Telephones continue to change and it seems like new phones and new versions of old phones pop up faster than one can press the redial button. Business phones change even more quickly then other phones and one technologically up- to- date phone that I have used on the job is the CISCO IP Phone 7940, a phone that connects to the internet.

Telephone Commentary:

This CISCO phone is designed for office use with multiple functions that make it very useful for phones that are used for business purposes. CISCO makes this phone so that its viewing screen stands up at roughly a 60- degree angle, allowing the user to view the panel and the buttons with ease. The handset is small and is placed on the left hand side of the phone. There is also a headphone jack, an internet connection jack, and a speaker phone. The panel on the CISCO IP 7940 phone features a black LCD display with four programmable buttons below the panel and two programmable buttons on the right side of the panel.

CISCO IP...
...

ROBINSEIFERT says "I USE THIS PHONE SYSTEM AT WORK AND IT SEEMS PRETTY DEPENDABLE" about Cisco - 7940 IP Telephone

THE CISCO 7940 IP PHONE IS GOOD BUT WE HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SYSTEM AT THE OFFICE ABOUT ONCE EVERY 2-3 MONTHS BUT I THINK THAT IS MORE OUR CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEIR INTERNET THEY USE THAN ANYTHING! THE DISPLAY COULD BE DARKER BUT IT IS LARGE ENOUGH AT LEAST UNLIKE MOST THINGS THESE DAYS. VOLUME ISSUE IS THAT IT SEEMS EITHER TOO LOUD OR NOT LOUD ENOUGH AND NOTHING AT THE RIGHT LEVEL. IT IS BETTER THAN THE SYSTEM WE HAD BEFORE THOUGH THAT IS FOR SURE....

Have the Cisco IP Phone at work and love it. The caller ID function is incredible as are the checking missed calls feature and voice mail. Only downfalls are when you are making a page it is hollow sounding and the line is fuzzy at times. Love the fact there are so many ringtones to chose from....

TheBard says "The dispay is flawed, but the phone is a good start." about Cisco - 7940 IP Telephone

Internet Protocol (IP) telephones, which are needed for Voice Over IP (VOIP), are the wave of the future. VOIP phones have already started to proliferate the business environment, and home use is on the rise. The era of the Plain Old Telephone System (POTS), which has been around since the turn of the last century is coming to a close because of the advantages IP phone bring to the workplace, such as Network integration, allowing for the seamless amalgamation of data and voice.

The company I work for has completely done away with all of our traditional POTS phones-with the exception of 911 phones-and replaced them with Cisco 7940 IP Phones. We have these two-line IP telephones both at the main office and at all of our branch locations. Our complement of over 1400 7940 IP Phones are tightly integrated into the backbone of our network and work with Cisco's Unity Call Management software to provide voice mail, email narration, and other data specific functions. ...
...
