We got this Crane humidifier after we continued to have dry skin and dry throats all winter long. I read the reviews on this on many different sites and it got the best reviews. Eventhough it's a kids humidifier, I figured I didn't care, as long as it worked. It definnitely is the best humidifier I've ever had. I did have to return my first one because it started to get loud at night but my replacement is whisper quite and I dont' hear it at night at all! I love it! I also love the cute shape and I don't care if it's for kids. This is definitely a humidifer that you have to put on a night stand or on a dresser but it makes up for it. I haven't had any problems with leaks, etc. and I love that it has an automatic shutoff and doesn't keep running like my last humidifiers did. I also love that it doesnt' require a filter like others. You just need to keep it clean but you can easily clean all parts.
...

I love the penguin! Crane's One Gallon Penguin Cool Mist Humidifier waddled into my life as a whimsical gift from my old roommate. We soon discovered, however, that he improved our lives ten-fold!

We lived in an older apartment building constructed circa 1920 and the air was always bone dry. It didn't help that we had to run the radiator most of the year because of the cold Minnesota weather, either. After suffering from dry winter skin and going through gallons of heavy duty lotion, we decided to invest in a humidifier.

One day when I got home from work, I found the penguin on our kitchen table puffing away. His soft, cool mist came right out of his little beak and on the lowest setting, he could go for hours. When we woke up the next morning, there was a marked difference in our skin. Not only that, but when other people were coming down with bronchial infections, coughs and colds, we both felt great!

For $34.99 at your local Target (www.Target.com) the Penguin won't...
...

I purchased the Crane humidifier (elephant) about 3 months ago and have not had any problems. It's very quiet and lasts a long time with one fill. In fact it might be too quiet for my toddlers room.
I would recommend this product for anyone wanting a humidifier for their childs room.
...

We bought this for our daughter's room (animal theme). We really like how it blows out cool steam, the head is adjustable, and like that it isnt the typical humifier look. It's very easy to refill.

Also, it has an automatic shut off when it runs out of water.

We got ours at target for about $34-36ish
...

This adorable humidifer was purchased on Amazon for a mere 28 bucks, and included free shipping! It has worked fantastically thus far, is incredibly quiet, and is perched on my counter looking cute as can be. It only has to be filled like every other day, and the mist comes out of his beak!
...

TrishaClark says "Started out strong . . ." about Crane Humidifier - Penguin Humidifier - 1 Gallon

First off, I have the frog version but I can't imagine that the products would be too different from each other.

The humidifier started off strong but after a week or so the adjustable setting seemed to stop working; It would function as if it were set on low no matter how high I turned the dial.

The base and top are detachable for easy water refill. The first time I refilled the system it stopped working. It appears that the bottom unit has to be emptied of water as well before the new full top unit can be placed back on, otherwise it stops pushing out steam. Since the first water refill the unit hasn't quite been the same (see above 'setting' complaint). I still use the humidified occasionally but I was a little disappointed at my experience after reading so many good reviews.
...

wisedad says "not only cute but also quiet and doesn't wet around it"" about Crane Humidifier - Penguin Humidifier - 1 Gallon

I have read tens of pages of reviews about lots of different models and types of humidifiers.

I thought I should pay extreme attention to a product in which electricity and water were coming together. This was especially a potential problem in case of ultrasonic humidifiers because they are delivering high amounts of moisture without heating the water, so there is always the possibility of that cold water landing right next to the humidifier. I really wanted to avoid an electric device sitting in a pool of water, especially if that pool is going to be on my carpet... So after long and careful consideration I bought this, and I am VERY SATISFIED. It does not wet around itself, it is capable of delivering high amounts of moisture without causing that problem. It works very quietly, has a nice volume reservoir so it does not need frequent refills and it is a cute decorative addition (has different styles, we have a cow and a frog) especially for kid's rooms. We run it in our daughter's bedroom...
...

I am always getting bloody noses. And I mean always..if it's too hot I get one. If the weather is too cold and dry I get one. When I was little I had one almost on a daily basis. The option of cauterizing my nose was as exciting as getting chicken pox so I lived with it. As I got older it was less frequent but there were still times I wondered how long it would take me to bleed out all my blood. I finally looked into a humidifier when I was staying in Colorado...it was such a relief that now I'm never without one. When my first one finally broke down--I upgraded to this lovely penguin shaped humidifier that has served me well every day for almost a year. It is easy to fill, operate and darn cute. ...
