Before we went to the Crown Reef Resort, I read all the reviews on various websites. All the negative reviews the Crown Reef got really upset me. I wondered what horrors awaited my family and I. I was very worried. Then we arrived at the Resort. My first fear was erased when I easily found where to check in and the check in staff was extremely helpful and courteous. As a matter of fact I was in and out of check-in within 10 minutes of arriving. We went across the street to our room. We were in Tower 3, 5th floor, my next worry, according to the many negative reviews would be the elevators...according to the reviews they were a long wait....well, we waited all of about 2 minutes for the elevator, we got to our door, my wife and I took a deep breath as we unlocked the door, so many bad reviews about the cleanliness of the room and beds...we were concerned. Then as we opened the door our concern turned to joy as the room as extremely well kept. Outdated? yeah a bit but everything...

I'd have to agree with the comment regarding the outside of the Crown Reef giving the false perception of luxury accomodations in the inside. We too were very disappointed in our recent stay (Sept. 7 thru 13, 2008). We stayed in a deluxe suite on the sixth floor in tower 2. We were originally in tower 3 on the fifth floor and moved, because of a mold problem in that room. By comparison from our previous stay in a similar room at the Sandcastle, I'd have to say the Sandcastle was much better. It was cleaner, didn't smell as musty, and the room was larger. Although, their prices have gone up since remodeling. The main thing the Crown Reef has going for it is the outside pools and lazy river. Other than that, it was nothing special. It's in dire need of being updated/refurbished. This is another case of "you get what you pay for." It was a lot cheaper than other hotels at Myrtle Beach, and I'm sure that when it does get fixed up, like the others, its rates will increase. ......

The Crown Reef is absolutely beautiful....on the outside. The inside, however, is not. I thought that I would be staying in luxurious accomodations when I made reservations at the Crown Reef, but I was wrong. I frequently travel to Myrtle Beach, and I have stayed in much cheaper hotels that were not as eye catching on the outside, but the inside was way better. For the room rates, I think you definately arent getting your money's worth....

Crown Reef is a beautiful hotel. The building is very impressive. At night they have purple spotlights on the hotel which makes it look like no other on the strip. The rooms are super nice and have spectacular ocean views. Very clean and accomadating rooms. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I stayed at the Crown Reef in March 2007 and enjoyed every minute of my stay. I am actually considering having my wedding there....

The Crown Reef Myrtle Beach SC. OK This hotel is all about looks on the outside. The rooms in the Crown Reef are no bigger than most hotel rooms. The rooms are high in price also so check it out before you make your finally decision about this one. The restuarant is a plus so check this out if anyone is close by....

We have stayed at the Crown Reef numerous times. Our teen children love the location and the number of pools. There are also programs for children of all ages, such as scavenger hunts and arts and crafts time. The motel has a great breakfast--$2.50 for bacon, eggs, grits, hashbrowns, toast. A Damon's Rib Shack is next door, and they offer wonderful lunches and dining on the beach. We have always been pleased with the responsiveness and courtesy of the motel staff. As stated, the only problem we have encountered are frequent elevator problems, but we generally need the exercies anyway. We would definitely recommend the Crown Reef to others....
