LisaCarey says "Visiting the grandparents and holiday travel is easy" about Continental Airlines

There are many advantages to living in Houston and one of them is that Continental Airlines offers many non stop flights from Houston to were I want and need to go. Much of our family lives in Ohio and without Continental Airlines it would be difficult if not impossible to see our family (with them traveling here or us traveling there) as often as we do. My daughter has flown using their unaccompanied minor system (which is expensive but never messed up); I have flown alone with two preschool children in tow and so far every experience has been excellent.

What I like about air travel with Continental Airlines

at check in they offered my husband a security pass so he could help me get the kids to the gate

they always take excellent care of my unaccompanied minor daughter as she travels back and forth

the flight attendants let ME handle the children - with the occasional helpful suggestion (say about ears hurting)

daily flights back and forth to where we need to go

My worst flight experience. I typically would not go out of my way to write a bad review for something, but I was truly appalled by the service I have received on this flight. I was flying back home from my dental school interview in Florida - so I was packed very light. I only brought my suit and a change of clothes for 3 days. Overall, I had a standard carry-on bag (bought from macys, never had a problem getting on the plane with it before), and a garment bag for my suit. As I was boarding the plane, the flight attendant stopped me and told me to check my carry on bag to make sure it fits in their bag model fitter. To no surprise, the bag fit, but I had to push the bag in a little. Please mind there was a line of people behind me watching this. The flight attendant then tells me that I should not have to push the bag in, that it should fall right in. I told her that I'll just take out my dress shoes and put them in my garment bag. The flight attendant then tells me there's no way it's...
...

Despicable customer service. I booked my flight over the phone. I am certain that the Continental agent messed up my flight day on my return flight and send me conformation with the wrong day coming back from my trip. When I called back Continental to say that the agent made a mistake on the day of the return flight, they said they would change in for me for $150 change fee. I did not understand why I have to pay extra money for a mistake made by continental agent and asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor was very rude, did not want to listen to me at all and said that there is nothing she can do for me and that if I wanted I could complain to the headquarter. Basically I was forced to pay an extra $150 on top of my already expensive ticket price because on Continental agen't booking mistake!!! NEVER,EVER FLYING WITH CONTINENTAL AGAIN!!!!!
...

Didn't even fly yet and I already getting shafted by Continental. Truly amazing. Ok so here goes. This review is in regards to not only customer service, but point one pass milage discrepencys and just plain information discrepency over all.

On 10/11/09 I called up Continental international customer service number for cities in other internation locations at the number of 800.231.0856. I had actually called this number a total of 4 different times and each tie I recieved basically completely different information trying to use onepass miles for internation flight. The information discprepency is as follows.

I would be flying from Los Angeles to Saigon Vietnam. The first call that I made was with a gentleman that after a looooooong time stated that there was a flight available at the price of 110,000 points. I thanked him very much and hung up. Called back again less than a minute latter and spoke to a gentleman named Manuel. He found in a short time that there...
...

While looking for an inexpensive flight to Seattle, Washington from Dallas, Texas I fiund that Continental Airlines had the lowest fares leaving from the airport I wanted at the times I prefered. I chose this only to experience the rudest employees. The plane was overbooked so you could not take your rolling carryon with you the guy they had taking these to put in cargo acted as if he was being put out by having to take these to the cargo area. "Sorry, I wanted to carry it with me." On my return trip, I was 2 minutes late, My fault? I was at the airport, the kiosk would not let me check in, it took 20 minutes to check in with the desk, they called the gate to inform them that I was at the airport. When I got to the gate, the "lady" at the gate desk informed me in a very hateful tone that I should know to be at the airport early during a holiday season. I was there a hour early, I did not know the middle of August was a holiday in Washington. It is not a holiday in Texas. ...
...

Continental Airlines Sucks

I wouldn't recommend this airline to anyone in my dream also. I had a such a bad experience flying with them, I can't imagine to ever happen to me again. I had to reach to attend a ceremony and can't afford to miss that, I was at the airport 40 minutes before and the crew at airport didn't let me in say I was late as the gates are closed 35 minutes before departure, because they thought the flight was at 3:40 where in it was at 3:45 and I reached the airport at 3:05.

The crew at airport were so rude and they didn't talk to me properly and were so irresponsible and I pleaded them so much to allow me as I could make through the security also. I asked for the superwiser and that guy took more than 15 min to come and all this time I was kept waiting and was not allowed to checkin. Plus I did not even have any luggage that had to be checked in.

I had travelled to so many destinations around the world and this is my first experience in my life where I had missed the flight....
...

Recently went to China via Newark on Continental Airlines. The 787 was a wonderful jet; the meals were very good relative to most we’ve had in the past; most employees were friendly. We enjoyed most of the trip until our flight out of Beijing was delayed due to weather. The Continental folks in Beijing assured us that if we had to stay in Newark, Continental would put us up in a hotel until our connecting flight could be arranged.

When we got into Newark, reality hit. Continental told us that they were no longer taking any responsibility for delays due to weather or actions out of their control, and that WE were responsible for our own hotel bills. Imagine, their causing our problems and us having to pay for it. We were shocked! When delayed by other airlines in the past, we were always compensated for their errors or delays.

I will not likely fly Continental again. I cannot assume responsibility for an airlines errors or delays. Do you realize how much that could ultimately...
...

I dont know if everyone knows this, but lately in 2009 Continenal Airlines has been screwing up. They had a plane malfunction and catch on fire in Colorado (or Utah) in November and they had a plane crash because of an idiot pilot in February (?) in Buffalo. Lets not forget the fact that a pilot died while flying a plane when pilots' healths need to be checked VERY frequently!! Oh and they sent little kids to the wrong state when the children were on their own. To top is all off, Continental Airlines just had an incident where 26 people got injured due to turbulence. What pilot let that happen? She/he is trained to know when turbulence is about to occur and also should have put the seatbelt light on. NO EXCUSE.

When my boyfriend was flying continental, he had to go from Houston to El Paso. They had to turn the plane around midway because the cooling gear for landing was screwed up. Thanks to a smart pilot, my boyfriend didn't burn upon entry.

I... am so speechless right now. I have just experienced the worst customers service that could possibly exist.

This is surprising to me because I fly frequently with many different airlines depending on the availability of the time of departure and arrival that I want and I have flown with continental at least once a year in the last 7 years and have never really had a problem with them - until now.

I had to cancel a flight from Sacramento to Miami, FL, in May. Since the ticket was non refundable, they allowed me to postpone the flight by paying a fee of $150 - I have mixed feelings about this alredy, but then I have never cancelled a flight before so I am not too acquainted with these policies.

The real issue happened today when I called them to ask how I could book a flight using the credit from the postponed flight.

She asked me if I had the confirmation number and I said yes. Then all she said was "change view existing reservations." What kind of instructions are those? Change...
...

I have a sister who lived in Mexico for many years and whenever she traveled back home, it was Continental Airlines that she used. The mane reason she loves Continental Airlines so much is because they make it very easy to earn frequent flyer miles, aspecialy because they partner with other airlines, allowing you to build up your frequent flyer miles faster than other airlines. In my own experiances with Continetal Airlines, I've found them to be very dependable as well as accommidating. They may not be the cheepest of airlines, but after flying with many other airlines, I've found that almost all the time you get what you pay for. Another thing that I really like about Continental is they always serve you a meal, and again, it's not always the best, but when I've been traveling for a long time and I'm tired and worn out, I find that a little meal can be very refreshing and gives me the the little pick up I need to get through my travels. Over all, I really like and trust Continental...
...

The stewardesses on the plane were so friendly and helpful! My daughter didn't cry or fuss once the entire way there because of the amount of love and attention the crew of the plane showered on her. the crew made sure my baby bottles were cleaned for me, that other passengers respected our space, that we got a bassinet seat and that my needs were met as a sole travelling parent.
