank as in the wonderful old hand machines. I keep the freezing container in the freezer at all times so that it is...
...

The Cuisinart ICE-20 Ice cream maker makes things so easy! You simply freeze the bowl ahead of time and follow the recipes that come within the manual. I only wish that it made more at a time (the bowl is not that big), but other than that, it's great! You have to freeze the bowl at least 6 hours before using it, but it is so nice not to have to worry about using ice! I also think the ice cream is better after you store it in the freezer for awhile after you make it (you have to transfer it to another containter) but it turns out great. They give you pages of really great recipes for ice creams, sorbets, sherberts, frozen yogurts, and frozen drinks.... which reminds me that I really should try some other things! They give great tips too- like how you can substitute milk for heavy cream, how you should add alcohol during the last two minutes of the freezing process or else the alchohol may impede the freezing process, etc. All in all, I am really glad to...
...

As an ice cream lover, I was interested in making my own at home. I'm not a cook my any stretch. My husband does most of the cooking in my house. So I needed something very easy and user friendly. That's why I picked the Cuisinart Automatic Frozen Yogurt, Ice cream, and Sorbet Maker! It has automatic in the title, so I knew it had to be easy! Plus I love that you can make ice cream, OR frozen yogurt, OR Sorbet. It really is easy and it tastes very delicious!! I love crafting my own ice cream based on my favorites, not store brands massed to everyone else's favorites. Plus I like using it to make frozen yogurt for the kids and they don't even know it's not ice cream!! You do have to wait a while for it to really be frozen. But that's a given with ice cream I suppose. Plus you have to think ahead and freeze the bowl before you mix anything. I love that the book comes with a few reciepes to help get you started.
...

marrsgirl says "Cuisinart ICE-20 is LOUD but makes great ice cream." about Cuisinart ICE-20 Automatic Frozen Yogurt 1.5 Quart Ice Cream Maker

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my husband, who had a job making ice cream while he was in college. I think I end up making most of the ice cream around here though.

This machine is priced very affordably and I've actually been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the ice cream it makes, and it really couldn't be easier to use. I just put the bowl back into the freezer after each batch, and it's cold and ready to go the next time we want to make some. The bowl needs about 24-36 hours in the freezer before it's ready to use.

It makes 1 1/2 quarts at a time, which is perfect for us. It's easy to clean too. I think this model is very reasonably priced, and it's still going strong after 4 years of use (we probably use it about once a month).

The only drawbacks to this model would be the inability to make more than one batch at a time; the freezer bowl doesn't stay cold enough to make two batches back to back, but does require less freezing time if you stick it right back in...
...
