Purchased the Craftsman 208cc 26" 2 stage snowblower in December 2008, used it about six times, the electric starter no longer engages to start engine. Will have to bring it back to Sears for repair. Bad situation to be in during a Minnesota winter. Will have to manualy start until I haul it to Sears.

Cheap plastic chute assembly does not stay in place (right or left), tried to adjust chute control to no avail. Poor design.

Plastic skid shoes wearing out quickly on concrete driveway. poor design again.

Would not recommed this snowblower. Bad $800 investment.
...

these snowblowers are great. We live in the mountains of west virginia, and of course we get alot of snow. Working all the time it is hard for us to shovel snow, and it is also hard on your back. I like the new way I call it dig like a dozer. The craftsman snowblower helps me keep control of our sidewalks pathways and alot of other areas like our driveway. I also use it to clear out a path to the wood pile. I couldn't get all of this done just by shoveling. it would kill me for sure. I love my craftsman snowblower and I don't know how I made it before I got it. Thanks craftsman for another perfect device to make my job alot easier than before....

Craftsman Snowblower # 88970 is really an upgrade. It is one kick *** snowblower. Come in great for snowfights also. The upgrade to a joystick for manuerving the thrower is awesome. Don't have to bend down to manually move the thrower. Next time you are looking at to buy another snowthrower, buy model #88970. It was a great investment....

I recently purchased a new 26 inch Snowthrower. By far the best purchase from sears to date. Gear is 1-6 in forward, 1-2 in reverse. I cleared drifts almost as tall as 30 inches of snow, this machine didnt sputter or stall, it drove right thru these drifts. The days we had 11 inches of wet heavy snow, it cleared 26inches everytime without stopping or refueling after 2.5 hours. Love the 4 stroke engine!! Runs quieter that the old 2 stroke and has no signs of stopping when i push the limits on this engine!! Couldnt be happier with this purchase!!...

The Craftsman 208cc 26" 2 Stage Snowthrower is heavy duty and the 208cc gas powered, 4 cyl., belt driven, electric start engine provides plenty of power to get through the heaviest of snow.

It is capable of clearing a 26" wide path with the curved blade. This model has 6 forward speeds and 2 reverse. It also has a joystick to adjust chute rotation and pitch as you are moving.

This model has a safety lock and safety override.

When choosing a snowthrower be sure to purchase one that will definitely meet your needs. If you select one and it is not powerful enough or doesn't have a good path clearing size, you may be sorry, as it probably won't get the job done.

This snowthrower is a heavy duty model and runs in the $800.00 range. You may not need all the features of a heavy duty, so I recommend going to Sears and checking them all out before you buy.
...
