Sears Craftsman makes great tools and the Craftsman Riding Lawn Tractor is one of several different riding lawn mowers produced by this manufacturing giant. Reviewers like the Sears Craftsman name; the mower’s ability to cut through grass and weeds; and the relatively low priced when compared to other riding lawn mowers. “Craftsman is a Name You Can Trust. Everything Sold is Great”, says one satisfied customer, and another reviewer follows with the quote “Strong and Durable”. There have been a few who have voiced their concerns relating to the engineering of the Craftsman Riding Lawn Tractor, but the overall rating of this lawn tractor places it above the average for most a href=/Garden-Outdoor>Garden- Outdoor tools and with a name like Sears Craftsman, it can be counted on for at least a minimal level of quality. I have had to call repair department for the rod but they came out and fixed it. Still a great machine.
...

when i looked at the stars to rate my craftsman riding mower, my first impulse was to give 4 stars. 4 stars is outstanding and thats a really good rating. but then i realized my mower is nearly 20 years old and still running like new! my parents bought each of their 3 children a craftsman 38" riding mower, and bought themselves a 42" at the same time. is that fantastic parents, or what? we mow about an acre and a half--part of it on a fairly steep hill. the mower is simple to understand, the buttons and gears are in places that make sense; my only problem is because i'm five foot two, the brake always seems a far stretch for me--i have to slide forward on the seat to make the brake hold. but the mower is easy to use. it has the safety seat--meaning if you raise up off the seat or remove yourself from it, the mower automatically shuts off. in all the years we've used our craftsman, we've had to buy 2 new batteries, one new front tire and last year we broke our first belt! ...
...

I've owned 2 Craftsman Professional Garden Tractors. One was a 2008 that lasted 20 minutes, the other a 2009 that lasted 90 mins. I have always liked Craftsman products so I was excited about my first purchase. It was the clearance/floor model, 27 hp Kohler, 54" deck Pro Garden Tractor. The biggest, heaviest duty one they had. It threw a pulley in under 20 mins. Probably a minor problem with a loose nut, but paying nearly 3grand for it and something happening that soon I told them to come pick it up. I had a new one (2009) out within 2-3 days. I find out that the electric deck lift on the 2008 has been discontinued for 2009(problematic). Ok by me, just seems like one more thing to break. I get going, it's doing great, then it just goes completely dead. Gauges and all. After some hunting around I find the fuse and it is blown. 5 fuses later and my mower is still half way down my front yard not going anywhere. My store manager did get someone out the next day to...
...

I am reviewing a Craftsman Riding Lawn Tractor. I purchased the riding lawn tractor from my local Sears store. The salesman was very helpful and knowledgeable. I was checking all the different features on the models in stock. I lifted up the hood, checked the access to spark plug, oil filter, battery, ets. When I knelt down and started to look under the deck, the salesman walked over to offered his assistance. I guess he was a little taken back, since I am female. I love to cut the grass and maintain the yard, and my husband wanted me to get what I was comfortable with. The Craftsman met all of my expectations. I wanted plenty of horse power, easily accesibility to; changing the oil, checking the battery and grease fittings, and removability of the mower deck. I also wanted a mulching kit and bagging system. Since the salesman was friendly and helpful, the mower met all my expectations, Sears installed the mulching kit, and assembled the bagging system, and finally...
...

We bought our Craftsman lawn tractor 12 years ago. It never needs repair! It is a work horse and we are so satisfied with Craftsman products. Would think of buying nowhere else buy Sears for our tools. We do take care to perform simple maintenance on it after each use (washing off with water hose above and under, keeping it inside the garage) and a simple yearly maintenance, but that is minor stuff....

snowdog64 says "don't anybody use tractor mounted snowblowers no more?" about Craftsman Riding Lawn Tractor

To begin with, I am not sure where to direct this to. I just want to tell a little story.
I purchased a garden tractor model (#917.25750) with a 42 inch mower, and a 39 inch rotary snowblower model (#917.253350) in the year of 1973. (Best tractor Sears ever came out with.) Now 35 years later thay are all still in operation. It is such a shame that those who changed the design (in particular the snowblower attachment) to the mickey mouse ideas of todays snow thrower attachments. Don't get me wrong the mower decks are ok. The snow throwers are for the most part in question. One almost needs to have a degree in engineering to assemble todays blower attachments to tractor. Unlike my old one it is such a very, very easy installation, perhaps a 15 minute job. The biggest factor is my old tractor has a horizontal shaft, (Onan engine) which uses only a single 46 inch drive belt to power the blower. Because of this it gives the tractor more clearance underneath the frame so......

My Craftsman 26hp garden tractor has all of the power that I need. I use it not only for mowing, but also for pulling a Agri-Fab 26 bushel chipper/lawn vac, yard clean-up and and pulling a cart loaded with fireplace wood. I also purchased the dozer blade for the tough winters we sometimes have in northern Michigan. I have not any problems with this machine. I bought the Craftsman 54" Garden Tractor last year just in time for the fall season and I could not be more pleased with my purchase. My lawn looks even due to the tuned 3 blade mower deck. The lawn doesn't have the ridges that are common with other mowers. The hydrostatic transmission (which I was a little leery of buying at first) makes driving the tractor a dream. I can even get my wife to take a turn mowing the 3 acres of the 8 we own. The adjustable seat makes it easy for both of us to drive in comfort....

su47e says "Craftsmen Lawn Tractors need better engineering." about Craftsman Riding Lawn Tractor

Bought a Craftsmen Garden Tractor because thought it would be heavy duty and not need so much repair. We find that the serpentine belts break twice a year, suggesting that the pulleys need to be better aligned so wear on belts is lessened. Mower blades need to be engineered to throw grass out the shoot instead of balling up grass under the deck. We would like the hook-up connection to be easier to change mower and snow blade or blower. We do like the bagger we added to our mower; it is a big help in cleaning up dead grass and leaves, which we then use as mulch or compost in our garden.

PS: Sears repair service is expensive. Also they did not like me wanting to purchase different mower blades, which I found work better in throwing the grass out of the shoot. ...
