AngelSuzy says "Christmas a true holiday!" about Christmas

One of my most favorite holidays is Christmas! I love to that time of the year. I love to decorate the Christmas tree and sing christmas carols. I just love to celebrate this time of the year. I do get a little stressed buying gifts. I like to make things though. I am a bargin hunter and sometimes I do get things for my family months in advance if it is on sale. When i was a little kid my parents would take me and my four older sisters driving around town to see all the houses that we decorated with the lights. I loved to do that. Now I am in my thirties and I don't have any kids of my own. I do have a lot of neices and nephews. I love to take them around and look at all the lights. Of course when I was little I loved to get presents. Now i love to give presents and spend time with my family. We have a huge party on Christmas Eve with all my family there. The little kids can not wait to open all his or her presents. My neice Bethany leaves for gifts, and she bugs and bugs us until he get...
...

the meaning of christmas is, in my heart is a time for joy, happiness and family to be together. i am 57 years old, but i am still a small child in my heart when it comes to christmas. i get so happy when i see all the pretty lights and hear all the songs that young and old are singing. my mom is not alive , but i am a mother now and i do for my family like she did when i was a little girl. i try to always remember that jesus was born on or around sometime during christmas and that makes me so happy to know that . they are so much that i have to be thankful for and i fell sorry for all the ones that do not have jobs and have lost their homes because of the economy . i hope that they will see that things will be better for them and their families next year . i wish i could buy them all something for christmas, but i know that is imposible to do and all that i can do is pray for them and hope that they will stay strong until things lookbetter .
...

busymom1974 says "Christmas is a time to spend with family and friends!" about Christmas

Christmas is a time to spend with family and friends. I have 2 sons who still believe in Santa. I have a feeling it may be the last year they do! I want to take many pictures and treasure them always. My husband and I buy some gifts for our sons, we look for deals, freeshippping and toys they will play with. I see some people buy so much, it's forgotten or broken because the kid didn't like the gift in the first place. To me spending time with family and friends is very important. I lost an Aunt in July, so this Christmas will be different. You never know when loved ones or friends will not be with us, so enjoy the holiday and treasure them always....

edlenachan says "CHRISTmas" about Christmas

Well I love christmas, but throughout the years christmas has been more about "gifts" than about the birth of jesus christ which is the reason for the season to begin with. now I do know that christmas is a pagan holiday but it's still celebrated quite much throughout the world. thing is we are losing out on the real reason for it and it's all becoming too much commerical and not enough about god and peace on earth. I just think people should stop and think of the true reasons of christmas and not just about the gifts. we wouldn't be in such a rut around christmas if we did. also I would like to add that christmas has always been a special time for me and my family, even though we had a loss back in 1991 5 days before christmas when my dad died we still celebrated it but without him which was sad but we went on. I was only 9yrs old but I do remember that year quite well. even till this day when christmas comes around we think about my dad and other things but we are grateful none the less......

bound4heaven says "True meaning of Christmas is Jesus Christ Birth!" about Christmas

What we are all forgetting here is that CHRISTmas is NOT about trees, presents and shopping! It is about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I am so tired of people trying to take Christ out of Christmas! The saying "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" is not just a catchy phrase, it IS the solid truth! HE is the reason for the celebration, not a fake Santa or little wrinkled up elves! What a twisted world we live in! ...

coerley says "The meaning of Christmas is not the most you spend." about Christmas

What is the true meaning of Christmas?

I have to buy the better gift.

The more money I spend the more I am loved.

I don't want to go to church or don't want to make the time.

I THINK NOT.

What happened to going to church, spending time with loved ones, making gifts if you don't have the money or just making something from the heart?

Why and how did Christmas become so commercialized? People need to find the true meaning of Christmas before it is too late.

As for decorations coming out after Halloween. What happened to Thanksgiving? Aren't we supposed to be thankful for the things we have or does commercialized Christmas make us forget that? Thanksgiving is a special holiday too, at least I have many things that I am thankful for. And TV, celebrities, movies, and commercialization are not on that list. They are family, life, health, etc.
...

thejoyofnowhere says "christmas commercializm" about Christmas

with the economy of today, i find the commercialism of christmas very distressing. i see parents are forced to make purchases of expensive clothing and toys to please their children's peer pressure lifestyle.

seems to be dictating a meaning to the season which is based on the dollar, not the spirit for which this season really stands.

i, myself, refused to be sucked into this circle of madness and choose to celebrate as our forefathers did, with simplicity.
...

crzyluci says "Christmas is too Commercial" about Christmas

I love Christmas as much as the next person.

But what's happening to the season of giving? And where's Jesus?

With all the turmoil in the world and just the price of living I really hoped for a less commercial holiday. When my children were younger Christmas seemed so simple. No on Halloween the stores start pulling out the christmas decorations and sell, sell.

I love buying presents for people, but i miss the days when a handmade gift was as good as the most expensive thing on the shelf. Maybe it's just the location we have moved to because ever since we moved here i haven't felt like we have had a true downhome family christmas.

And if you're child get's the wrong gift god forbid they show their face at school or yours for that fact at the next PTA meeting.

Just where did the meaning go?

Did I miss the company memo

JESUS TAKES A HOLIDAY.
...
