My high hopes for a quality coffee maker came to a quick halt once I started using this junky Cuisinart grind and brew. Thought I could save space with the built in grinder...what a mistake. Give me my old Mr. Coffee. The Cuisiart is a pain from the start. It is not easy to keep clean, it clogs continually, the lid of the basket spins endlessly, it is loud, and it brews the water faster than it drains into the pot so it always leaks over the top of the basket and onto the machine and counter.

I spent way to much on this piece of junk to just throw it away, but I am very close. I advise anyone that wants to break their coffee drinking habit to get this machine. You will quickly lose the joy of drinking coffee.

Takes about half an hour to finally get a pot to brew and when it does it's usually full of grounds. In reality this machine has probably worked correctly 2-3 times in one year.

This Christmas I dream that my wife will find my old Mr. Coffee ($16 at Walmart) and...
...

The cuisinart grind and brew coffee maker makes great coffee from beans. I like the thermal carafe, it keeps the coffee warm all morning without it getting burned tasting. I agree with other reviewers that it is difficult to clean, the chute from the grinder gets clogged, but my biggest complaint is that the door to the basket won't stay closed. I have turned the thing upside down to try to scrub any little bit of coffee that may be hindering it, but it still pops open. We can't use the timer feature due to this problem and it has gotten so bad that someone has to stand there and hold the door shut, otherwise we get hot coffee all over the counter and floor. Not a great thing to have to clean up just before work. Very dissapointing that such an expensive coffee maker has such a problem.
...

I moved about nine months ago, and my new house-mates have this amazing machine! The Cuisinart Grind and Brew--Thermal Coffee Maker. You can literally 'set it and forget it.' It does all the work for you! The Cuisinart Grind and Brew has a programmagble timer, it then grinds and brews your coffee at the set time, and the thermal pot keeps it warm.

There have been times later in the day (up to eight hours later) and I have found warm coffee. This thing is amazing! You buy whole beans, which I think offer more flavor...and you are set! You can set the pot for small batches of one to four cups or brew the entire pot, which I think is somewhere between eight and ten cups.

You get full-flavored rich coffee. I do recomend that you clean the grinder once or twice a week, or the coffee beans will not completely grind and the full amount will not be passed to the filter. The Cuisinart Grind and Brew, also has a gold mesh filter, so you don't have to keep buying filters!
...

The Cuisinart Automatic coffee pot is great. This comes with a self-grinder. You can not get coffee any fresher. The thermal pot stays warm hours after making. My husband makes the coffee at 5:30 am and I get up around 9:30 am to have a fresh, warm cup of coffee. Also, very easy to use. All parts clean in the dishwasher. Love this pot!
...

Cuisinart DGB600BC "Grind and Brew Thermal Coffee Maker" is not something I would ever buy again. The grind worked fine, the coffee was good however the coffee ended up on the counter most of the time. We tried everytihing from changing the basket, the filter, water filter, and anything else that could be changed, rearranged with no improvement. We called the company and they said they never heard of this problem, Yet if you go on line and "Google" "Cuisnart DGB600BC coffee maker leaks" you will find as many complaints about this as you care to read. We never did get it resolved, the cooffee maker ended up in the dump and we are now looking for a new coffemaker.
...

LaLu64 says "Love the Coffee - Hate the Clean-up" about Cuisinart Grind and Brew - Thermal Coffee Maker

I've had my Cuisinart Grind & Brew Thermal coffee maker for over 5 years. There's a lot to like about this coffee maker, and a few nit-picky things that rank about 6 on the headache meter.

I really like the ability to grind and brew all in one countertop unit. It saves taking up counter space or having to dig in the cupboard for a separate grinder.

I also really like the thermal carafe. It does a fantastic job of keeping the coffee hot until it's gone. I've had hot coffee from the carafe HOURS after it was brewed, with no burnt odor or flavor that you'd have with a glass carafe left on a heat element. I like that I can move the carafe from the unit to my patio, so I can serve hot coffee on the spot.

I use the timer feature on the Grind & Brew every day - setting up coffee and water the night before and programming it to be ready when I get out of bed the next morning.

On the down side: I wish it came in something other than stainless steel. It's hard to keep it finger print free...
...

We have gone through two of the same product and I wouldn't recommend this one. Our first one had a grinding problem and they replaced it with a new one, not the store, the manufacture. The new one has a problem with the water not going all the way through the process. I have cleaned the coffee maker, thinking something has gotten stuck or the minerals have built up, but that not the porblem. It is as if it starts to brew, then just stops. I have to shut it off and restart about three times, before it actually finishes a brew. This is not every time but when it does happen, it is frustrating. Looking for a different brand.
...

I love waking up to fresh ground, fresh brewed coffee every morning from my Cuisinart Grind and Brew - Thermal Coffee Maker. I have 5 kids and am a working mother. Needless to say mornings at my house can be quite hectic. Part of my bedtime ritual is to set up the coffee pot and turn on the program. If I sleep through my alarm the smell of fresh coffee wafting up the stairs always gets me out of bed. The Cuisinart Grind and Brew - Thermal Coffee Maker is easy to program and easy to set up. The brushed metal housing is easy to clean with a damp cloth. The grinder does need to be washed after each use due to collecting condensation, however, the directions for the machine clearly state that the grinder needs to be cleaned after each use. It only takes a few minutes to run a kitchen brush over the grinder and rinse it after brewing a pot. I ususally take care of this while doing the dinner dishes and by the time I am ready to set up the pot at bed time the grinder has dried...
...

strojjj says "The Cuisinart Grind and Brew's grinder clogs up!" about Cuisinart Grind and Brew - Thermal Coffee Maker

I love coffee. When I saw the Cuisinart Grind and Brew, I thought, this is it, for consumer coffee makers. It was a bit expensive (Penny's for $120).

I would ask for my money back if I could. Here is why. If you put the water and beans in, and brew right away, it works... okay. Sometimes the chute gets partially clogged. Sometimes it doesn't.

If, on the other hand, you fill it with water, beans, and set the timer for the next morning, be prepared for the disappointment. The moisture from the water condenses on the inside of the grinder and coffee chute. In the morning, when it grinds, the damp grinder and chute clog up. Little coffee makes it to the baskett and you end up with yellow, hot water.

It does have two pros. First, the timer works fine. Second, you can throw your alarm clock away. The grinder sounds like a 747 taking off from Laguardia! It scared my wife when it went off... and our bedroom is upstairs!!!

Don't waste your good money. Find another...
...

The Cuisinart Automatic Grind and Brew is hard to keep clean. The grinding chamber is exposed to moisture during the brewing process. This mean that you have to thoroughly dry it, before you can grind beans for that all important second pot of coffee.

I at first accepted this and worked around it. After about 6 months, I just stopped using the grinder. I have continued brewing coffee with it for the past 2 years. I plan to replace it with a different model. I was very disappointed with the outcome. For the price I expected to be much happier. I do like Cuisinart products, but felt this one did not measure up. The grinding chamber is removable for cleaning, however since there is moisture in that compartment mine will not remove. I believe the grinding gear is rusted.

If Cuisinart could design a grind and brew model, maybe one with a trap door that seals shut after the beans have been ground, so the chamber stays dry, I might consider purchasing it.
...
