As with all rewards / points / cash-incentive programs, it is always best to pay off the monthly bills and avoid the interest payments. Like the rest, Citi offers its version as the Diamond Preferred Rewards card. With all purchases, you receive 1% back in points. However, when you visit their Rewards site to redeem the points, not all gift cards and items (they offer things from dvds to cameras to tvs) give you 1% in dollars. For example, a $50 gift card may cost you 6000 points, which is less than 1% (it's actually 0.8%).

The best value is a $100 gift card for 10000 points, but it will take a while to accumulate the points, and the department or retail stores that are available are always subject to change. The worst value for your points are items, like a $90 camera for 12000 points. If you're tempted to exchange the points for an item, browse around other sites (like Best Buy or Amazon.com) to see the retail value of an item.

It's still good to have a "bonus" in rewards...

Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card is generally on an average value. If you really care about the item you buy or like to take care or follow up the item you buy, I really think it is a good choice for you. Here are the details.

5 ThankYou Points for every $1 spent on purchases at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations for 12 months; 1 point thereafter

1 ThankYou Point for every $1 spent on all other purchases

The terms of the original manufacturers' U.S. warranties (of one year or less) may be extended up to one additional year on most items purchased on your card.

Most items purchased with your card are eligible for protection against accidental damage or theft for up to 90 days from the date of purchase.

If you buy something with your Citi card and then see it advertised in print for less within 60 days, you will receive a refund for the difference up to $250 (excludes Internet purchases and certain items).

I've used the Citi Diamond Preferred Card for about two years and there are two great features. 1) The ability to generate secure card numbers for on line purchases. I give each retailer a distict card number and spending limit to protect my physical card's account number. 2) The Citi team let's me buy tickets to shows I want to see earlier than the rest of the public. I fun perk.

I love this Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Credit Card! The more you spend, the more points you receive.

When the points reach certain level, you can exchange with gift cards, airplane tickets, and they have variety of items you can choose! They have so many items so you can almost find anything.

So far I received some gift cards for retail stores, a digital photo frames.

Ok here's my speel. Why are we spending so much money using credit cards just to get back a SMALL reward? The reward thing is just the credit cards way of sucking us in to getting a card in the first place. "Oh looky here, we will give you $50 back if you just spend $2000." Come on what kind of deal is that? Does this make sense to you? Doesn't make sense to me. And have you really sat down and figured out what your really paying for an item you buy? You may think you got it on sale but if you put it on a credit card you end up paying more then regular price for it. Intrest. What if you paid cash for that item? Then it would be a good deal and it would be sale price. Our grandparents and our great grandparents and so on and so on thought credit was a sin. If you couldn't buy it with cash you didn't need it. And if you wanted something you saved for it. I don't know about your grandparents but mine had a nice home, two new cars and no debt. Me, I live......

I thought as long as I always paid on time my Citi card rate would stay the same since it wasn't an introductory rate. I was WRONG. They raised my rate from 4.99% to 14.99%. I had the choice to "opt out" of the rate increase, but now my card will be cancelled on the expiration date and I will have to pay the balance in full. ...

Citicards offers a number of rewards card tied to their 'Thank You Network'. I just happen to have a Diamond Preferred Card. I recommend any and all Citicards that reward with 'Thank You Network' points because I've found it to be the best, most flexible and most reliable reward program out there. The best part is, your Thank You points are monitored online--so you can't lose them if you lose a coupon in the mail or something else. And, unlike some other reward programs, my Thank You points don't expire. If you have more than one Citicard tied to the Thank You program, you can assign them all to a single Thank You Points account, which is managed seperatedly from any particular card.

Give it a try! You will not be disappointed! I usually get gas cards. If it's a laptop or big-screen TV you're looking for, Thank You Network has it!

I'm a long-time Citi card holder and have been thouroughly pleased with the rewards program through my Diamond Preferred card. I love getting $10 or $20 gas cards!...

I used to like this card when you could get 5% rewards in ThankYou points and could redeem 5000 points for a $50 gas card, but those days are gone. Reward percent has dropped and it now takes 6000 points for a $50 gift card, so it is no longer my primary rewards card.

Customer service is good. Getting higher credit lines online is pretty easy. Consolidating credit lines from other cards can be dome if you get right CSR. Balance transfer offers can be excellent, if the fee is capped (3% BT fee with $75 max)

I really want to like this card, but other reward card options are now better....

Points build up fairly quickly, and you can cash them in at the $50 level or higher.

The website isn't very user-friendly, but it is possible to pay your bill online to avoid finance charges.

Customer service is helpful. Once I forgot my username & password, and couldn't get through the security of the website, but customer service was able to get me back on track.

In my opinion, credit cards are a great convenience but they can also make it easier to spend more than you intended. For that reason, I almost never carry a balance but I do use the card for most of my spending in order to get the reward points. I didn't seek out the Citibank Diamond Preferred MasterCard by comparing rewards cards. It just so happened that I had been a Citi Card customer for years, and they upgraded me to the card when it came out. I've been pretty happy with my Citibank card, and find no reason to switch.

My Citibank account can be accessed online, where I can pay my bill, check my activity, access a virtual account number, and see my monthly rewards activity. From the Citibank website, I can click straight through to the ThankYou Rewards Network website.

The ThankYou Rewards Network is the place where I begin my online shopping. There is a directory of online merchants where you can earn bonus points. For example, if I click on the link to Overstock.com,...

This card pays the best rewards I've found--cash money, and a higher percentage than most. Also, I've had no trouble with them if there was ever a problem I needed corrected....

I hate switching credit cards and having to change all of my on-line bill pay options, but this card was worth it! I just received it in January and have already redeemed points for 2 $25 gift cards. I mainly use the credit card for gas and pharmacy purchases (where I earn 5 points per $1) and debit my other purchases (I only earn 1 point per $1 on other purchases.) The rewards are nice, I like gift cards for restaurants and gas stations. My only complaints are they offer gift cards for Shell (few in my area) and the 5 point per $1 will only last 1 year....
