Overall this a a nice mower. The self propell feature makes mowing on hills a lot less work. Nice key start feature. I would recommend this for home use.
...

dzeeveld says "Most lawn mowers are manufactured by MTD or Murray ." about Craftsman Lawn Mower

Almost all Sears, Wards, and "hardware store" lawn mowers are manufactured by MTD

or Murray, with specialized numbers given to whatever retailer is selling the unit, Most, if

not all engines are manufactured by Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, or Tecumseh. There are

some newer engines arriving in the USA which seem to be doing well. The Kabota diesal

engine runs well, and with proper care will last a long time giving many hours of service.

Aluminum block engines simply do not hold up, but those with cast iron sleves hold heat

better and last much longer. Aluminum was used to reduce weight.

Dirt is the enemy. Keep the oil and the filters changed. Electronic ignitions have abrogated the need for points and condensors now. but sharpen/BALANCE blades.
...

First time I used this lawnmower, it already had a major vibrate to it. Paid quite a bit of money for this and wasn't expecting that. Felt like I was paying more for the name, 'Craftsman' than the actual quality of the lawnmower. Just was very disappointed in the quality and vibration the whole time while I was mowing my lawn. And the cut wasn't the greatest either. It was not a pleasant experience to mow my lawn unfortunately and just was expecting more out of buying a brand new lawnmower and the amount of money I paid.
...

Who would think that 30 years ago there was an electric lawn mower manufactured? Well, there was, and I have one. A Craftsman Electric Lawn Mower. It is not cordless, but still is the best of all my yard equipment. Never fails to start, no gas, no oil, no spark plug, no pulling a cord, no exhaust to inhale. It is great and I love it!
...

sniv04 says "I have owned many mowers and none compare to a craftsman." about Craftsman Lawn Mower

I have owned many different types of lawn mowers in the past and last year we purchased a Craftsman lawn mower. We have found the lawn mower to work very well. We also bought the extended warranty on it which is another good aspect of craftsman. If we have a flat tire on it or a dead battery after it has been sitting for the winter they come and fix it for free. If I had to recommend a lawn mower for anyone it would definently be a craftsman. The price of Craftsman are much more reasonable than others and you have, I feel, better quality for your money with a Craftsman....

Warbler says "Good for small lawns and shorter grass" about Craftsman Lawn Mower

This is an inexpensive, sturdy mower that is best suited for smaller lawns (<1/8 acre) and under conditions where the grass is not too long. The mower pushes well under lower grass conditions, but the engine doesn't have enough horsepower to efficiently cut the grass when attempting to cut off more than about 2". The height adjustments are generally easy to move, though one of mine always seemed to be stuck and difficult to move up or down. The push handle doesn't allow for adjustment of the angle (though most inexpensive moewers do not have this feature), so for tall men like myself, this was not always an easy push. Overall though, this is a very good value for your money....

I bought the craftsman lawnmower on 2005 because it was advertised easy to start. Well actually I found it extremely hard to start. I would get so aggrivated and wait to cut the grass the next day after several attempts to start. After having it for 3 yrs. it dosen't work any more! I emailed sears where I bought it and explained about how unhappy I am with it. They left me a message saying they would fix it, but I needed the orginal receipt. I didn't have it and I told them they have every purchase I have made in their system. Well they still wont't fix it and the lawnmower sits in my shed to this day. I actually bought on at a yard sale that is 100 times better than the craftsman....

Another piece of junk lawn/garden equipment from Crapsman. I have had 2 of these lawnmowers, they were the 3 in 1 mulching. They did a satisfactory job on cutting the grass, when you could get the stupid things to run!!! Be prepared for broken handles and pull strings, broken gas lines, and the pull start piece that is supposed to rewind the line when you pull it- good luck getting it to last more than a few times. I will not buy a craftsman lawnmower again- I'd rather go out and trim my lawn with scissors than mess with another mower like this! ...

I went into the Sear Hardware looking at lawn mowers. I bought their middle-of-the-road Craftsman. I returned it a week later and this is why...

I don't know how this thing got passed quality control, but the handle wasn't even painted fully. About a fourth of it was missing paint!

The wheels wobbled. It looked like they would fly off any minute.

The height adjustment on the front left wheel kept disengaging. At first, when the mower veered to the left, I thought I was doing something wrong. Then I realized what happened after the second time. Not too happy about it.

I don't think other people were too happy with the quality of this product either since there approximately eight other discounted returns on the showroom floor for resale.
...

We have a Craftsman lawn mower. Though it's an old model (over 6 years old) is still works like a champ and takes the high grass with little pushing required. THIS particular model being reviewed is the one thing that makes me stop in my tracks every-time we hit Home Depot or Lowe's and just drool with want. If the mower we have already weren't as good as it is I'd sabotage it with a rock while cutting the grass just for the excuse to go buy the newer model....
