kyriakideso says "Olbermann Belongs on Comedy Central" about Countdown with Keith Olbermann

On April 2, 2007, MSNBC unveiled its new tagline: "A Fuller Spectrum of News." Perhaps this was in response to the broadening content of its most popular show, Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Just last week Olbermann spent 1 minute and 9 seconds reporting on a clip of a runaway Parisian police horse. It was a segment one might expect from Comedy Central's The Daily Show, but not from a network whose name ends in the letters N-B-C. Olbermann and the other talking heads of the Mainstream Media (MSM) damage their credibility by blurring the lines between news and entertainment.
On weeknights at eight o'clock, the MSM puts on a three-ring circus of "infotainment;" where Olbermann goes up against FOX News's Bill O'Reilly and CNN's Campbell Brown. As defined by the Dictionary of Mass Communication and Media Research, infotainment is "information-based media content or programming that also includes entertainment content in an effort to enhance popularity with audiences and consumers."
Edward R.......

JDories says "A Lone Voice in the Corporate Wilderness for Years" about Countdown with Keith Olbermann

Olbermann is a hero! With the Corporate media dominance that cheered us into war with Iraq (in the lead up to the war the main three stations had 496 experts saying we should go in and only 4 saying we shoudn't - liberal media my butt!) - Olbermann was the only main voice on TV holding the Bush administration accountable! His brother died in 9-11, yet he was against going into Iraq and the president called anyone that did not want to go a coward - that is when he unleashed his unabashed Lefty and did us all a public service!

After all, if we had listened to Olbermann, we would not have spent 750 Billion dollars (over 2 trillion when you ad helping the soldiers for life), killed 100,000 innocent Iraqi's, killed almost 5,000 American troops, over 1000 American contractors, and maimed over 50,000 American troops! If people would of listened to him instead of Fox Noise (and the so called lefty media that cheerleaded us into war), we would be a lot safer, have a better standing in the world,...
...

OldHippie says "Left Wing Version of Rush Limbaugh" about Countdown with Keith Olbermann

I was always taught that journalism should be "centered"; neither left or right. Just report the facts and let the public make up their own mind. What Rush Limbaugh is to Right Winged ultra-conservative talk radio - this man is to ultra-liberal Left Winged TV.

I actually heard this man compare John McCain to Fascist Adolf Hitler! Isn't that pushing things way too far Keith? Report on the man's political views & positions. Then let the people decide. A political commentary is one thing; lies and untruths will come back and bite you in the A**! Remember - at one time Rush even had a show on TV. That didn't last.

For those thinking right now, "This guy (me) has to be a republican." - WRONG! I'm neither. I never have voted a straight ticket in my life and probably never will. I learned a long time ago, with a bit of humor, from my Dad about politics. I asked my Dad if he was a Democrat or Republican. He said - "Neither, I vote for whoever I think will do the best...
...
