user1238 says "and now, try the backwards time glitch" about Comcast High Speed ISP

I signed up for comcast $20 offer on august 2nd (sunday), on the phone. the installation appointment was scheduled for tuesday but i thought it was thursday, so i missed it. later on tuesday the 4th i called tech support and "Jared" set up my own modem remotely. the internet worked great until Monday, when it started to only allow Comcast setup webpage. so i figured it's a typical comcast glitch and waited a day. i called tech support today (wednesday) and my account simply disappeared. tech rep transfered me to sales and "alex" said my location was disconnected on sunday the 2nd! Comcast's computer is clocking backwards and the employees are blindly following into its abyss. naturally i declined all further sales pitches. they better not send me a phantom bill. boycott comcast....

Ok...I pay full price for comcast internet but now I have to deal with the advertizing on the side of the email system. Since I'm paying full price, why should I have to deal with the ads each time. I called customer services and they told me the ads couldn't be disabled. BAD COMCAST!!!!....I cannot wait until ATT offers everything in my area.

Also, we were out of service for one day but did we get a credit on our bill....NO!! Did comcast answer the 1000's of comments on their website about the credit to our bills....NO!!!
...

DrivnFrmWithin says "Comcast provides the fastest, most reliable internet. Period." about Comcast High Speed ISP

The internet is fast! 6.0Mbps for a standard and 8.0Mbps for a premium, I'm not even going to talk about power boost! I never had my internet go out, never have to touch the modem and it's always fast, peak times, mornings, middle of the night. I'm downloading so fast that each time I do it I'm surprised at how fast it is!

I don't know what people are talking about restarting the modem, I never have to do that. Comcast also doesn't use the age old PPPoE interface like DSL does, making it way easier to network with a router. (If you ever hooked up DSL with a router you know what I'm talking about.)

In the Chicagoland area the main competitor is AT&T DSL which runs at .768 Mbps!!! That's 7.8 times SLOWER! Now there is a single drawback to Comcast and that's cost, it's about double the price over DSL. I don't know about you but my time is valuable and I'm willing to pay for quality, reliable service. It's Comcastic!...

Comcast High speed internet is a cable internet service that frees up your land line at home. Because the internet is only using comcast wires, you don't get the mix-up in communication that you might get when you use dial-up, there for the internet is a lot faster.

I grew up in a home where we were very interested in the new technologies. I've have apple IIE's and early versions of desktops. Our first internet provider was dial-up Prodigy. The graphics were much like that of an Atari game. The internet was super slow. but with every upgrade it seemed like the version before was a lot slower. Then I remember when we switched to dial-up AOL on a newer computer with Windows 3.1. I thought that this was a big step for technological advancements. I wasn't sure if anything could beat AOL, but then, just like Prodigy, with every upgrade of AOL and Windows, the connection seemed to get a little more faster. And alos in the mean time there was a way to disable the incoming calls...
...

Comcast does have very fast Internet - when it works. When it doesn't work, you have to keep calling customer service over and over until you get a tech who actually knows what they are doing. Even if you do get an intelligent tech, it's not likely your problem will be solved. More likely you'll end up waiting weeks on end for somebody to come out and replace burried cable or other equipment outside your home. Comcast never replaces anything until it actually breaks....

wilcoxon says "decent service but lousy customer service" about Comcast High Speed ISP

When Comcast's internet service works, it is pretty good.

We used to have Time Warner before the market swaps and had much better uptime under TW than under Comcast (down 1-2 per year vs down once every week or two). I will admit the uptime under Comcast is doing much better than it was the first month or two after the swap (at that point, internet was down multiple times per week).

The one other major hassle I had with Comcast was when I got a new cable modem from them, I had to install Windows-only software on my main PC and bypass the router in order to activate it. That's annoying in itself but the real hassle was when it left crap on my system that could not be automatically removed (registry keys and files) that caused any even temporary DNS failure to immediately reroute to the Comcast cable modem activation site (this was a major issue since it is not uncommon for us to have to try connecting to a site twice to get DNS to work correctly until it's in the cache).

Comcast customer......

Can't complain much about their Internet service, unlike their TV service! I consistently get more than 6mbps for big downloads and reliability has improved over the years from OK to excellent.

My gripe is their secret traffic limit. Comcast will terminate your account if you exceed some unspecified traffic limit and they give you no tools to monitor or limit that amount. I am always in dread of losing my account with no real alternative until they install FIOS in my neighborhood....

They have good service most of the time, but too expensive compared to other internet service providers. Too many times we have had to deal with people that cannot speak or understand English. They advertise great deals but once you have service with them you are stuck at a higher price. Sometimes the service is very slow and when there is bad weather, it is difficult to get service or you get disconnected for no reason. They do not give you any kind of credit for their problems or inconvenience but you must pay your bill on time no matter what.

...

wallslug says "COMCAST IS A MONOPLY/They can Restrict any website they want" about Comcast High Speed ISP

I have Comcast High speed internet, I HATE the company Comcast, but it's better then Verizon who allows '3rd party billing' where Comcast dosen't. The actual service is good, i rarely have interuptions of service, but they 'force' you to order their cable tv channels in order to get a cheaper price for the internet. If you just want internet service, with NO cable tv channels, the cost of the high speed internet is MORE then just ordering the internet service by itself.

Comcast also 'reserves the right' to restrict access to any website who they feel they don't want you to see....THIS IS GOING TO END UP IN COURT AND THEY WILL LOOSE. An example of this is say if there's a radio talk show host that bashes the company, they can restrict access to the radio talk shows internet site because they don't like the person and there's nothing you can do about it....THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG FOLKS....Comcast is nothing more then an Internet Service Provider, they Provide internet service, they should have...
...
